Best albums of 2016 (1 Viewer)

Post-rockers and alternative hip hop. Explosions In The Sky, Mogwai, and Aesop Rock all have new albums out. Good stuff from Explosions and Aesop, have yet to hear the Mogwai album.

:bag:

Just curious: do you consider your self a country music fan?  P.S. It *is* a country music album, right??

I like some alt Country (Sturgill, Jamey Johnson, Gary Allan).  She sounds like old school Tammy Wynette and at times Emmylou (which is great in today's country).  Pop Country can suck my wang.

I dig it. I had no idea I liked Tropical House. Good job little bro
Thanks a lot man! I never liked any of the EDM stuff either, but am finally starting to get into it.

Forgot to link the Radio Edit which I like even better:

Adam Foster feat. Monty Wells - Daylight (Radio Edit)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iePuTEVgXCA

So excited for him. The song was released on Monday and already has over 45,000 plays on Soundcloud. Of course as his big brother I'm biased, but I'm really starting to think he's gonna make it big. Love the song and not just because my brother made it, haha.

I like this album.  I suppose there are some superficial Radiohead similarities.  The singer has a Yorkey quavering voice and the ending of So Many Nights is reminiscent of a Radiohead song that I should know the name of but can't place right now.
I like this album quite a bit too.

Maybe Airbag?

finally found the new Plants and Animals, I like it. The new Car Seat Headrest, "Teens of Denial", is sounding pretty good too.

Really tried to like that P & A

Islands are doing a simultaneous release deal, one "pop" and one "rock".. as usual with these things, they should have trimmed the fat and made one really good record.

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard's Nonagon Infinity goes hard. Nonstop krauty garage #### where every song blends into the next. As an added bonus, the last song blends back into the first. RIYL Thee Oh Sees. Yes, Truck, they're from Australia.

NO ####. Friend directed me to this on Monday.

Re:  Margo Price

Thanks again for spotlighting her.  Really been digging her album.  Found out she is at a local bar/club in Nashville mid June and just picked up two tickets.  Looking forward to seeing her.

Looking for new music that has a chill vibe. Any suggestions? Something like Pink Floyd or Hawkwind.

I kinda regret googling that yesterday as my phone suggested I play it on Spotify as a result.  So I did... and I pretty much love it... but I also pretty much iHate myself for liking something with a name like that.

P.S. that entire album is currently my favorite song.

Hey, there was a time when I refused to listen to Diarrhea Planet. Sometimes you have to fight through the name. Glad you dig.

New job officially sucks and lack of Spotify is reason #83. So little time for new music.

blue wave by operators has a couple of awesome tracks. Reminds me of good New Order days.

Don't know why Car Seat Headrests didn't click with me earlier but loving everything I hear from them.

The new Explosions in the Sky?
Naw, it kinda rocks if you're in a fit of bumfuzzlement, as Jon Dolan of Rolling Stone would say. It also does have the power to transport if you're in a pillowy mood, according to him.

But it does sort of rock compared to a few previous efforts.

Wazoo, this does not fit the chill bill. This thing is insane but I keep listening.

New Woods is another strong entry. They've gone a little jazzy, funky and worldly on this one. It's subtle. Everything I love about them is still there.
I've been jamming it non-stop since I first heard it - Woods' stuff hasn't really clicked with me before but this record is killer. Love the title track and "Can't See At All."

Save for the ride to and from brunch with the family yesterday (while listening to kids music - TMBG FTW BTW), and the commute to school today (Walk like an Egyptian on repeat for the girl's Cleopatra presentation today) Nonagon Infinity is all I have listened too since I first heard it. I, like, need to listen to it.   Insane indeed.

When I heard that song I was surprised Ocasek approved it.  I guess he didn't.

Good record though, I'm in on the CSH bandwagon.. kid has some serious chops to make angsty rock songs sound that big.. Sioux Falls guy wishes he could pull it off
