I thought he looked good too, but first string Ds are a different story and I don't know that Chicago's line is good enough to protect someone who is trying to learn the ropes. I think Lovie is smart enough to keep him on the bench this year to let him develop and give the line a year to get better as well.
I heard it was a minor back surgery and they hadn't determined how long he would be out.encaitar said:Do Bears' fans really want to throw a rookie behind that line though? Our line is going to redefine the word futility.
I think this would be the best scenario for Hanie. That o-line is going to be frightening and whomever is behind it will take a beating. Better to let him get his feet wet towards the end of the season and possibly give Bears fans a ray of hope for the future. There's no way he could start Week 1 - I can't see him being ready to take on real NFL defenses after such little time to prepare. I doubt he's seen more than 10% of reps with the first team, if any, this preseason.Yeah I don't think he'll start week one and I truly hope he doesn't. Ideally, Orton and Grossman both fail to impress up through week 12 or 13 and Hanie gets his shot when the Bears are out of contention. If he shows any promise at that point, I'm jumping all over him in my dynasty start 2QB league.
As Cecil would say.........."Colorado State.......baby!"
Wouldn't that be Week one?valhallan said:and Hanie gets his shot when the Bears are out of contention.
