Battleship - The Movie (1 Viewer)

Ok I cop to liking this movie.

Brooklyn Decker, Sun Tzu, aliens, old War vets on a Missouri class battleship, killing a Sunday afternoon.

:banned: :bag: :nerd:

Quite possibly the worst movie ever made.   From a screw up to boat captain in record time.  Got it.  The dropping the anchor maneuver might be the dumbest and far fetched idea ever on film.

You don't physics very much do you?

And did he mention Brooklyn Decker?

It was a turn-off-your-brain-and-enjoy-the-ride movie and I think they set that tone well early enough to know what you were getting.  I think they did a good job with it given that.  The actual Battleship game part was both silly and clever enough that it worked. So did the 'yes this wouldn't work but it looked cool and that's all you should have been expecting' anchor-drop thing.

Here we go, this thing has grown on me with the replaying. I plead guilty.

absolutely awful movie and made no sense whatsoever.  I mean, you have to have SOMETHING to engage the viewers and there was absolutely nothing.

I will also admit to liking this too.  The little We are all going to die speech at the end is so heavy handed it makes me cringe everytime, but I still like it.

Met one of the Producers of this film. She refused to even talk about it. She pretty much considered it her worst failure

Taylor Kitsch plays that reckless hothead role really well.  Also in John Carter he plays the same type of character.

Yet still more believable than The Revenant and that was based on a true story and was up for Oscars.

It's not as bad as "Down Periscope" starring Kelsey Grammer.
The scene were Rob Schneider yells "prepare for dive!" is the best short scene in movie history.

But yeah, Battleship was a pretty awful movie.  I like some "turn off your brain" movies, but not sure anyone can turn their brain off THIS much.

Anchors don't work like that.
I love how in a movie where slithering aliens invade in waterborne ships which use old fashioned mortar systems as their primary weapons and have to hop around rather than fly it's the anchor trick which offends your sense of reason.

This is not a blockbuster movie which costs you 30 bucks for a date and food anymore. This is a Sunday afternoon free cable movie shown where they show Godzilla, Three Stooges and fare like that. It's got a gorgeous girl, patriotic themes, implausible story lines, a rogue Jim Kirk guy, international rivals working together, World War II vets saving the world ("I need to borrow your boat"), AC/DC, and a battleship.

I like it. It's a movie about aliens invading only a tiny portion of earth, based on a board game where you announce letter and number combinations to find your opponent's ships. Based on that, it is a fan-#######-tastic movie.
