This seems to be one of the hot topics. Much of the discussion is focused on the injury to LJ, its severity, his potential time out, etc. I'm hoping this can be a simple poll with people sharing their thoughts on the chances these players have to perform in the KC offense. Yes, some people feel that the OL isn't good enough to let many backs produce. That's fine. Which of these guys will produce more? That's what we're looking for here.

Feel free to add comments on the players/offense that you think were pertinent to choosing one over the other.

More of what we already know. Edwards on "Moving the Chains" said Preist won't get all the work. I take that as he will get the most, and if he is productive, I see it as 70-30 in Preist's favor. Of course, if he lays an egg, it is more for Smith.

Herm has said it will be Preist. As long as he is effective, that is the way it will remain.

I don`t trust a 34 year old RB who has been out of the game for two years.

I have seen guys like Cory Dillion, C-Mart and Emmitt grow old overnight.

I think it's a toss up (edited to add that coincidentally the voting was 50/50 when I wrote this). 34 year old RB who has missed two years v. a rookie who, correct me if I'm wrong, hasn't seen a regular season snap. The o-line is bad.

Herm says Priest is only going to get about 15 touches. Therefore, it sounds like a RBBC, and a bad one at that.

I think both of them are worth taking a gamble on in bigger/deeper leagues, but I don't have high expectations.

Interesting how split this appears to be down the middle. Let me pose another question, does the valuation of the players change if it turns out the LJ gets IR'd? For instance, do people think Priest is a good fix for a game or two but if it is the long haul Kolby Smith is the guy to have?

Great point. I own all 3 guys and will definately be starting Holmes against Denver, see if LJ is still out, How Priest is doing and go from there for the 2nd week, but this week against Denver I'm going Priest and won't blink.

You've touched on exactly why I think we're seeing an even split. Over 1-2 games, it would appear Priest is the guy to have but I tend to agree with most everyone else that at 34 years old and seeing his first action in over 2 years, the Chiefs could find out pretty quickly that Holmes doesn't have every down capability any more. The longer the L.J. injury lingers, the more of a factor I see Smith being.

FWIW, from Rotoworld

Herm Edwards emphasized that he'd like Kolby Smith to have a big role following Larry Johnson's injury.Herm is trying to develop players and ideally he'd like Smith to play more than Priest Holmes. "You'd like to have a mainstay who you know can carry it 20 times and give the other guy the extras. I don't know if Kolby can carry it 20 times. Who knows?" Smith is worth grabbing in deeper leagues, but a jobshare on the Chiefs doesn't sound overly promising.
Some knucklehead picked up Priest a while back so I'm going to have to gamble on KSmith and light a candle for LJ...it doesn't look good though.

I woudl like for nothing more than for Priest to blow up the first game, and be able to trade him away
