At what point do you not start a WR against Champ? (1 Viewer)

Whoa, whoa, whoa...

Let's not forget what Porter did to Champ Bailey the last time these played each other. I'm not saying he's gonna go for THREE TDs and over 100 yards again, but let's not assume a shut down either.

Porter was quiet last week while noodle arm McClown was playing. Now that Daunte's coming in, expect the Raiders to challenge the defense up top, rather than playing it safe underneath every time.

Wasn't that game (Porter vs Champ) played in the snow? When is the last time Champ let a receiver do that? I'm telling you guys, Champ will shut down whomever he covers this week, he just will.

Even though I drafted Curry to start for me every week, this week I'm making an exception. The Broncos look like a shut-down pass defense to me ... whether it's Champ or Bly + safety.

Isn't Culpepper pretty much just a dink and dunk QB post-injury? I don't recall him airing it out at all last year nor this preseason.

This thread is going to have to take a week off next week because the Jags don't have anyone worth starting againt Beetle Bailey must less Champ.

Surely you can't mean the 0/0/0 he posted last year in week 10 when he was active and played. You must mean the meeting before that, when he went for 4/29/0. Or perhaps the meeting before that, when he went for 3/27/0. Either way, you raise a great point- obviously Jerry Porter has a GREAT recent history of success against the Broncos.Porter has played Denver 10 times in his career. In those 10 games, only twice has he registered more than 3 catches (the snow game and the 4/29/0 in 2005), and only THREE TIMES has he registered more than a pathetic 30 yards receiving (49 yards once, 57 yards once, and 135 yards in the snow game). One of these things is different. One of these things doesn't belong. With this said, I'd still start Curry this week against Denver, especially in PPR leagues. The yardage might be hard to come by, but I think Denver would be perfectly content to let Curry get a half-dozen receptions underneath for 5 yards each.

 Thanks for taking the time to look up the statistics I was too lazy to find myself.

Unless I have a better option, I'll start Curry against Denver the next time they play, too. Champ is good, but to some extent, this is a fluke. Denver has given up 125 net passing yards through 130 minutes at this point in the season- less than one passing yard per minute. If we extrapolate this over a full season, Denver's on pace to allow 933 net passing yards this year. If that doesn't scream "unsustainable" to you, I don't know what does.Oh, unless you were saying that I was owned because Porter went 1/46/1 against Denver. In that case, all I can say is that his TD came against Bly, and if you think that 1 catch and 46 yards is an example of stepping up one's game, there's not much I can do for you.

Not at all. I should have edited out the last paragraph of your original post. You absolutely dismantled the "what Porter did to Bailey the last time" argument.

Oh, sorry about that. I thought that was one of those post-game gloating bumps. :)

How about Chump Bailey getting torched by James Jones? LOL What an overrated corner. He gambles for INTs, and gets burnt way too much.
