Best current logo in sports? (No defunct teams) (1 Viewer)

Going with Detroit for MLB. The classic script D is unparalleled on the home unis. Those are my favorite.

For hockey, I'm going Canadiens or Wild.

Football, going Raiders or Lions, actually.

Basketball, current Warriors logo and unis are great.

And props to those who mentioned the Whale.

And we need more Rick Harrison knowledge, too.

MLB- Mets ball logo with bridges and buildings

NFL- Cardinals helmet logo (prior one might have even been better)

NBA- Warriors one with the bridge

Apparently, I am big on bridges on sports team logos.

There was nothing wrong with the old one. That said, the new one is great too.
Without looking at them both, off the top of my head it seemed like they were trying to copy the Louisville football helmets to get an angrier bird.

You don't want to go to Glendale, folks. They have an ANGRY CARDINAL on their helmets!!!

The NBA has the worst collection of logos of all the big four American leagues. Most somehow manage to be both too busy and non-descript. I think the Spurs and Blazers are the best of a poor set. The Mavericks, Raptors and Bucks are among the worst in all of sports.
The NBA's problem is all the teams include the city and mascot names in the logo, leading to the busy/non-descript phenomenon as any actual logo design gets lost in all the words. The MLB teams that include city/mascot all do it with those in small print, embedded in the edges of the circle. The logo inside the circle stands on it's own.

The only NBA teams that do this (BOS/GSW) have pretty good logos.

You mention Spurs and Blazers. Those work because they really have an NFL feel to them, with a small, simple recognizable logo that stands on it's own.
Yup.

The Sixers and Hawks had nice, simple logos back in the 80s.

Sixers then ... Sixers now

Hawks then ... Hawks now
That hasnt been the Sixers logo for 4 years now.

Ranking NHL logos, but only have a handful up so far.

30. Carolina Hurricanes

29. Colorado Avalanche

28. Washington Capitals

27. Vancouver Canucks

26. Tampa Bay Lightning

25. NY Islanders

24. LA Kings
I do not like the Caps, but I love their alternate white jerseys. have always liked their logo.

Kings and Isles among the best IMO, the rest of those indeed suck.
I started following the NHL around 1974-75, so I always will have a soft spot for those "original" Caps jerseys. My goal always has been to get a jersey from that era for all 18 teams that were in existence.

9. Anaheim Ducks

8. Pittsburgh Penguins

7. Boston Bruins

6. Dallas Stars

that leaves the following in the top-5

Detroit Red Wings

Chicago Blackhawks

Buffalo Sabres

Arizona Coyotes

St Louis Blues

Preds logo is nice when it's only blue, white, and yellow. Adding all the hues for shading and an icy look just ruin it.

The Bulls' logo is overrated, though it is simple enough to have staying power. I always thought it was poorly drawn.

The Coyotes? :lmao: Ahead of Boston and Montreal? :lmao: :lmao:

That list can suck a ####.
yeah, that's a glaring error (among many)

Stars at #6 is bizarre to me. I think it sucks.

Also don't like the Ducks logo, and they have them #9.

but Detroit, Chicago, and Buffalo probably belong in the top-5 (if not top-3). I think the Blues are solid too. Montreal should be higher. Rangers too probably.

Regarding Phoenix:

Coming in at No. 2: The Arizona Coyotes.

For sure, some people are going to hate this selection. We’ve already seen the comments about the “roadkill” logo, but we couldn’t disagree more.

The Coyotes logo, which is a massive improvement on their original, is a nice-looking canine with a sun-dried color combination you don’t see every day. For me, I like the Coyotes logo for the same reasons I like the UConn Huskies logo: it’s just a good looking animal. The Coyotes design isn’t a cartoon, or one that looks soft and too happy for its own good. The howling Coyote is a sophisticated design that also sits nice on the jersey with smooth colors. Some will wonder how we ranked it No. 2 in the NHL – I’ll wonder how others don’t see the beauty in it. So goes the logo ranking process.
