Big Ten Basketball 2022/2023 - Return to Power (1 Viewer)

Awesome weekend as a Spartan.

MSU wins the B1G regular season in hockey

MSU wins a tough home game vs. a usually hot shooting high scoring Badger team to take sole possession of 1st place in the conference.

Illinois puts an old fashioned *** whooping on the skunk weasels down south.

Thank you Illinois

I swear, Maryland can not play well at PSU. I don't care if they had their best five players in history and it was five of us schlubs playing for Penn State. That gym is a house of horrors for the Terps.
I need a nap after that one
Good win. Crazy they hadn't won there in what a decade?
Yeah. They were like 2-20 million there all-time  It's one of those weird quirks you see in college sports because - while Maryland is rarely an elite program - they certainly have been consistently better than Penn State and you'd think the law of averages would have them at least at .500 there.

The broadcast showed a stat that, of Maryland's 7 losses, the average defeat is by 3.9 points and I think the largest individual margin of defeat is 6 points (to Washington, of all teams).

Now they have to go to freaking Ann Arbor.
Please beat their ***
Well, I was hoping they'd beat MSU's *** last week

Great night for college basketball tonight. Five games with top 25 teams and spreads under five points. Here’s to rooting for chaos and Maryland!

Ducks could not put away that pesky (but not particularly good) IU team last night. Shelstad with a deep three at the shot clock buzzer kicked off a 10-0 run late to finally get it done. Bittle didn't shoot well from the field but stuffed the stat sheet with a 14-7-6-4 game. And Bamba continues to struggle from the field, but that dude is a problem on D and has really dialed in on that end.

As with most Dana teams it's getting them on the same page on the defensive end that is the key to March success. They seem to be getting there as in these last two games IU shot 40%, USC 34%.

Thank you! ;)

IU has been playing some really good ball lately. Nice win.

Congrats Terps. 5th road win, this one in front of tens of umaa fans at crisler
That was a really good win for MD. UM is a fine team and that's a tough gym to play in. The Terps' defense played great.
Michigan has way too many scoring droughts. Can't see a way they win in E Lansing. Not playing well headed into the tourney. Was good to see them at least keep it close in the 2nd though.

Can someone explain to me why Michigan rivalry game in basketball is Michigan State but in football it is Ohio State?
Relevance.
Exactly.. When U of M plays OSU in football, there's usually something big on the line and both are good teams. In basketball when U of M plays MSU, usually something big is usually on the line and they are normally both good. MSU had a run where they were relevant in football and the rivalry was big between the two and then they went all "Waterboy".. "OH NO, WE SUCK AGAIN!"

Their unforced turnovers that come in bunches are head-scratching as well.

The beginning of the second half was brutal. Through it away like 5 or 6 straight times, but got lucky and Maryland missed their shots.

Some of that was the Terps' D - they jump passing lanes really fast - but UM was really sloppy for about 5 minutes in the 2nd half.

They've been subject to it a lot this season. I think at Purdue, they turned it over 9 times in only 11 or 12 minutes.

Yeah. I mean, you can't flip the ball like that for an extended period of time against good teams.

As for Maryland, they had a whopping FOUR points off of their bench. But I thought the bench gave the starters some good resting minutes without giving up much ground. Michigan was trying to wear Maryland down (I don't blame them) by running out every chance they had.

What do the Michigan fans think about Maye as a HC? I don't pay a lot of attention to UM, but he seems like someone who I'd like to root for.

Can't ask much more from a coach taking over a team that went 8-24 and pretty much had all new players. Seems to be getting the most out of guys who are not super talented.

Disagree a bit with the bolded. Both of UM's big guys are really skilled and they have some other really good players too.

Maryland's in a dogfight AGAIN with Northwestern. Can we get NW into the Ivy League somehow? I'm tired of those guys.

The Terps pulled away late on Julian Reese's Senior Day. He's been a great player for Maryland. I thought he was gone after his sister transferred away to LSU, but he stayed and finished one hell of a career.

I couldn't watch it because I don't have 17,000 streaming subscriptions. I think Maryland cliched the #3 seed in the B1GT, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

As of right now, yes. But they’ll get the #2 seed after MSU destroys umaa tomorrow

Should be a fun rack of games today.

12 EDT Oregon/MSU

2:30 Wisc/UCLA

6:30 Ill/MD

9:00 Purdue/Michigan
On the road heading to Indy for the games today. Looking forward to some great matches. It's almost like Christmas seeing all this talent in person in one day. Going to be a blast.

You going to both sessions no matter what happens in the noon game?
Yep. We're planning on being there the whole weekend.
