Blackjacks NFL Mock Draft #2 (Early April) (1 Viewer)

Has NYJ ever traded out of the 1st rd? I don't seem them doing it this draft.
New Ball game with Idzik, I can see it happening but, not sure if they got the value here....

If you look at Draft Trade charts, the Jets should get two 2nd round picks in THIS draft for that #18 pick... Not one now and one next year, and not Atlanta's which will probably be a later one..... what a let down that would be. Not happening.

Might work out better if the Jets get the Atlanta 2nd this year plus Jax 2nd this year and the Jets throw in a 4th...NOW we're cookin'!!! Jets with THREE 2nd round picks would be nice...

What I do agree with is the depth at WR affords the Jets to do a lot of things with the 1st rnd pick and a good chance it's used on D.

I feel like after the 1st few WR"s, you can wait till round 2.

I agree with the above and that's why I had them moving back. I could see Idzik compiling picks for next year when a few TOP NOTCH qb's will be available and having the ability to move up to get one of them. The move to bring in Michael Vick shows their confidence in Geno Smith. If they have a bad year (which I honestly I don't expect) an extra #2 might help them move from the teens into the top 10 to get the QB for the future.

As for moving back this year I think after the top 2 wr's there are about 4-6 other guys who offer a lot of value. The NYJ can still acquire on of these guys in the 2nd round still and then address another position with their own #2.

That at least was my thought process.

The move for Vick "Shows" nothing about confidence in Geno... They needed a Backup, many got a lot of $$$ . He was one of the last left and had experience in this offense plus Marty's Blessings...

THIS is a great draft, deep at positions they need like WR, TE and CB....IMO Idzik is shooting to use picks now over later...He would take pieces for next year but has no "plan" or thoughts about for QB targeting next year.... Now if Bridgewater or some QB falls this year, I wouldn't put it past him. Or targeting one of these 2nd tier QB's for this year, especially in a trade down scenario like this... But, planning for "Next Year's" QB crop is tough, Heck ppl said last year not to take a QB b/c this year's crop was so stellar and now you have ppl saying these QB's might fall and Next year's is "The One"

Again, I like the WR depth part of the thought process.... Just give the Jets BOTH 2nd round picks this year and "we" will throw back a 4th to make the Trade Chart Work out to the 900 points for the 18th pick!!!

I will be SHOCKED if Vick is not the starting QB for the Jets week 1 and I actually think if he is and can stay healthy (BIG IF) the Jets have a good shot to be in the playoff hunt. I personally am not a Geno fan and it appears as the Jets aren't sold either IMO. Maybe with bter wr's than what he had to work with last year he can show me more.

Vick is making $4M - backup QB money - that's a lower cap number than Matt Moore, Orton, Cassel and just a little more than Chase Daniel, Fitzpatrick and Hasselbeck.

On top of that, Rex is likely on the hotseat.

He has taken arguably the best back-up QB in the NFL and if - which is total speculation - he has Geno on a short leash then he's given himself decent odds to regain control of his season and career.
