Austin Seferian-Jenkins - What do you think? (1 Viewer)

Who cares? The point is, is he producing? NO Is he about to be cut? Most likely. Alot of guys are talented but never produce.
Exactly. Who cares what the assessment of his talent was before he decided to waste it.

He was a talented head case in college.

He was not a phenom.

Phins should sign him, they got little going at TE. Stash him til next year, get him going on a DD recovery...although he was suppose to be blowing into a breathalizer and has already been arrested so he might be going to actual jail this time.

OK yeah maybe we want to pass on that right now.

Obviously the guys has problems, and is currently wasting away his talent.  But let's not undersell his physical attributes.

He is undoubtedly a better athlete than Gronk.

Gronk:

6'6" 264lbs 4.68 40, 33.5 vertical

ASJ:

6'6" 271lbs, 4.56 40, 37.5" vertical

There was a reason he was the 38th overall pick in the draft despite the red flags.

For his sake, let's hope this is rock bottom.

You'ren talking about this like anyone said he wasn't a good athlete.

Let's just remember, the guy is 23 years old.

He wouldn't be the first player to waste away a ton of talent and end up in obscurity.  He also wouldn't be the first player to have an event such as this turn around his life and career.

Sounds like someone is very invested

does this mean that you are adding ASJ in all formats? or maybe this is just the use of the standard joke (where everyone goes to the Pats and excels; not true but I see it often)
I play in one redraft league with a bunch of friends who wouldn't know who ASJ is if he drank a bunch of beers right next to them.

Yes, no brainer
Is it?

I get that he's in for an increased workload, but has Winston even thrown to his TE very often? He's now a better option than James, who is in a much better offense?

I don't know much about Brate or the situation, so I'm genuinely asking.

James plays a lot of snaps, but he's blocking on most of them.

Brates snaps are mostly running routs, I would bet he gets more targets than James.

Yes, no brainer
I didn't think it was a no brainer. The PIT offense is better than TB offense. Winston struggled vs ARI and has LA & DEN in his next 2 matchups. Last year ASJ & Brate combined for 44 for 616 & 7 TDs.

This year they have caught 9 passes (18% of team total) for 90 yards (17%) and 1 TD (20%). Which is on pace for 72 for 720 & 8. The yardage & TDs aren't that off but receptions is a big spike.

Week 1 ASJ had 28% of O snaps & Brate 39%. Last week ASJ had 43% and Brate 42%. If ASJ & Brate weren't on the field at the same time together this year, it would make sense to expect a big increase in production for Brate. But if they were on the field in 2 TE sets often, it doesn't make much sense to increase his numbers.

My question is: where to find the data on how often TB is running 2 TE sets?

I bet there isn't much that gets by these billion dollar franchises these days.  They probably have ears all over town reporting back on what players do.  I wouldn't be surprised if Koetter kicked him out of OTAs because he heard he was out partying the night before.

Oh, and I definitely thought Patriots when considering he would be cut.  ATL also could use him.

Those workout numbers for ASJ are "a scout at a private workout said..." numbers, which are typically exaggerated. He didn't run at the combine or at a pro day.

He also only weighed 262 at the combine. His combine weigh-in puts him 0.75" shorter and 2 pounds lighter than Gronk.

You are of course correct about it being private workout numbers.  Even if the scout exaggerated his 40 time by a full tenth of a second, and his vertical by 10%, that would put his numbers on par with Gronks.

Suffice it to say, ASJ has difference making athletic ability.  Unfortunately it's currently paired with either a alcohol problem, a 10 cent head, or both.

Funny how things panned out with this clown. He is the best hypothetical TE in the league! - Milkman.

Josh Gordon is also the best receiver of all time, you know, if he didn't get busted and actually played.

Also, Rae Carruth would have been a Hall of Famer due to his elite athletic ability. But that little murder plot thing got in the way. But if you look past that, he is MONEY! He is set for release in 2018. Get him.

Dont even get me started on how good Maurice Clarrett and Marcus Lattimore could have been. Monsters.

Woulda Coulda Shoulda -  But Didn't!!!

Deal with it! ASJ sucks! Plus he is stupid. Lol...

Lol the fact that you're only ammo is his off field troubles is further proof you're just not very good at evaluating players.

Yeah, you had him pegged perfectly! His production is proof positive! This is where you tell me if you extrapolate his stats he averages 120/1980/23 per year right? Hypothetically! Your guy is a bum. Accept it.

I'd take prospect like him over Ebron again in a heartbeat everytime. I'm quiet with my assessment of him. He b7sted for off field stuff. He was good/great on the field.

I see page 1 scouting reports are still there. ASJ was the third / fourth highest rated TE of his draft. Tons of question marks including work ethic.

Let the reader decide for themselves...

I liked what I saw on tape. Small sample but I was definitely thinking he could be a big FF producer if he stayed on the field.

Yeah with him being drafted so high in spite of all the work ethic/off the field questions speaks volumes about his talent.

Or it speaks volumes of who drafted him.

Lovie Smith is no longer coaching in the NFL

this isn't directed at just you, but can people please quit referring to youtube clips as watching "tape".
I was referencing his NFL tape actually.

Honestly I was happy with my assessment of ASJ. I'm going to swing for the fences with all my picks because you can find players that produce like Ebron on WW right now. Replacement level players don't win you anything but the next Gronk might win you multiple titles.
