I think the single most annoying thing I've seen on ESPN in the past couple years was Chris Berman doing the home run contest..How many times can one man say, "Back.. back.. back.. back......" in one session? It used to be cool on Sportscenter, but now it's worse than being a bad cliche.

Joe T. > :tfp: < Mcguire
I think you just nailed why Sunday Night Football was so terrible and why Monday Night Football won't be as bad even though they have the worst of the three moving over there.Paul is bad. I think he's bad in an entertaining way, but he's bad.

Joe is brutally terrible. I see nothing entertaining about him at all other than making fun of his broken leg, but that's laughing at him, not with him.

When you combine the two, they compound the badness 100-fold.

While I can understand why Merrill Hoge is on the list, the one thing I can say for him is that he has been an absolute guru when it comes to predicting the outcome of Steelers games the past 2 seasons.

The morning Pittsburgh ESPN show has Hoge on once a week to break down the Steelers matchup in the coming week and make a prediction.  Damned if he isn't close to 100% accurate.  Last year he predicted the entire season correctly week by week.  This year, the only game I think he got wrong was the loss to the Bengals.

He may be a tool but he and Jaws do a great job breaking down film.
And he's 9-1 predicting playoff games (straight up) so far. He picked NE to beat DEN.

Hate Stu Scott. Stop trying to pretend you are ghetto man. Youre not.Hate Chris Berman. Dude, take a breath while you are talking. His jokes are so tired too.Suzy Kobler.....mmmmm I like kobler.......Micheal Irvin....too much personality...Steve Young....about as exciting as glue drying......Salsbury steak isn't that bad, I like him a lot better than most of the other guys.Theisman would be the worst without question is Hodge got fired.Hate Merril Hodge the worst though. Man, that guy knows nothing about football. I think there are 100 guys on this board alone that would make a fine replacement for him. He sucks bad.Tom Jackson should have his own show without all these other losers. He is the only one I actually like on the football segments. Anyone catch Butch Davis on Playbook? Oh man, he is so bad it is painful.

But give him some props for his predictions this year. He's the best of the 8 guys they have picking games all year long. Two games ahead of Salisbury for combined regular season and postseason predictions.Regular Season

Playoffs so far

That doesn't make him a guru in terms of describing strategy, matchups, etc. but he sure can pick a game.

Everyone is giving him props for betting the Steelers the past two years. Wow, really hard. He picks the Steelers to win every friggin week.Uhhh Hodge, the Steelers versus Superman.....

Hodge: I'll take the Steelers by 4.

I like Jaws, Schlereth, and Jackson. I liked Eric Allen's analysis when he was with ESPN as well. Enough has been said about Jaworski here. Jackson isn't afraid to state his views, but his opinions are rooted in something you can respect. Even when he's wrong, you can understand where he's coming from and it's hard to look down on him. I like Schlereth's style. Unlike a lot of the ESPN guys that have started to parody themselves, Schlereth seems to do a good job maintaining a regular man on the street vibe. He was also the only NFL player on ESPN's draft special that had a clue about fantasy football.

He may have picked the Steelers to win most of their games the past two years, but if you click on the links, you'll see he did pretty well picking all of the other games too. It's easy to talk about how bad the media is, and I do it too. But in this case, the numbers speak for themselves: 70% regular season games and 9-1 in the playoffs.Think what you want. He has at least some insight into football to be the best out of the 8 "experts" this year.

Edited to add: I don't think he's distinguished himself in his evaluation of Vince Young. Like many of the analysts, he seems to be shooting for dramatic effect rather than good analysis. I can understand if that's part of your reason for disliking him.

I like Salisbury.
His role in the "production" is to be the bad guy. If you told him that you liked his style, he'd probably laugh and ask "WHY?"There's no way that he could be that much of a #### head in everyday life

Irvin... (Irvin... Irvin... Irvin...) <Echo from yelling so loudly. Theisman 2nd. The all-too-common combination of arrogance and ignorance that drive me up the wall. Steak goes 3rd. Young 4th for sucking off the QBs and generally being boring.

Yet you keep watching. ESPN perhaps isn't so stupid.
There's not really another choice for Sunday night football. However, for Sunday pre-game, I find that I watch ESPN just for those glorious moments when Tom Jackson can't hold back the look of sheer disgust at Michael Irvin's comments. I REALLY enjoy watching that!

I need more options to take this vote seriously. Please add Irvin, Stephen A. Smith, Stuart Scott, and Chris Berman (yes, I said Chris Berman) to the list.

Salisbury

The arrogance earns him the King of Tools title.
No doubt he is a usc alum! What makes him an expert when criticizes other qbs in the nfl. Here are his career stats:40 | 318 577 55.1 3824 6.6 19 19 | 30 15 0. Quite impressive especially that 19tds to 19ints! ESPN IS A JOKE!
