I kinda think I'm not gonna like the new Foxygen the more I read about it but I'll give it a fair shake.
Thanks for the link! I think I find more music I like during the year by following and listening to the playlists from the fellow FFAers than any other way through the year.new Priests and Orwells singles out... hopefully followed by albums soon. looking forward to both.

Sounds like the Minutemen met Wire and Phish and The Dead Milkmen. Yes, the vocals remind me of DM. Nice econo jams.If you like twitchy punk rock that's tight and quirky, check out Uranium Club's EP "All Of Them Naturals." So much frenetic fun.
I like Austra a bit...haven't heard the new one. I'll have to check it out.I'm enjoying Future Politics by Austra, quite a bit. Synthy, political-ish. alt-pop, kind of in the mold of Grimes or Bjork?, I would say. Seems like something @Steve Tasker might enjoy.
Yeah, they released it Xmas Eve and I would be confused if I was doing end of year lists. They actually said "Merry Christmas," mfers.
I'd count the proper release of 2017. If not, best album of 2016?
Welp. This rules so far. So much better than Emotional Mugger imo.Yes. I dig it. Very Ty Segall-y, in the best way.
They were on KCRW today, just killed it.Welp. This rules so far. So much better than Emotional Mugger imo.
This one doesn't disappoint if you've liked his work with AMC and previous solo projects. The quality of songwriting is high and Butler's production doesn't overwhelm.Looking forward to Mark Eitzel's new one at the end of this month. It's produced by Bernard Butler which is an interesting choice.
I can't remember if you were a Landlady fan? new one continues a lot of what's good about them, albeit maybe a bit more subdued and groovyThis one doesn't disappoint if you've liked his work with AMC and previous solo projects. LIked it. Time will tell if I like the new one more. I've only given it one cursory spin as background music.I can't remember if you were a Landlady fan? new one continues a lot of what's good about them, albeit maybe a bit more subdued and groovy
I just got my ticket to see them in Pomona with Public Access TV opening. Should be a great show.also just saw that the Pixies are playing in NYC with cymbals eat guitars at a mid-sized club...
Drag City doesn't put their albums on Spotify. I actually BOUGHT (gasp) this one. It's great.is the new Ty album not on Spotify?
lolanybody ever listen to Chilly Gonzalez (in the same posse as Peaches)? was all over him for his first few lo-fi rap/dance albums, but drifted away as he ventured into more orchestral/piano works.
spotify just told me he had a new single... which sent me down the rabbit hole- ####### musical genius (self-described!). if interested, google his live performances... calls himself "the entertainist"- almost vaudevillian, super-villain whiteguy fake hip-hop dude in his approach. wears a silk bathrobe when he performs piano (ala hugh hefner... who, now that I think of it, is pretty much his style icon).
looks like he got a gig deconstructing music for a radio station... these are pretty amazing- whole series of them for pop songs.
piano battle vs contemporary composer Jean Francois Zygel
w/ orchestra
older, more beaty stuff in his "rap" days
worst mc
futuristic ain't #### to me + #### the pain away (w/ peaches)
...
probably just me.
I love what the addition of piano/keys does for his sound.A few Ty Segall tunes from their recent KCRW gig made it to Youtube. Great band. Charlie Mootheart on drums in this line up.

first tune on today's Release Radar spotify playlist for me. it's fun, even if I usually have a hard time getting behind that kind of affected vocalAlice by the Meatbodies sounds great so far. A little psych, little glam, little guitar hero-y.
I will give this a listen soon. Haven't heard this before.Syd tha Kyd's solo album is kind of a disappointment. She doesn't have enough variety in her voice and songwriting to carry an album without the funkiness of The Internet behind her.
Moon Duo's new one is less guitar dominated than their previous records (or RIpley Johnson's work with Wooden Shjips) but it's still pretty cool head trip music. RIYL that King Gizzard record that came out last year.
I was liking this one today too.Alice by the Meatbodies sounds great so far. A little psych, little glam, little guitar hero-y.
