This really has to be one of the dumbest holdouts I've seen. Usually players do it because they have leverage but he's got none.

I don't think any of this is on the agent. Peter Schaffer, his agent, is a good guy who has a lot of dealings with Denver (which is why Lelie fired his old agent midway through the holdout and picked up Schaffer). He's most certainly not a Drew Rosenhaus or, even worse, a Kevin/Carl Poston- guys who always try to get their clients to renegotiate once they're hired so that they can get a chunk of the deal. I suspect that Schaffer secretly thinks Lelie is an idiot, but he was hired to represent Lelie's wishes, and Lelie's wishes are to be dealt, so he has to do the best he can with the hand he's been dealt.I definitely think that Schaffer is one of the good-guy agents. He's been working his ### off for Lelie, and it's not like Lelie's going to sign a megabucks deal to make it all worth his while, anyway.
