Best Dynasty Rules Ever (1 Viewer)

I'm thinking about starting a new dynasty league next year with an emphasis on getting rid of the worst things about redraft, keeper and dynasty leagues. Here's what I'm thinking-

Progressive jackpot - This is probably the best thing about this league. While the champion for the current season collects everyone's entry fees the transaction fees rollover. The 1st team to have a dynasty (repeat or 3 championships) wins the jackpot. At $5 minimum for transaction fees they should be at least $500 every season over approx. 5 seasons $2500 Jackpot!

Dynasty keeper rules - An auction the 1st season for all available players. Seasons 2 and beyond a rookie draft. You pick up a player you get to keep him until you drop him.

Owners - Start with 16 owners but if anyone drops out they are not replaced. This solves the problem of having to try and recruit new owners to take over bad teams. Worst to 1st waivers to get the owners players that dropped out.

Blow it up - Once a team wins the jackpot we start over. Brand new auction with all players available, new owners, new rules if needed. A huge draft party (we only have one every 5 years or so). This eliminates the possibility of a team dominating the league every with a stacked roster.

Thoughts, if your commissioner proposed this would you be excited?

I actually like the jackpot idea a lot. It creates a huge penalty for dropping out without stifling trades. I also like the mechanism for handling teams that do drop out - it will help keep league balance.I think you'd find that 50 cents or a dollar for each transaction would be plenty though. I bet there are at least 500-1000 transactions per year in most of my dynasty leagues.

Sounds intriguing. I'd start with 12 teams - there won't be much attrition among people willing to sign up for something like this and you'll increase the chances of the jackpot being won within our lifetimes.

Ya we normally do $1 transactions but we only raise $150- $200 or so each season. This is the 1st year we did $5 and we are already at almost $500 after 9 weeks. It also encourages trades because they are free.

Wonder how a 15 team schedule would work out.

Ya not an ideal situation having odd teams but I think it's a problem that can be solved in the next 10 months before this league starts.

16 teams is perfect. Play each team once (weeks 1-15), then have your playoffs weeks 16-18. Week 19 you rest. That's why I like 14 team leagues today, but clearly going to 16 will make sense in the near future.

That definitely sounds interesting. Although the first two times I read it, I thought it was you had to have 3 championships back to back.

Repeat OR 3 total makes perfect sense, and sounds like a lot of fun.

not sure it's ideal, but one solution would be to have one team designated the 'bye'/lone wolf. Then have them either play their score vs the league avg pts that week or do something creative. A la If the league dips to an odd # of teams one team is designated the lone wolf for that week. They win 1/2 the jackpot if they beat all other 14 teams. Since this will be incredibly difficult to do, but could pay off handsomely, could lead to some interesting strategy decisions. Some will 'skip' the bye week as it doesn't count in the w/l column and forgoe the 'shot at glory'. ome will beef it up (and trade for the best matchups in that week) to take a serious swing at the pot. This also seems kinda 'up your league's alley'.

I was thinking that if we have 15 teams returning I let all the owners know that the 1st 14 owners that pay their entry fee are in. Not ideal but I feel the fairest way and better than having an odd amount of owners.
