Best concert closing song (2 Viewers)

Gotta agree with bdeep here. Look, we salute you. Let's not focus on why. We anticipate you rocking for at least the next few minutes, and hope that you choose to continue to do so after leaving. Now we're going to fire a bunch of guns in your general direction. Also, sorry we haven't put out any music worth listening to since EG was blowing the lines off the notebook in his trapper keeper. We were busy spending so much money that we had to go back on tour decades later because we knew your taste for nostalgia would outweigh your concern that we can no longer bring it. And for that, we salute you.
:lmao:I haven't seen them since the Razor's Edge tour and that was probably the last album of theirs I bought, but it's still the most definitive concert closer ever.

AC/DC - For Those About to Rock (We Salute You)?
BOOM goes the dynamite !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Notorious T.R.E wins the 5 cool points !!
it makes no sense as a closerfor those who just finished rocking, we salute youdumbcool points are worse than Canadian quarters
:lmao:Please. Give me another song that simply CANNOT be placed anywhere in the set but at the end and ends a show with 21 ACTUAL cannon blasts.
Tchaikovsky's 1812 OvertureETA: DAMN YOU JEWELL!
:lmao: Great call, though.

you could place that at the begiingyou know

when people are ABOUT to rock

ya know, like how it was the FIRST TRACK on the album, saluting those about to rock on with the rest of the album

i am stunned by this outcome

i demand the IOC flog some french judges or something
You cannot, CANNOT put this song anywhere but the end of the set. You just can't.
Not as an opener? That would seem to be better for that particular song.
No chance. The rest of the set would be anticlimactic. What you guys are saying is like saying Metallica shouldn't have used "Whiplash" to close about 500 shows because they say "We'll never stop, we'll never quit, 'cause we're Metallica" and then they stop and quit about 45 seconds later.
that's one linethe entirety of for those about to rock is an introduction

Stand up and be counted

For what you are about to receive

Yes, and the last two minutes of that song still rocks as hard as anything has ever rocked. So you are about to receive it.

so why wasn't it last on the album?because it should come first!

Guys, it's not "Operation Mindcrime" where it needs to make sense lyrically to complete a story. They're saluting the fans with cannons and the song is beyond perfect as a closer musically which is why they've closed about 1,000 shows with it and nothing else since God knows when. No other band does this so slavishly and there's a reason for that.

By the way, "Ace of Spades" is probably second and no one said that either. Don't be all bent just because you didn't get it right.
Wait, didn't you sepcifically say as a clue that it made complete sense lyrically? I was skimming, but I thought I read that.

"Best song to smoke a cigarette to after sex: Let's Get it On." [/Evilgrin]

This song really could/should be the opener.

No, I said it works perfectly lyrically. It doesn't have to make sense literally. It leaves the crowd with the feeling that they've been thanked for their attendance, whether or not they say "about to rock" as opposed to "continue to rock."

actually highway to hell would be a good closing song

so why wasn't it last on the album?because it should come first!
I refuse, flat-out REFUSE to believe that a metalhead like you would think this song should be played first in concert. I know you're just funnin' here.
The live album is perfect for starting out with thunderstruck. The crowd waiting for the show to begin and then just hearing the sound of thunder.
:yes:That's a terrific opener.

you shook me all night long

see, it is about the night ending, it's a popular jam

end with that

thank me later

I believe that's typically second to last, always followed by "For Those About to Rock." There's a reason they've been doing it that way for about 25-30 years.

To be fair, EG's idea of foreplay is climaxing, so this is consistent with other areas of his life.

Hammer doing a two song set, opening with You've Got to Pray Just to Make it Today, briding into 2 Legit 2 Quit, then dropping the mic and walking into the crowd, almost but not quite allowing them to touch this, while the crowd screams for an encore and they just know what song it's going to be, and they're all, Hammer, no hammer, Hammer, yes hammer, and he comes back to the stage to play.

you shook me all night longsee, it is about the night ending, it's a popular jamend with thatthank me later
Problem with that is that the song sucks.
well if you are not letting ACDC play songs that suck their concert is gonna be like 6 tunes:)
Come on.... especially in the Bon Scott era, they were terrific.
yeahthey were goodbut it all kind of runs togetherthey almost stuck to their sound TOO muchhighway to the bells o fhell where we salute those who are doing dirty needs.good night Sydney!

I agree with this to an extent. Some bands deliver "what the audience wants" so slavishly that after a while, it's like listening to the same album over and over. Motorhead is like this as well, their albums are usually almost interchangeable except for a few tunes. I usually stop buying albums from bands like this, who stick to a simplistic, tried-and-true approach and never mature much as musicians/songwriters.

Ah the days of kicking back with your girl, drinkin' Yukon Jack and listening to AC/DC. I remember it well.

Among recent metal acts, Godsmack and Sevendust would fall into this category.Sometimes, though, those bands may not be worth following as far as new music goes, but they often deliver a kick-### live experience. You can't go see AC/DC or Motorhead live and walk out feeling cheated.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:Add a pack of Marlboro reds and you've about got it. It's why I was getting laid on a very regular basis while most of the other kids in my high school were listening to Springsteen and hopefully feeling some chick up through her sweater at a house party.

Totally agree. I hardly ever play those CDs any more. In fact, I made a 2-disc "Best of AC/DC" box set off Limewire back in about 2001 and when I need some AC/DC, I'll usually just play that through and then not hear them again for a year or so.

David Gilmour playing Comfortably Numb Live at Gdansk with a whole Orchestra

Played with THE Black Strat and Jimi Hendrix guitar strap
