Berrian.... What's going on? (1 Viewer)

I didn't get a chance to watch the Ind/Min game yesterday, so I am only going off what I can see from the reports and game stats.

As far as I can see Berrian had only 4 targets in yesterdays game. 2 on the first drive, 1 in the second quarter, and only 1 in the 4th quarter. What was the story, where any of those balls catchable? Did he have bad drops?

I can't imagine spending that type of money (granted I understand the amount was increased based on limited competition for another WR in the free agent market during the off-season) and to not involve him in the game plan. I also understand that AP gives the Vikes the best chance to win and that they need to get the ball in his hands as much as possible.

But as a Berrian owner I am starting to get worried. I drafted him as my WR3, with WR2 upside. But now I am thinking that he might be a bench rider for the weeks to come.

Looking foward I really like his playoff schedule - part of the reason I targetted him - as he plays Det, Arz and Atl starting in week 14. But if he isn't going to be used, that will be a useless point.

The problem is that TJax hasn't shown the anticipated growth in his game and is bad as he was last year. As a result they will have a great running game, tremendous defense and still manage to miss the playoffs.

after seeing all of week 1's game and the first half of yesterdays game berrian's biggest problem as has been said is tjax.the guy should go ocho's route and change his name to "drive killer".the few balls thrown to berrian yesterday were terrible and mostly thrown into the turf and just about every third down that wasn't given to the running game you can pretty much figure it's punt time.

First year on a new team/system isn't helping either. I seem to recall someone on FBG staff studying how this impacts WRs, and IIRC it was notable.

He's had 2 tough matchups. I'd stick with him.
Reminds me what people said about Lee Evans last year several weeks into the season. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck . . . . Now if he were a proven WR, you could stick with him, but what has he proven to warrant this faith?

I'd say this has been 75% TJax not hitting him acccurately or throwing into good defensive coverage and 25% Berrian not making plays when given a chance. There was a promising deep throw attempt to Berrian yesterday and BB's feet got tangled with a defender and he fell. A few other quick slants I would say TJax just didn't give him a chance by skipping him the ball or putting it somewhere where a defender simply batted it down.

Fixing:
The problem is that the anticipated growth in TJax's game was completely unfounded.
The fun that is mocking the Bear's passing game always led to an undervaluing of the little bit of talent those QB's actually had. TJax doesn't have even that little bit.

 If Tjack could have awarded half the yardage of a completed 'Skipped' pass, we might manage to convert a 3rd down.

It's really too bad. I like the kid. He's mature and is trying his butt off.

I don't know if it's him or if it's the play calling or if the WR's and TE's aren't running their routes, but something has got to change.

I didn't know this, but on the last play pick he threw vs. the Packers, PA on KFAN just said that coaches showed PA where Shiancoe ran the wrong route and that's why there was a pick and Tjack covered for Shiancoe all week. Took the blame himself and never said a word about Shankcoe.

Thumbs up to the kid for that.....too bad he can't complete a pass to anyone.

I don;t think you can call the Colts D tough
The Colts cover 2 is always going to be difficult for a speed WR to score much on. The RBs and the TEs are the ones who always score more against that system which allows the shorter stuff but completely shuts down the big plays.
You're an dolt. Our Defensive coordinator is the Colts previous DC. And we got torched on deep passes twice.

I drafted him as my WR3, with WR2 upside.

Unless you are in a 16-team league, you made a grave mistake.

Berrian's stats last year on a crappy Bears team are his CEILING for this year, IMO. 950 yards & 5 TDs is almost unreachable in Minnesota.

I could not understand why anybody was thinking Berrian had WR2 potential & Sidney Rice was a lock for 8 TDs. Does anyone really think it's possible for Minesota to have not 1, but 2 fantasy startable WRs with T-Jax at QB?

Berrian would be a nice WR5 in a start-3 league, with potential to be used for bye week coverage. I know his ADP dictated that he cost more than that & was drafted as a WR3 or 4. That's why I'm glad I stayed away.

Talent matters too and Dungy is not teaching your guys. Dungy is very good at this. Look at Tampa Bay too. How many #1 WRs do well when they play against Tampa?
