Best Handcuff for Randy Moss (besides Welker)? (1 Viewer)

For those of us who invested a 1st round pick in Randy Moss, who's the best handcuff?

Brandon Tate

Aaron Hernandez

Julian Edelman

Rob Gronkowski

Two of the guys are TE's. Does it even count as a handcuff when you cross over positions? I guess it does if you're playing in a league that doesn't require Te's.I think the next best receiver on the team in terms of the amount of yards and receptions he'll get is Hernandez. For Td's I don't think there will be anyone signficant, a few around 4 or 5.

The simple answer is there is no handcuff. If Moss were to somehow not be in the NE lineup (I doubt it would happen), everyone else would share the wealth and probably nowhere near as well. Without Moss, I think the team's offensive numbers would drop off as Moss commands so much attention defensively and opens up the middle of the field for everyone else. Mediocre running game (at this point) + no Moss = Pats struggle some offensivley.

The fact that it's not 100% clear who the handcuff would be, suggests that a handcuff strategy might not work in that scenario, no?

Tate's value would see the biggest bump if Moss goes down, but he's coming from a low base, so even if moss went down, I'm not sure Tate would outproduce other guys who are probably on your WW right now.

right. The idea behind a handcuff is that you can plug player x into the position vacated by player y and expect similar numbers. True handcuffs don't exist nearly as much as people throw the term around. It is based more on the opportunity provided by the ability of the team around the handcuff than anything. No one can step into Moss' place and put up similar numbers because no one can make the plays Moss does.

Who handcuffs WRs?
I actually did this year, as I took Welker and Edelman, cause when Welker is out Edleman has put up similar numbers.
Yes but there are too many factors to consider when trying to handcuff a WR. Yes he is next in line on the depth chart, yes he is healthy but, you handcuff a RB because you know if the lead back goes down, he will bew top dog. WR targets are too hard to predict given as I said, various factors, weater, defense etc.I kind of get it, but its a waste of a roster spot in my eyes.
