I guess Greg Anderson finally flipped.
Thats not the the way I understood it.Was thinking they had enough on BB to determine he lied and Anderson was no longer as crucial as he once was.
I bet the positive test results are not from MLB but from Anderson on Bonds self tests

This is weak... reminds me of Scooter Libby... can't nail him on what you stuck your neck out on.... so find somewhere amidst the myriad of inquiries for the slip up.

Not a Bonds apologist, but this is weak.

Barry Bonds indicted on perjury, obstruction charges
what is also weak is espn's endless coverage of something that should have taken 5 minutes, tops.& does anyone even care?
I do. :goodposting: By the way, to the original poster...why is perjury "weak"? Yeah the case has something of a witch-hunt feel to it, but ya know he could have just told the truth UNDER OATH right?

I kinda feel bad for Barry.... AND all the other players who are about to get named....

There was a time in baseball for a player when you looked around the locker room and more people were doing it than Not.... It really came down to "Do it or don't Play" for a lot of people or for Barry it might have felt like "Do it or watch these Jackholes set your records"..... I'm not sure what I would do if my whole career depended on wether I did this or not - And back then the lines were a little blurred what was a steroid... "The Cream"??????

Even though it was illegal - MLB didn't yet know how to handel it and dropped the ball all while enjoying the profits of the MLB resurrgance and HR records.....

MLB should be put up against the wall... The Commish should be put up against the wall...

Then MLB should say - "Records are records, we're not looking back were moving FORWARD..." They should present their evidence that upwards of 60% of the locker rooms were doing it - "THEREFORE - we can't asterisk everyone So, we close the chapter" - Hey Baseball has always been a "Sport Of Discussion and Opinion"... Baseball fans can form their own opinions and debate and discuss what they like - but, the records happened..... MLB has gone through many changes, The Walls were moved in, the balls were changed, the Bats were made differently and we have the steroid era.... WE didn't have a policy back then.

NOW we move on... THIS is our policy and whoever breaks it gets severe penalties....

NEXT.

I don't understand why this is not a bigger deal to some of you. This is a HUGE deal for baseball. Maybe because it's football season and baseball is pretty bad right now - but you can thank the Barry Bonds of the world for that. And it wouldn't be such a witch hunt if the guy would have just fessed up. But nooooooooo, he had to have that record and taint it - KNOWINGLY - just to say #$%@ you to all of us who have booed him or otherwise. The guy is a joke and I hope he's the next Pete Rose. There was a time when baseball was fun to be a part of. That time is gone.

Thanks Barry (and Sammy and Mark and Raf).

I'd advise against that.

Man, this really is a tired story. I figured it'd be all over the board. No Barry haters today? Or apologists? Those are even better!

I think it's pretty big news that the HR king tested positive for steroids, but I've always felt I was in the minority on that.

i agree.selig is a bumbling idiot and he should take some notes from the NFL.steroids were rampant in the '80s in the NFL and it wasn't a big deal. they realized the issue, put in strong tests, and moved on, didn't make a big deal about it and the public has mostly forgotten about it completely.selig's solution was the opposite. he ignored it early, as it became painfully obvious that it was an issue, then ignored it a little more. then, when nothing could be done about the past (except open a powder keg for MLB), he decides to have mitchell investigate it. i'm not sure what the point of delving into the past to uncover all the people that used it its. no good can come of it.i love baseball, but MLB is run by a bunch of idiots. MLB over-rates it's own importance and is constantly looking backwards at the expense of looking forward and appealing to fans. (unlike the NFL, which is constantly driven to garner more and more fans).i love barry bonds and don't think his steroid use is a huge deal. he shouldn't have lied in court and perjury should be taken seriously, but it angers me that he was ever in a situation where lying was necessary. they were investigating BALCO, bonds admitted he used steroids unknowingly, what more did they want? like bill clinton, he lied in court (about something that's pretty meaningless), b/c the truth would've been damaging for his career.

Bud wasnt the commish in the 80s, when steroids in baseball started to become an epidimic. While Bud didnt push for testing, he probably also wouldnt have been able to get it because of the strength of the player's union. And no matter what you think about Bonds and his steroid use, he deserves jail time for being a collosal idiot. He was granted unqualified IMMUNITY and he still lied under oath. Just an incredibly dumb, dumb move.

What does any of this have to do with perjury and obstruction of justice. Bond's wasn't indicted for using steriods.

Pretty close.....how about test results from BALCO
from everything I've heard today I'd say you're correct

They don't stick needles in your butt where Bonds is headed.
 You really think Bonds is going to jail? Come on now
He will, without a doubt do some time. It may not be a lot but they've been investigating this and building a case for 3 years. That's a lot of resources to give someone a slap on the wrist. His combination or arrogance and lies has worked up the wrong people. I bet he serves a least a year.

I really doubt he does time.If need be he will rat out everyone in the world...but no way he goes to jail for his lies.

If Bonds does any jail time, even a minute, or pleads guilty to any of the charges in a plea agreement, baseball is going to have to answer some very tough questions. I think under those circumstances, they make Bonds an example and ban him from the Hall.

If Bonds is found not guilty, baseball just moves along like nothing happened.

I suppose so. Guess we are all jaded in a way knowing that 90% of the time these stars serve no time.Did you know that Martha Stewart only saved herself like 40,000 dollars by selling her stock early? I figured she must have made a lot more to risk insider trading

No one should go to jail for using teh juice.
Link to a story about someone going to jail for using teh juice?
Not paying much attention are we?
I guess not. Can I get a link to where someone is being sent to jail for using steroids?
Since when would Bonds ever be sent to jail for using steroids? Still not paying much attention, I see.
