Having a playbook in your hands is a lot different than going through OTA's, getting your reps, and getting coaching. Regardless of when Dalton got his playbook, Gradkowski is much more comfortable with the offense. In addition to being a veteran and Dalton a rookie, Grakowski was brought in because he is familiar with the offense as it is similar to what was run when he was in Tampa. The courts upheld the lockout on second day of the draft, the first rounders were the only ones able to get playbooks from their Offensive coordinators, not the second roundersdalton met with gruden immediately after the draft and was given a play book to study. he worked with the first team when camp opened on 7/30. gradkowski wasnt allowed to practice until 8/4. i dont think its at all unreasonable to think dalton is more familiar with the offense.'Anthony Borbely said:Palmer will never play another down for the Bengals, so Gradkowski. He isn't the greatest, but he was respectable with Oakland and they don't have much in the way of skill players. The point is Dalton is a rookie that had no OTAs. That is a really big deal for a rookie QB. Of course, this is the Bengals, so anything is possible.'Ilov80s said:I agree, but who do they put in? Gradkowski? Palmer?'Anthony Borbely said:Even though the Bengals never do anything that makes sense, I find it hard to believe they will start Dalton if he doesn't show improvement. I think the rookie QBs are going to struggle even more so than normal because of the loss of OTAs.
