Band of Brothers (2 Viewers)

Never got around to watching this, but while looking through HBO on Demand this month (to get my monthly Sopranos fix), I saw all 10 episodes were on there. Unbelievable. Definitely going to get the book. Can't believe it took me this long to watch it. Shocked at Donnie Wahlberg's performance. Pretty good actor.

My 15 year old just borrowed my copy and watch the series again this weekend. Excellent series that will interest all age groups.

been re-watching this again in preperation for The Pacific.

Still the best thing ever produced for TV. its not even close.

This is an excellent idea. Blu-ray + LED TV = GONNA BE AWESOME!

:yes:It's absolutely epic on BluRay + 50" 1080p Plasma. GF who is not a technophile and does NOT like war movies was flat out hooked. We watched 2-3 episodes a night for the better part of a week. Blew her mind. I'd argue it's one of the best things ever put on film..... TV Or Cinema included.

i'm sure it is. But i cant justfiy the cost when i already own it on DVD. (plus it came in that sweet tin box) I have a PS3, and usually notice the diference between Blu-ray and regular DVD. But last night, regular DVD looked just fine to me (disclaimer: my TV is a 3 year old 1080i 37 inch lcd. perhaps a larger TV with 1080p would make the diference more noticable).

Probably correct though Rome puts up a pretty good fight as that was also produced on a massive budget and was fantastic as well

Yesterday I watched the first 20 minutes on my home theater setup. This was the first time I watched it since the theater. Amazing film.

 It was a TV series.

It's amazing to see something that is very hyped up that you finally watch and it is still much better than expected.

There are so few of these guys left....
One of the guys still around and doing all he can is Jim "Pee Wee" Martin. Great follow on Facebook if you can. He estimated there were 6 guys left out of his company. There will come a time very soon that there will no longer be a living WWII vet, enjoy them while you can.

RIP Wild Bill

On now. They just found the concentration camp.

All the tears.
Most realistic drama TV moment that is not using actual footage IMO.
There was some boob on here a while back that swore BoB should be considered a documentary.
Its based on fact. One of the coolest parts is having the guys talk at the beginning/end. Some real heroes there.

I watched BoB and the Pacific over the past week was still completely blown away by both even thought it was my third viewing.

I really enjoyed the first few episodes of The Pacific but then it went off the rails for me.

I've seen all of or most of BoB but I've probably seen the one episode where they cross the River at night no less then 700 times. Every time I caught the show on , it was that specific episode.

Yeah, they hold up extremely well. I still prefer BoB over Pacific by a good margin, but this was very obviously an instant-classic.

I just really related to Sledge and Snafu as they reminded me so much of my coworkers. Guys come in 100% hard for the guard and think they are going to save the world and rescue everyone but then reality sets in and they realize that 40 ft waves in the bering sea aren't for everyone. The Snafu's are every where though, 18-30 year old boys that never grow up and are always causing trouble and busting balls.

Snafu was in The Pacific. Not sure what you took from his character but he was not always causing trouble and busting balls. He grew up big time and I'd like to think I would have ended my train ride just like he did. My friends are sleeping and its my stop, just get off the train and go back to living the life I knew before. He probably internalized much of the war and was probably one of the vets that never discussed it one iota. Maybe I just saw too much of my grandpa in the Sanfu character. My grandpa knew how to have fun, said some crazy stuff but funny stuff but lived his own life. I respect that.

I'm nonplussed as to how anyone could think The Pacific was better than BoB. It's mind bottling. I thought The Pacific was actually a huge let down. If you can find the show on History, I think it was called Battleship 360, that would have been the best way to do The Pacific. Instead, it seemed like hardly any story telling of the actual fighting. If I remember correctly, wasn't there one episode in the middle that took place in San Francisco? While he was on leave? Dumb. I've watched TP once. I've watched BoB at least 200 times.

I own both series, and while I enjoy both of them, BoB is the better of the two by a wide margin imo. I can watch each episode of BoB anytime. There are certain episodes of The Pacific that if it came on, I wouldn't bother keeping it on.

I made the mistake of watching BoB over the holiday weekend and then attending a family funeral (with full military honors) at Arlington National Cemetery on Tuesday. The caisson....the bugle player....the 21 gun salute. I held up ok for most of that, but watching the flag being folded over the casket, and it being handed to the widow with the words "On behalf of a grateful nation....", there wasn't a dry eye to be found.

For any who haven't been to Arlington, I highly recommend it. My next trip will be this fall or winter once the tombstone is up, and so that I can take the time to fully appreciate a "changing of the guard" at the tomb of the unknown.
