4 games in 4 days. So fun to watch this ugly game.
IMO Michigan fans should be complaining more about Purdue getting a 4 seed above you. That one I don’t get.Conference tournaments are stupid. Consider this:
Michigan beats Wisconsin during the regular season, finishes higher than Wisconsin in the BIG standings, and beats Wisconsin for the BIG tourney championship,. They have very similar W-L records (24-9 vs 26-8).
Of course Wisconsin ends up a #3 seed and Michigan a #5 seed for the NCAAs
I guess my point is less outrage and more that for some conferences their tourney has meaning b/c it is life or death. Teams that win get a berth where they otherwise could not.IMO Michigan fans should be complaining more about Purdue getting a 4 seed above you. That one I don’t get.Conference tournaments are stupid. BINGO!(other than extra revenue of course).
All it really does is basically solidify the committees pre-BTT seeding. One reason for that is the timing of the tourney. It’s purely for money and ratings.This. The B1G usually gets so many teams in that the committee would have to redo the whole bracket at the last minute. Same with the SEC this season. These major conference tournaments are basically party conventions. One reason for that is the timing of the tourney.

Good point. I was speaking more in general. The committee had Michigan at #17 overall and Purdue #14 overall. Seems it would be very easy to just switch the two, unless CBS has a deadline for getting the graphics for the brackets done. Anyway, still BIG champs
And to stick them both into playing Thursday games. I get there are alot of moving parts but that's harsh as well.Conference tournaments are stupid. Consider this:

Yea...we got super lucky. I guess that's payback from all the horrible seedings we got in the 80s and 90s.IMO Michigan fans should be complaining more about Purdue getting a 4 seed above you. That one I don’t get.Conference tournaments are stupid. Consider this:

Head-scratcher for me. Not so much for why Maryland would do it, but why would Williams? I get that he was at a football school, but he's coming into a horrible situation. Every single player I could name is out of there - including one I didn't even know was there because he got poked in the eye and missed the entire season. MD's top commit for next year de-committed yesterday. Williams has no ties to the area that I'm aware of, so it's not like he can call in favors to quickly restock the roster. And there's no AD in place.Buzz Williams to Maryland? Interesting hire. I saw him up close when he was at Marquette for about 5-6 years. People were surprised when he left Marquette for Virginia Tech, a move the local alumni considered a step down in prestige and opportunity. His reputation is that he's good at rebuilding programs that are in the dumps, but often rubs people the wrong way and has a hard time staying put. I'm not sure he's the right fit for the Terps but they definitely could do worse. He does win games and I believe has had success everywhere he's gone.
I made the mistake of not looking away quickly enough. It looked brutal. If you're squeamish about injuries at all, I recommend not watching the Pharrel Payne incident in Maryland's game against Marquette yesterday. Hopefully it looks worse than it was in terms of keeping him out.
Getting Cluff and a healthy Jacobsen are huge for this team. Omer Mayer could be really good. Crazy that he's already played pro ball and is only a Freshman. Tough to see Colvin leave, but he wasn't getting PT last year and probably wouldn't get much this year either. Was cool to see him hit the game winner for Wake.It was last week, but Purdue's demolishing of a good Texas Tech team was pretty awesome. The second half of the first half was some of the best basketball I've seen in quite some time.
Indiana taking it to Kansas State now also. That was one impressive half of basketball by Michigan.
2 really good games. If they can manage to hit 3s at a decent rate look out. That was one impressive half of basketball by Michigan.
KSU was averaging 92, only got to 69 last night.Indiana taking it to Kansas State now also. That was one impressive half of basketball by Michigan.
Won by a combined 110 points. Going to be hard to top that. That was an insane 3 game run. Can't see them playing any better.
The 30 point win over Auburn is probably also factored in. With transfer portals and freshman, I think when beginning of season odds are being set, there’s not always a ton of confidence because there’s so much unknown about these teams. Michigan just went through 2 ranked teams like they were Eastern Kentucky and Monmouth. That’s worth a lot more than any preseason predictions and estimations about what a totally revamped team might look like.Is it just me or was Michigan +4000 for the natty yesterday and today they are +1000?
Did it really drop that much after a 40 point win over the Zags?
