Auction software for a live, in person draft? (1 Viewer)

So our local league is moving over to an auction draft and last year, instead of a draft board, we used EA Sports Draft Tracker on my 360 and had it hooked up to my 65" TV.

But w/ moving to an auction draft, I have yet to find any software that would accommodate that type of draft, for a live-in person draft.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Have you ever used the Draft Dominator for an Auction draft? I'm sure it will do what you want as far as tracking the draft. Plus you can hook it to that big 'ol tv.The only drawback is that the DD doesn't have a true draft board with all teams.

We tried using FanDraft last year for our newly-changed-over auction league. It could easily have been operator error, but it was a disaster.

What kind of trouble did you have?I loaded it onto someone's computer at the last minute. We set the draft order to be the order that someone put a name on the auction block. It was beneficial that we had one guy's son there who was able to enter the dollar amounts and person picked. We used it as a tracker, not the actual auction process per se, but it worked great. As a check, I had the DD and was able to verify the dollar amounts.

If you are savvy with excel I would just use that. Just enter the formulas to subtract from the owner's total $$$ left.

Did you want something for free or can you spend some money? This is a fairly expensive option, but it is worth every penny. Our league used it last year and it made things incredibly easy. Basically runs the entire auction for you by taking care of the bidding. All you have to do is tell it what player has been nominated.BTFS

Yes, it does. But if you want to spend the money, the Auction software from BTFS is awesome (from what I hear from many FBG'ers around here.)

Damn! Has that always been there? I haven't used it to this point. :goodposting:

In every version this year. Including the free version.

The BTFS is pretty awesome, I just don't think I will be able to convince the fellas in time for this year. But next year...

So I guess using the DD on the big screen for this season and go from there.

Thanks for the input fellas.

We've used fantasyauctioneer.com for the last couple years, and it works pretty well. However, it's not free. I'd hesitate to use DD if any guys in your league aren't subscribers or don't know about it....letting people in on a powerful tool otherwise. I've used the auction DD for the last 4 years, helps out a lot.

FA is dead this year, so I think I may HAVE to use the DD and roll the dice on not teaching too many in our league

In all honesty, my problem with FanDraft stemmed from the goofy draft we were attempting to perform. We have an auction for the 1st five rounds, then go serpentine the rest of the way. I set the snake up ahead of time (mistake 1). Each time a guy was drafted, I had to select that guy from a dropdown, select the team to receive it, and approve the selection, because the software (rightly) was trying to process a snake draft. When we finally got to the start of the snake, the system had completely changed around the draft order, so I had to do the rest of the draft as described above.

There may be a simple way to perform a full auction draft, or even the oddball thing we do, but in the heat of the moment it was a stressful nightmare that took all the fun out of the draft for me. My advice (and I love FanDraft for a regular snake draft - it also includes a cool feature to export your draft right into your MFL league), is to do a mock ahead of time.

you don't even really need to be very "savvy." IMO this is best way to go - easy and free. the only hitch is it doesn't automatically delete guys already bid on and such but IMO BFD, it's not at all hard to keep track of that.

Agree. Plus you don't need internet access from the bar/restaurant/house that you are drafting from.

This is an old thread that came up in a google search but does anyone have a new preference for auction software? Has anybody actually created an Excel spreadsheet that does this? I am not that savvy with writing excel, but know some people here are whizzes.

This thread is 3 years old, so there must be something new people are using as many leagues migrate from snake drafts.

TIA.

ffmastermind has a tool that our auction league has been using for 3 years. I believe it is called the executive draft master & costs less than $12. It does what u need most likely...hth.

It helps a little. If i was more proficient in Excel, I'd probably just try & write it. I am looking for something simple. Any other ideas?
