It's odd that the guy from Michigan (Bredan Quinn, from mlive) didn't pick LeVert. He had Walton on his list, however.I didn't think the idea that Levert was the best guard in the Big10 was very controversial. The Big 10 BBall Beat writers did their preseason polls here and Levert received the 3rd most votes. There wasn't a single Gopher to get a vote.Gopher homer here and I'd take Levert over either of the Gophers.I just looked at 3 NBA mocks and they had Levert at 6, 17 and 10...didn't see either Gopher going in the first 2 rounds. I firmly stand by the UM backcourt.
I had high hopes for Hollins when he burst on to the scene as a freshman, but he just hasn't delivered on his potential. He's a nice guard, don't get me wrong, but he needs a killer instinct to assert himself offensively to get him to the next level, but I don't see it enough.
Mathieu is bi-polar. He can absolutely take over games when he is aggressive, but there will be games where you wonder what he is even bringing to the table.

Yep, Blackmon can flat out score. The frontcourt is ridiculously thin. They could use Devin Davis right now ... or Luke Fisher if he had not transferred.Hoosiers with the win!
First IU game I have been able to watch this year. That front court is so thin, but man this Blackmon kid can fill it up. Did not look like a Freshman.
Haven't played anyone yet. They will get some good competition in Maui, however. I think Purdue is being significantly underrated in the Big Ten this year. Most places I have seen them picked to finish between 11-13. I think they will be in the middle of the pack and make the tournament.Purdue is 3-0!

Watching the game I kept thinking this was their "small" lineup. Nobody big ever came in.Yep, Blackmon can flat out score. The frontcourt is ridiculously thin. They could use Devin Davis right now ... or Luke Fisher if he had not transferred.Hoosiers with the win!

Someone needs to put a stop to this.Uh oh, Nigel Hayes is developing a 3 point shot.
They will be ok. They have 3 top line players in LeVert, Irvin, and Walton. The freshman just need to fill roles. Where they will hurt is at the 5. But luckily, there are not too many teams that have dominant, back to the basket big men. It's might be a tough year for Michigan, especially the first half. There are a lot of young players that need to contribute and they just aren't ready yet. I think UM finishes around 5 in the Big 10, but could improve on it if the youngsters develop.

I can't see him attempting a ton of them, nor hitting 45% or anything crazy. But having that threat is nice.Someone needs to put a stop to this.Uh oh, Nigel Hayes is developing a 3 point shot.
Boilers starting to make this interesting.Purdue getting hammered by Kansas State.
Matt Painter's chair is getting warm.

Scary thought for other teams...guys growing a few inches over the summer and now 2 big men that can shoot.Uh oh, Nigel Hayes is developing a 3 point shot.
Rich Conway said:Terps weren't great tonight, but managed to join the party. Dez Wells continued a trend from last year of slow starts, then picking it up in the second. Melo Trimble, wow. Wasn't a traditional point guard tonight, but put up 31, including 13-14 from the line. Overall, not great, but good.
Oh, and hey there. I'll miss the old conference, but football season has felt "bigger" than it has in ages. I'm hoping basketball will be just as exciting.
Good lead on Iowa State so far. Would be a good win if they can hold on.Terps weren't great tonight, but managed to join the party. Hanner looked good in the first two games. Ever since the SMU game, he's looked soft, out of position, bites on every pump fake, and just hasn't been good. They need him to contribute on the glass and defensive side or this team is going to be in major trouble. And Hoosiers lose to Eastern Washington. Going to get blasted in the Big 10 by every team that has any player taller than 6'8".
I agree he looked a lot better than last year early on. He can jump out of the gym and but plays so stiff and I swear he's skinnier than he was as a freshman.Hanner looked good in the first two games. Yep. Two good teams going hard early in the year. It's going to be fun season. That was a fun game.
81st coming into tonight. Pretty solid.24-5 run
Michigan has to be near the top in basketball assists per basket. I'm not sure why teams keep trying to trap and press Michigan. We play like 3-4 guards at a time.
That was a nice win for the Terps. Seems like it's been forever since they beat a ranked team OOC.Good lead on Iowa State so far. Actually fell after last night in that stat. When they are playing well, it's happening. Not as much as I thought.81st coming into tonight. Pretty solid.24-5 run

Impressive win for Maryland; Iowa State looked a bit out of sync defensively, but that is a great tournament resume win for the Terps. That was a nice win for the Terps. Hopefully, Turgeon can keep some of THESE players instead of having 8 of them transfer after this season.
They get a really good UVA team in the BT/ACC Challenge. Off the top of my head, that's the only resume-builder they have left before B1G play starts.Impressive win for Maryland; Iowa State looked a bit out of sync defensively, but that is a great tournament resume win for the Terps. That was a nice win for the Terps. I'm still trying to recognize who's who on the Terps. I've seen so little so far that everyone besides, Dez, Surfer Jake, and Dodd are strangers.Yup, UVA and OK St. left. Great win last night, and good to see Nickens and Wiley contribute. Iowa St. had a late run until they committed that flagrant foul on Layman with 90 seconds left. It was weird; he didn't even attempt to pretend he was making a basketball play, just shoved him.
Tough one for the Wolverines. Nova is really good.
I was really impressed with the way they responded in the 2nd half. Nova was completely shutting them down, they had missed 12 straight shots, and burned 3 timeouts in 25 seconds. Then went on a 16-3 run.For as young as they are, this Michigan team played well together last night. They'll only get better.
Much improved. Definitely a shot blocker/alterer. Rebounds OK, hands are closer to Padgett than Jordan Williams, though. If he gets it down low, he can score now and then. Better than Cleare ever was. Definite potential. Cekovsky will be better, though.I've only seen these two, though. Our cable company took away ESPN3, so I haven't been able to see the earlier games. Gonna have to switch to DirecTV, looks like.Uruk-Hai said:I'm still trying to recognize who's who on the Terps.
