Better Pick Up - E Graham or J Chatman? (1 Viewer)

Outkast

Footballguy
Both are FAs (unbelievable) iyho which is the better pickup going forward in redraft league, no PPR

E Graham - more potent offense but will share carries, esp once Pittman returns

J Chatman - set to get lions share of carries but plays for anemic Dolphins offense & not as talented as R Brown.

I have little to offer in analysis, but excellent question. I watched some of the Tampa game and Graham looked amazing - very hard running and had vision. He looked great, I wouldn't hesitate to pick him up.

spitkicker thanks for that insight, I did not see the TB game. It sounds like Graham was out to prove he's not the 3rd string RB anymore. & he had alot of receptions, which is key for Gruden's RBs.

I'd have to roll the dice with Chatman. More potential carries = more possibilities = (usually) more consistent/productive. I know its Miami, but somebody has to get yards, no? Lemon has targeted his Brown 17 times in two games - add that to ~20 carries (if he holds main job away from Cobb and co.), and you've got a potential RB #2. Cameron was big on this guy preseason.

Don't overlook the fact that TB gave up some early picks for Bennett. I seriously doubt they did that without an intent to use him. I know Graham had a good week this past week, but don't forget who they played. I'm not sure which RB I'd prefer, but my point is that Graham isn't the lock that some people are making him out to be going forward. My gut says go with Chatman.

 I agree that if it weren't for the Bennett deal, this would be a much tougher choice. I'd go with Chatman also. I've ppicked him up in several leagues, some of which I already owned Graham. I'm not sold on Bennett being the answer, but he will steal some touches. Hopefully, Graham will remain as the goal-line back.

I'm not sure he's a lock either but if he isn't it's not because of Michael Bennett but because of Michael Pittman. When Pittman returns he'll either regain the starting role or at least regain his role as the third-down RB which means Graham's receiving output will take a major hit. Even if Graham goes off the next two games (unlikely this week against Jacksonville), Pittman will almost certainly have that third-down role because he is a very good receiver out of the backfield. So Graham's value is going to diminish very soon no matter what. The Bucs brought in Bennett because they are a contender in the NFC and badly needed RB depth. People have really over-reacted to his presence in my opinion. I don't view him as a threat to Graham or Pittman if both are healthy. So taking all of that into consideration I'd go with Chatman. His schedule may be more difficult but if he is the clear starter the rest of the season he'll likely get more touches than Graham as both a runner and receiver.

Thanks packerfan & the rest, 'preciate the responses. Not sure my mind is made up yet. One thing is certain they'll both be rostered this week & should be. I'm not sure we'll see much of a difference in their point totals from here on out, but Chatman will have more carries, which is really the only thing he has going for him over Graham - but it's a biggie.

No doubt Pittman is #1 when healthy. The question is when? He now say 1-2 weeks: LINK + now Bennett = messyThe only problem with Chatman is the coaching staff getting a look at Booker for next year, and yes, schedule. I go with Chatman here...

I think Graham has a chance to put his stamp on the starting job with two more good or great performances. If he has two more good games I think it's possible he remains the starter and Pittman goes back to his third-down role. I think that is very possible. But either way, his value will take a hit when Pittman returns. That's why I think he's a good Sell High candidate this week.
