I agree with you. I totally get the offensive line narrative. Rivera hasn't done enough to improve the talent on the offensive line and this is seriously hurting the team. BUT - we know what talent we have there and need to call the game and execute accordingly, taking advantage of their strengths and guarding against their weaknesses. We need more scheduled quick throws and screens and things like that. Howell is still holding the ball too long, looking for the hero play, so he too has a role in this. Yes, it's the offensive line but OC and QB also play a role. And to make things worse Bienemy didn't vary his playcalling, but instead called plays for Howell to stand in the pocket time after time. I'm not saying Bienemy's terrible or a failure or anything like that, just that he was too stubborn in this game. Few screens or rollouts, just standing in the pocket to get flattened. Washington's offensive line on the other hand is terrible.not trying to take anything away from Buffalo D, they are great, but Washington's offensive line is literally playing the worst game as a unit I can ever remember seeing. And Gibson should be stappled to bench now. Upside is not worth the fumbles.![]()
The other thing is, just because you are getting beat, it doesn't mean you cannot run the ball. I read where Brian Robinson, Jr. was only on the field 20 snaps. Dude ran 10 times for 70 yards! Maybe give him the ball more. I get you are behind but you are getting your young QB destroyed every play; do something different.
I actually do think Washington is improved from last year but this game also shows how they measure up against the elite. If we don't draft offensive lineman in either the first or second round next year I'm not sure what I'll do. Disappointing game but they are still 2-1 and it's a long season. Hopefully Howell learns how to play quicker and get the ball out and Bienemy learns to vary up the game plan...
