Backing Up Your WR's (1 Viewer)

Started thing of the idea as I'm tightening up my roster after all my byes.

There are several teams to consider, but thought I would start a quick convo about low end #2's and #3 wr's that would become solid plays should the true #1 come down. And would trading some of your depth that would be considered "better wr's" now for a wr that would skyrocket should your player go down.

My personal concern is with

Indiana-

Reggie Wayne. . . .who gets more balls if Wayne goes down. . . .Gonzo or Harrison?

Other teams to consider. . . .and I'm only going to focus on stud WR's with a #2 or #3 that should be able to be trade for now without breaking the bank.

Arizona -

Fitz or Boldin - Breaston gets a huge boost. . . .Breaston cant be had cheap cheap anymore, but should be able to be traded for still while both WR's are healthy again.

Packers -

Jennings - Driver or Jones?

Lions -

Nothing

Carolina -

Nothing

Atlanta-

Nothing

Dallas -

Both WR's are being held close I'm sure. . . .but I bet Roy gets a big bump if Owens gets hurt.

Huston -

AJ - Walter?

Washington

Moss - Randal?

New England

Moss - ???

Giants -

Not sure Plax counts right now.

I'm blanking out. . . .any thoughts?

The Harrison/Gonzalez duo has really paid off for me this year.

Look how happy I am ------> :goodposting:

For sure, Breaston and Kevin Walter. I actually had picked up Walter to back up Andre Johnson, but had to let him go for roster space. It's a nice move in those two spots if you can afford the space and get the guy.

Others:

Royal for Marshall (Royal had big #s without Marshall in week 1)

Moore or Henderson for Colston (Even Billy Miller for Shockey, though Miller may be the better got to have now...!?)

Driver for Jennings

Reggie Brown could be solid if Curtis or DeSean go down (reach, but he's the one guy mentioned that may be available)

Wouldnt help you now. . . .Wayne has been in there the whole time. But I bet one of them takes off if Wayne goes down. Wish I knew which one.Seems like Peyton has been trying pretty hard to get some of those long balls thrown to Harrison even with Wayne in there.

Unfortunately, the list of WRs that could fill in admirably if a top-notch WR went down is probably limited - the aforementioned Royal, Walter and Breaston stand out, as does Lance Moore. Maybe Crayton as well? In previous years, we also could have said Chris Henry, but that team is a mess.

The main issue is that not like a fill-in RB that will automatically get the ball - the WR needs to work that much more to produce. Not an easy task.

The list is pretty small. . . .but thats what I'm trying to bring out. . .couple guys to target as depth for owners who have these top #1 wr's. . . make the bench worth something for teams that have WR's that are a play every week unless they are injured.

So far seems like Breaston is the most popular?

Moore over in NO & Walker in Huston

Royal. . .

Driver too?

I'm surprised no one has any faith in a Colts WR.

Andre Davis is the back up for A.Johnson; he is currently out for a couple of weeks with a finger, but look at what he did last year with AJ out - he could be pulled off waivers.

Muhammed would jump if Superman was out.

Others:

Nate Washington did well with Sholmes out.

Hardy if Lee Evans is out??

Eddie Royal if BMarsh is out

would Devin Thomas do anything if SMoss is out?

Floyd in SD if either of the first 2 are out
