McNair throws for 245 yds and Mason gets 2 catches for 20 yds? I think he had 4 targets. Many of us thought that with McNair coming to town, Mason would shine. Is he that bad or is something else going on?

Thanks

Willie

What do you mean, whats wrong with him? Hes an aging WR, on a run first, defensive team with an old conservative QB. And he was never much of a stud to begin with.

His incompletion in the endzone was VERY nearly a TD. Caught it but couldnt get the second foot in.

Regardless, Ive been very disappointed with his performances this year.

The emergence of Clayton as a quality receiver and McNair's increasing reliance on Heap are cutting into Mason's targets. With teams stacking the line against J. Lewis, underneath patterns are increasingly open and, with the Ravens, that means Heap. Mason will still have the occasional big game. He made two or three phenomenal catches in the Cleveland game earlier and the skills are there when they need them -- and they eventually will.

This is new to those of us following the Ravens, but McNair can actually, from time to time, throw to whichever receiver gets open instead of locking onto his primary guy. Clayton is very quick and runs good routes, Heap and to a lesser extent, Wilcox are big, reliable targets underneath. With Billick spreading out the offense a bit more, Demetrius Williams is showing the ability to get open from time to time since he's facing lesser corners. There's only so many passes to go around. No pass catcher is likely to be a consistent stat monster on this team except Heap (and then, only relative to TE's)

I'm ready to ditch the guy, but he and McNair are going back to TEN next week, so I might have to give him one last shot...
