Color opinions? Not this frame, but their studio application is great for design on paint.

Love the middle (yellow text, fade).
Second this
Sounds good. I don't think the place can hit that rich burnt orange, so thinking about the red and getting some vinyl stickers with the yellow lettering. Not Factor, though. This is strictly a cheap buildup.
Red and yellow look good

Reminds me of this and i hope you blast it pulling into the trail head

I need to gain some muscle mass. And maybe some more hair.

Third one for me, second one reminds me of ketchup and mustard mixed together.
Went with red/gold. Their burnt orange just wasn't the right tone. I will be putting on yellow lettering so it will look a bit like the middle one from that point of view. Looking forward to getting it and building it up.

What's wrong with your current ride? I see you've been out and about again.

If any of you boys hit the lottery and are looking to buy me something, this color combo from Trek is what makes it move for me.

Riding a lot, actually. Nothing wrong with current rig and I love my road bike. It is showing a bit of age, though. Tires limited to 23, rim brakes, etc. And the drive train is Wheeltop, which is fine (actually, it works awesome with 12 speed bits) but I don't want to be down if that goes out - it would take a while to get replacement parts. Combine that with the fact that I really enjoyed building up my gravel bike and I decided to add to the stable. This is a light, climbing build. Frame should be ~800g, wheels are 1320g. 32mm tires, disc brakes. I'd like to rotate them so I never get stuck without a ride (which has happened and it sucks).

So, basically, N+1 and I get to play with more toys.

That Trek color rules. The place I'm getting it through won't do complex painting, but they will do that fade. And I'd never actually own a Madone - I hate the seat mast.

Yea I'm not a fan of the Madone, it's pretentious. I ride a Domane :D

I get the new build, disc brakes and an updated drive train make it seem like you're riding something from the future. Just looked up Wheeltop, never heard of them but I'm pretty exclusive to Trek and Shimano. Having just added a gravel bike to two road bikes and a hybrid, I get the N+1 mentality. Looks like it's gonna be a banger, post it up when you get it done.

Possibly the best thing I've done with my bike in awhile. Being able to ride at 60-65psi is a godsend for most normal people on normal crappy roads.

Bikepacking trip 2 of 4 planned for this summer starts tomorrow. Riding from DC to Pittsburgh on the C&O and GAP. Camping most nights, expecting to get wet and muddy.

Rolling on 44s at like 35 psi (I can fit 50s, but the 44s just won't wear down enough for my cheap *** to replace them yet).

I'll snag some pics of the bike when it's fully loaded.

Super jealous. Likely spelled out somewhere above, but what’s your rig?

So jealous of you tall guys. You can fit 14 liters of water, a tent, and your sleeping bag in the triangle (I guess for you quadrilateral?). Just not fair.

May I ask what these are abbreviations for?

DC - District of Columbia
C&O - Chesapeake and Ohio (canal)
GAP - Great Allegheny Passage
Never heard of this trail/ canal, but looks gorgeous

It very much is, and it’s on my “to ride” list. I often do the W&OD (Washington & Old Dominion) trail path between Purcelville and DC, buts it’s not nearly as scenic.

Generally regarded as one of the best trails out there. Go do it!

I've been using a sram transmission derailleur for a little over a year and have been pretty disappointed in it's performance. I've installed and reinstalled this thing a few times, had it to multiple bike shops, but it was always loud and sounded awful shifting under load which is a big selling point from sram.

I came across a post on reddit about the same type of problems I've been having and it turns out during setup there's a key with 2 positions, A and B (pretty much sets the B gap). During setup there's 2 options, by model and by manually putting in measurements. You get 2 different recommendations on some bikes doing this and it appears if that's the case you need to use the information from the manual input option (we kept using the model input option).

I tried this and it's night and day. It completely fixed my issues and it's working flawlessly. I asked the guys at the bike shop if they ever heard of this and they hadn't. So for any mtb guys with transmission or thinking about it this is something to keep in mind if you're getting less then optimal performance.

Just weighed the bike, without food and water it weighs 58lbs :bag:

ETA: I added a fully loaded bike back to the album above

Been putting in more miles trying to get in shape for a Bend/Sunriver trip with the family. Anyone here done any mountain biking in that area and have recommendations? I've been researching trails a bit and have some things in mind.

My dad and brother wanted to give mountain biking a shot and they have zero experience. Was looking at a shuttle run of Tyler's Traverse that works out to be 15 miles with about 1,500ft of descending. It all seems pretty tame, but I'm wondering if 15 miles will be too much for them.

Also looking for something that is a little more interesting with techier sections that I can just go ride by myself to spice things up a bit.

No experience with the trail system, but 15 miles without a little bit of a riding base could be a little much, if the seat doesn't get them arm pump might, pretty fatiguing on the legs aswell. I'm always surprised how much work going downhill on a mountain bike is. If they're in decent shape they might not have issues outside the seat. :2cents:

Yea, I've done some long downhill days and it's definitely more exhausting than people give it credit for, which makes me wary. We would obviously stop periodically to take breathers and I'd bring lots of high energy snacks.

:lmao:

Doesn't look all that bad from the pictures. When my wife and I go later next year mine will likely be the same. She is in great shape, but isn't a cyclist, so I'll be packing as much of the heavy stuff on my bike as I can to give her the easier ride.

You like those feed bags? I haven't bought anything like that as they look to me like they'd hit my knees.
