Big Ten Basketball 2022/2023 - Return to Power (2 Viewers)

Off work on Thursdays. First rounds of B1G and NCAA in the next 8 days. :excited: :banned:
I am disappointed that Michigan drew the early seeds. At least we have finals during the day and no afternoon classes so I will be able to listen to it on the radio while I grade finals. Still, I'd much rather be at the bar or in my basement.

Are you kidding? Tubby's job was seriously in jeopardy?
Of course it was. The team had imploded in the Big 10 schedule in 2010 and 2011, and this third year they go from being ranked #8 earlier to not receiving a single vote in rankings last week. It's remarkable with this talent they could go from shoe-in NCAA to maybe on the outside looking in over 5 weeks, but it is a reoccuring issue. How it happened, struggling to get to 50 points with these scorers, is tough to watch. I don't personally agree he should be let go because I remember well the failure of previous post-Clem Haskins coaches. However, no way was Tubby generally considered untouchable after losing 8 of 11 with this roster. I don't see how they can miss the NCAA now, but let's say they lose the last 3 and do miss, I think there is legit chance he would be gone. Let's face it, the team has proved it is capable of playing Duke close and beating MSU and Indiana, but (in my scenario) loses 12 games? The great wins make the losses that much more inexplicable, and that has to reflect on coaching.
Down 32-11 in the first half, looks like they are on track to finish up the Big 10 with losses to Nebraska and Purdue. Maddening.
9 points in the first 15 minutes of the Big 10 tourney... :lmao: and immeditately down 21-9.Something seriously wrong with this team, whether it is Tubby or something else.

Not looking anything like a tourney team. I'd rather have my team suck all the the time than flash great play and then implode.

Having been at the Gopher-Hoosier game, I whole heartedly disagree with your second statement. But I agree with your first. :bag:

FWIW... My 77 year old mother thinks Tubby is hot. No joke.

Paul buries a J and Minnesota at the buzzer.

Illinois looked atrocious. Only shot 32% and outrebounded by a dozen. Great ending to an otherwise terrible game to watch.

Michigan already having issues early with PSU
:coffee: Relax sparty.I like how the B1G tourney sets up for Michigan. Revenge has been served in a laugher against PSU. Now they can play for revenge against Wisconsin. Then either Illinois who I know they can beat, or Indiana with revenge on their minds yet again. Good things.U of M outrebounding opponent, a measily 3 turnovers, and 83% on 23 FT attempts. All good things.

Front of the line starts

HERE
They deserve it because they survived the 2012/2013 B1G Season. That was no small feat.Good move by the players to distance themselves from their dooshy coach and not let him in the team pic.
Don't get me wrong, I completely understand how Crean could rub people the wrong way. Indiana fans, in general, have some serious doubts about his in game/situational coaching as well. I also don't like how he can let his emotions get the best of him.

But I have to respect how far he has taken the program in such a short amount if time. Indiana was sitting on nothing but tradition and a fan/booster base; the roster was basically empty. Crean getting players like Yogi and Zeller to not leave the state was a monumental task at the time.

Crean sucks, he's only the 3rd best coach in his own family.

Love Gus Johnson.

Ugh, those UW D-Bags are suddenly on fire from the 3 pt line. Insurmountable lead now when you're playing UW style.

So much for revenge. U of M left to lick their wounds and hope to catch fire in the tourney.

Michigan down to at best a 3rd seed.
No way they are still ranked 6th, even though they are now 9-7 over their last 16.
I was pretty confident in having them in the Final 4 because I think Burke is that good, and the rest of the top teams are just as mediocre, but now I dont know. Big 10 I think is so much better this year than the rest of the country that 4 teams in the Elite 8 wouldnt surprise me (if IU, UM, MSU, and OSU could all get there without knocking another off).I missed the game today, but any reason why Morgan only played 8 minutes? Only had 2 fouls so that cant be why.

A couple teams will have good conference tournaments and knock them down a bit. They really don't deserve a 2 seed the way they have played lately. Granted they played a tough schedule, but they still need to be able to win most of their tough games to justify a 2 seed.

Burke is a tremendous player, but he needs a LOT more support than he's been getting lately. Seems like late in games, the other 4 guys stand and watch Burke handle the ball. No one else is making plays. Their lack of an inside presence is killing them right now.

Hope State doesn't lay an egg tonight. They have a good chance at a #2 seed if they win.
