Atlanta at Detroit (1 Viewer)

I only saw the replay once... looked like Jones wasn't touched until after the ball crossed the plane, am I right?

Lions struggled to run, had too many penalties, and couldn't keep the Falcons under 6 yards a carry.

Still gave the super bowl favorite all they could handle, down to literally the last seconds.

A lot to feel good about, minus the results. Minn is still tough, but could see the lions win the next three before the bye.

That said... that ending. NFL got some 'splaining to do. Seriously? Major, major screwage there.

NFL coaches so scared to go against convention

Quinn has a third & 1, been gashing them all day

Punts it to give Stafford a chenxe

 M-V-P

Wearng my Stafford jersey in Central Park running around like a lunatic
I just don't get it. How does this always happen to the Lions?

That is the way it looked to me.
I just can’t believe you destroy an incredible ending to a game.....because they are looking at a slo mo HD replay.....and saying...well it kinda looks like he was touched....but...maybe not....meh....overrule it.

BS.

IT was seen on the field by the line judge.....TD. In human speed. In real time. In the moment. In the freaking moment.

Why are we not playing the game and letting humans make calls anymore? I mean just ****ing review every play....just do that.

Where is the sport anymore? Where?

The call itself was correct, the defender had his hand on Tate's shoulder the whole time, but that's a extra ####ty way to lose

What the heck happened? I had another Stanford TD, then didn’t, and a run off?
Very close play at the goal line. Ref called it a TD. Then there is some rule that if a challenge goes from a stopped clock to a running clock it's a 10s runoff. The refs reversed the very close play at the GL so they weren't allowed to have their 4th down play.

Been saying it for years, replay is trash.

This is what is so dumb about the NFL's rule about going to the ground:

If the ball had came loose there when he went to the ground in the end zone, it's an incompletion, but because he went to the ground and completed the catch IN THE END ZONE, it's not a touchdown.

Friends were all jumping up and down, dancing, hugging. Then we had to stop to be like "don't get excited we have to see the replay". It just sucks all the fun from it.

Seems like everyone is piling on the 10s rule but it seems right.  If they had correctly ruled Tate down at the 1 there wasn't enough time for them to get another snap off.  So you'd rather the clock stoppage to correct the call give them a free play that they wouldn't have gotten otherwise?

Is that true? They had 8 seconds and were already at the 1 yard line.

We’ve learned a lot about the obscure rules over the years watching the Lions invent new ways to lose

I think officially they ruled he was short and confirm.ed it.

You can get a play off with 8 seconds. They were right at the end zone, nobody had far to go to get lined up.

It sucks when the replay goes against you but I'd rather get it right on replay than wrong on the field.

Sure there was enough time. That's the point.  The run off is a stupid rule. Honestly I don't see why it's there to begin with. Most rules gone bad at least have a moderately understandable reason.

No. They ruled TD on the field.
Yep, score reflected it on the screen.

Also there is a picture on twitter of him being touched with 11 seconds on the clock. Did they adjust the clock after adjusting when they now said he was down? Also it's all still a judgement call because in super slo-mo they are trying to decide when Tate had control. They decide it was immediately when the ball hit his hands. Replays are all just  subjective judgements. Hate it.

Could they have gotten a play off?  It would have been tough, but if the officials call the play correctly on the field, maybe they have a shot.  But, because the officials blew the call on the field, they get no touchdown and lose any opportunity to get another play off.  Bogus.

10 second runoff rule may actually be a dumber rule than the process-of-the-catch rule. No doubt they could have gotten another play off if it was ruled down at the 1-inch line.

True it needs to be the same on all plays.

Ball never should have been on the 1 in the first place. That pass interference on Trufant was BS. completely unwatchable ball

All I know is that this Lions team is for real. They're likely a year, and a good draft away from doing some real damage, but I'm im excited for what's happening and what's to come.

The next time someone asked that stupid question "Do you care more about your fantasy team or your favorite IRL NFL team"

The answer is the NFL team.

Agree 100%. BS rule, but it was the right call. My beef with it was he was ruled down with 14 secs left, they never freaking reviewed the time aspect. Not sure why Caldwell didn't push for a review of the time. Dumb
Hindsight is 20/20.  It was such a bizarre ending I am not sure how anyone would have caught it.  And I think it was more like 11 seconds at best.

I still can't believe they over turned it. Looked pretty inconclusive if he was down or not based on the moving video.

Only the Lions man.

It really looked like his knee was touching but with the camera being elevated it could have been misleading.  The camera was right on the goal line, so the angle on the ball was good.

Now if we had a camera at exact ground level and an ###-load of lasers to measure the microscopic distance between the pants and the turf, we could be really conclusive.
