Best RB class ever? (1 Viewer)

I was looking at some of the more recent drafts, and it never really struck me how many potentially great RB's were in the 2008 draft class, take a look.

Chris Johnson

Rashard Mendenhall

Darren Mcfadden

Felix Jones

Jamaal Charles

Jonathan Stewart

Ray Rice

Matt Forte

Ryan Torrain

Tashard Choice

BenJarvis Green-Ellis

Peyton Hillis

Even some lesser guys that have started:

Tim Hightower

Steve Slaton

Justin Forsett

Danny Woodhead

There is at least 6-8 guys that have potential for great careers, and a few more that will have solid careers. I think this is a pretty impressive list, obviously it is early for them all, but we have definitely seen a lot of potential from this group. Anyone else have a stellar RB or any position you care to post class?

You forgot the guy on this year's Madden cover.
1997 HadCorey DillonWarrick DunnTiki BarberThat is 3 of the 25 10000+ yard rushers.
Dunn had 10K?
11k, actually. 10,967 rushing, 15,306 total yards. He kind of flew under the radar because he only had one really big season (1400 rushing yards in 2005, and even that season gets overlooked because he only had 4 TDs with Duckett vulturing), but he was consistently productive for a long time. 5 seasons with 1,000+, 7 seasons with 900+, 11 seasons with 600+.

2008 was by far the best year for Runningbacks Ever, But just to avoid arguments I will say In last 20 years. I don't think that is even debatable.

Just like most fantasy owners, self included, Dunn left a bad taste in your mouth because of all those lost TDs to Duckett and Alstott. Still chaps my hide. However, he was a great player for a long time. If he had gone for more TDs, he might not have last as long b/c he was one small dude.

If anyone wants to provide an argument for another class I'd listen, but if the bolded guys continue on their current production for a good 3-4 years hence, I think they are potential HOF backs. Four potential HOF runners in one class is pretty amazing. Hillis is a longshot.

I started this exact thread already
C'mon, you know people around here dont read before they post, lol...they only care about what they have to say.The draft that had Barry Sanders was the best draft class, why you ask?Cuz it had Barry Sanders, who cares who else was in that draft...it had Barry Sanders.

The Y2K draft is also worth mentioning:

Thomas Jones - Over 10k rushing and 71 total TDs

Jamal Lewis - Over 10k rushing and 62 total TDs - One 2k rushing season

Shaun Alexander - 9453 rushing yards and 112 total TDs - For one year held the TD rushing record

Mike Anderson - Over 4000 rushing yards and 42 total TDs

They had a couple of mediocre guys like Ron Dayne, Sammy Morris and Reuben Droughns. If one guy could have squeezed out roughly 7k yards rushing, I think this class could be tops.

3-4 years? No way. None of them would sniff the HOF if they played only that long. Also, people are giving way more weight to potential and not their actual numbers. McFadden has had 1 good season. *Lots* of RBs have had 1 good season. The only guys on the list that even look close to potential HOFers to me are CJ and JC - and they are still literally miles of rushing yardage away from consideration. Besides 1997, 1995 was great with Curtis Martin and Terrell Davis (guy that looked great but might not make the hall due to injuries). I think 1994 had Faulk and Jamal Anderson (who looked great until he blew his knee). 1983 had Dickerson, Roger Craig, and Curt Warner (another guy that looked awesome until a knee injury).

The depth is certainly there...I just posted about the class of 2k and while they had great performers, the depth pales in comparison to this group. I do think though, the majority of this group will fail to land 4k rushing yards when all is said and done. Woodhead, Forsett,Choice, Hightower and Torrain will strugle to get 3k yards (IMO). Slaton had his good rookie year, but at this rate, he may not top 3000 yards rushing either. Green-Ellis is the kind of guy who if he sticks with the Pats, may squeeze out 5k rushing, but if not, he could easily fins himself in search of carries.Hillis, Rice, Forte, Stewart, Charles, Jones, Johnson, McFadden and Mendenhall are the best of the bunch (and that is a lot). Out of those nine, I would be surprised if more than 3 of them hit 10k rushing yards (but I would be surprised also if two or less did). If I had to bet today, my guess would be Rice, Johnson and Charles. Stewart is a total crapshoot and while some big boys have hit 10k (like Bettis), I am not sure whether Mendy and Hillis will be able to do so. Jones is starting off late (but hey, so did Thomas Jones) and I just get the feeling McFadden may be misused and fall short. Forte had a resurgent year in 2010, and he has a lot of yards, but may not hit 10k rushing (not that it matters), due to his prescence in the passing game (he already has more receptions than Eddie Royal, John Carlson and Dustin Keller at a quick look). Still would not eliminate him from being great in this class though.

Easily 2008 for RBs. And 1996 for WRs, though 2009 has a slight chance.
2009 was good, but a class can only be in the best of all time conversation with multiple elite HOF type guys. Wallace, Nicks, Maclin, Britt, and Harvin are excellent player, but not HOF types.

how can you say that when they have only played 2 seasons???? Any of them guys esp. Nicks could be HOF for sure... shoot all 5 could, what are you saying??

Wr's generally don't even break out until their 3rd our 4th year... Remember Marvin harrison, Roddy white, Reggie Wayne all were nobodies for first couple of years. In 2 years them 5 wrs mentioned have done a pretty good job and their futures look Bright. To say they are not HOF is pretty dull and premature at best.

Not sure if you were j/k here or trying to take a stab at me for some reason, but figured I would reply either way. This may be true for some, but I rarely post new topics. I normally do try and search things first, but I didn't on this one and admitted as much. I check the boards almost daily and I never saw his post and I was just looking over the last 10 drafts or so and it just really stuck out, so thought I would get some feedback from others. I also asked for other great drafts for other positions, so I actually went beyond just the RB position.
