Best and worst looking NFL uniforms (1 Viewer)

Recently there has been some talk about the best looking NFL uni's. I just finished listening to a guy on Yahoo who was saying that the Browns' uni was the best looking in the NFL. I guess it really doesn't matter, except for the folks who like to wear their teams' colors. But of all the teams in the NFL, I would say the Brownies colors are the worst.

This has been discussed several times in the past. Usually the Raiders and Cowboys are up at the top. Try doing a search on the subject.

Top 3

Bills

Bears

49ers
Wow, I don't think I've ever heard someone mention the Buffalo Bills as having a good uni. In my opinion, definitely the most boring and visually unappealing in the League. And the Bears aren't much better. You sure you didn't mean these to be the bottom three? My top 3:

1. Raiders

2. Steelers

3. Browns

Tampa took one of the better unis in football and made it one of the worst. Awful. And they hired Lovie Smith. Nice off-season.

The Jaguars new two tiered helmets make them look like the pro-bowl uniforms which is ironic being that they are the Jaguars

I hate the new Dolphins logo. Looks like an advertisement for A beach resort. The nfl finally cracks down on concussions and what do they do? Take away Flipper's helmet. Disgusting.

best

Giants, Jets, Steelers. plain, almost vanilla unis but they have that classic look to them.

Chargers Powder Blue unis are by far the best! Clevelands brown jersey looks great..

Redskins' dark jersey

Patriots' & Bucs' throwbacks - LOVE the creamsickle jerseys and the helmet logo!

worst

RAVENS, SAINTS all black unis are TERRIBLE..

any Ravens uni,for that matter..

Patriots

Steelers' throwbacks, Bengals, Seahawks, Jags, Rams, Eagles

Worst: Any that look like USFL or NCAA reject unis. Carolina, Seattle, Tampa Bay, New England, Jacksonville, Cinci.

The rest range from barely tolerable (Philly, STL, Tennessee) to awesome (Oakland, Dallas, SD, New Orleans). But those six are so JV that it makes me a little sad somebody checked off on them. :(

There's something extra sad about the Pats, who went from one of the league's greats to the New England Blitz.

I do not know why the USFL gets killed from time to time in these discussions. Look at all the USFL uniforms and tell me which ones would actually look outrageous if worn today.

If you want to cite outrageous and flamboyant uniforms, I think you have to leave the USFL out of it and focus on Arena League Football, the XFL, the UFL and college football.

Because they were mostly examples of poor and/or juvenile design, that grasped at marketing fashion and "what was hot with focus groups" that day, instead of looking to design uniforms that wouldn't be laughable two years down the road. Flames, little lines to designate motion, speedy tilted fonts, and lots and lots of trendy colors and details that were so timeless they changed yearly in the hopes of ticking up sales.

What would be "outrageous" if worn today? Tough to answer that, because as mentioned, about a quarter of NFL teams currently employ the same sort of Oregon Ducks' style, Members Only, focus group design aesthetic that leads to a team having no real brand identity with fans around the league,

There's a reason the same teams always, always, always finish at the top of these lists. It's because the principles of good design aren't just guesses. They're not based on what quick research shows is popular with 18-35 y.o. males today; they're based on what's been popular with broader audiences for the last hundred years. It's the same reason a tux or jeans and a t-shirt still look good today, while everybody's burned pictures of themselves in day-glo spandex and bell bottoms.

The USFL and the bottom-dwelling teams on today's uni design polls are the day-glo spandex of football uni design.

Kudos to the old dudes who designed uni's for some of the teams way back in the day that haven't changed that much at all and still don't look outdated.

Steelers, Cowboys, Chiefs, Raiders are examples

I also think the new Bills unis are great The white jersey/white pants combo is amazing, and among the best in the league. A far cry from those weird Bills unis of the 2000s.

The new Dolphins unis are terrible, it looks the whole team lost a bet.

I can't believe the current Bucs jerseys got approved by the team, they look like one the teams in Any Given Sunday.

Raiders hands down followed by cowboys. Raiders are for sure number 1. Not even a discussion. Crap of a team but I see more athlete ,rappers and celebs rocking the silver and black all the time.

Wow the Browns really destroyed a classic look but so did the 9ers, they look like Texas Tech out there.
This is just an alternate for SF no? I hope so at least.
I realize alternates are just a ploy to sell more jerseys but you don't accomplish that when they're awful.

Maybe they look better "on the shelf" than they do on the field?
SFs uniforms were horrible. When I turned the game on I thought I was watching a Sun Belt team.

Yeah. Them things were gross. They looked like a Russell Athletics creation.

Best:

1-Raiders

2-Steelers (wish they'd go back to block numbers, though--slant looks dumb)

3-Bears

4-Lions

Worst:

1-Seahawks

2-Vikings

3-Eagles

4-Browns

Posted elsewhere, but I saw some fans with a similar uni with gold highlighting the scarlet numbers. They were way better than the local pub sponsor look that the niners trotted out in, but still better than the dreadful Seahawks.

Chargers alternate powder blue

Raiders alternate white jersey with silver numbers

No one else comes close to these two IMO.

Started to put a list together before realizing that basically all uniforms suck if they've undergone major overhaul since the 60's or teams didn't yet exist then. Teams that have stayed the same over time are good. Teams that switched and have since gone back to their more classic look like the Bills/Jets/Giants/Broncos all massively upgraded. The Seahawks of the world, colossal fail getting away from that old grey/green trim - that's the combo I'm going with when I own a team.

It doesn't make any sense because colors on everything (kitchen appliances, wallpaper, etc) was so ugly in the old days. But these Titans and Texans and SB winning Broncos and 2000's Bills all following the latest fad of some puke blue - JFC - get some spine and original character. It's embarrassing.
