At what point do you have to realize your team just isn't going to (1 Viewer)

Mathematically I am still in the hunt, but it seems like there has to be a point where the odds are tremendously stacked against you (in a 13 week fantasy schedule).

I have only won the very first week and tied one other week. I'm 2.5 games back in my division through 5 weeks. Not good, I know. I still even look at the other teams and wonder how they win.

With only 8 games left, chances don't look so hot (even though I am unsure of how to figure out my opponents "Magic Munber")

I never give up. Granted when you are doomed it is rare you can pull it out but it does happen every once in a while

Once 1994 one of the best teams in our league had to lose out against three scrubs who were mailing it in with crippled and incomplete lineups and it went down.

Never give up, you never know when you will catch that Patrick Jeffers or similiar fluke and have him rip off 10tds and put you back in it.

Weird things happen.

Years ago I was down 161 points for the last playoff spot going into the last week. I beat my bro-in-law 168-6 to oust him from the last spot (against his regular lineup). Just for reference, scores averaged in the 80's and I doubt anyone has ever posted less than 25 before or since. Kordell took me from the ashes to a title.

I never give up.
dingdingding.we have a winner. Even MORE than in real football, as long as you are statistically alive for a playoff spot, you can win your league. Being hot in weeks 8-16 is WAY WAY more important than having a winning record heading into week 8.

If I was eliminated I would set my aims on those teams who are still fighting for a spot and see how many of them I could help eliminate.

:goodposting: The good thing about starting off slow is you get a nice waiver pick every week.......plus I have never played a FF season where a team has started off HOT and continued to remain hot the entire year.

My personal thoughts is that you are probably really at the point that you have to go ahead and make trades and take some chances. Add those guys that you think are maybe overachievers and hope they continue. Most struggling teams sit too long before making changes.

I had one of those years - won the Suyper Bowl - my only loss was in week 2. I had to forfeit a game.Set a legal lineup on Thursday. Back in the day, CBSportsline inserted your WW moves into your starting lineup - I was out of town till after the games started. First move of the season, so I didn't know the player would be inserted into my starting lineup. Ended up with an extra WR in my lineup - caught the problem 5 minutes after games started. Could have removed any WR - or even my highest scoring player for that week - and I'd have won. Very unfair as it was the only thing that denied me an undefeated season. Given the way the commish has since handled similar situations (bends over backwards to make sure retroactive lineup decisions can be made in case of tech problems), I am still sore about it.That same league, two years later, I had a 1-3 start and was 2.5 games behind the division winner and ended up winning the division and going to (but not winning ) the Super Bowl. I never give up and have never been "mathematically" eliminated from the playoffs before the last week of the season (have been eliminated after the penultimate game though)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not giving up. I think my team is pretty decent, but it just isn't scoring any points. I don't want to panic, that's why I haven't really made too many moves. (Of course, that has also hurt me by not grabbing the hot WW guys.) Now I think it's make a move or die time....I just hope it's not too late.

Normally it's when eliminated - however I've had 2 snakebit seasons where I knew I was done.

1. In a division where the one guy ran away & hid, so I was looking WC only, and was leading that race. Half my team got hurt the day after the trade deadline. I knew I was done at that point.

2. The really funny snakebit year when I had 2 ties with decimal scoring. I knew I was going down when the rule clarification vote came down that 1 win & 1 loss was better than 2 ties. This after losing all QB's in preseason and having the commish use QB pickups as the example for how waivers work for a new guy. I figured even being the #3 scorer in the league wouldn't help, because I was in the division where 6 of the top 7 scorers were, and I needed to pass too many people. Top 3 from each division in the playoffs.

GOS2 down. :D
:lmao:Sorry, I should havr clarified - non-survivor leagues where there are actually playoffs.I am not mathematically eliminated from the overall points prize in GSOSII :D
:D You are definately a good sport counselor. Guess I'm lucky that you haven't TO'd me for being :pokey: . Anyway, don't spend that total points prize to soon.

Untill your more games out than you have left. In a redraft do nothing, maybe trade IF it helps. In a dynasty re stock for the future with some of the better teams that need alittle boost to win the title. Alot of times they are willing to give a player like M Turner or Norwood for a guy like Dunn or F taylor. Or get some more draft picks

as I believe I am still solidly in the basement, I'll hold off on the motor boat for now.

I like to sit tight.

It's too easy to hit the panic button too early.

I believe a lot of the studs will rise to the top in the second half.

There are always guys who have torrid second halves of the season and these are the guys you win championships with.

It's still early

"Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?"

When they are 0-10.
I'm half way there............... One team of mine is 5-0......the other is 0-5. The 0-5 team is a perriennial playoff team, but I just can't get things going.(cpep/plummer, TJones, Dunn, L.Jordan, J.Walkers, Matt Jones, D.Bennett, Gonzo)The 0-5 has only scored 1 TD from the starting RB position ALL YEAR. :wall: (the one week I benched TJ, he scores 2 TDs)

I'll be 1-4 after this week (unless Heap gets me 26 points on MNF). Looking at my lineup, can I still make the playoffs? I think I'm much better than my record.
