Blake Bortles - Official Thread (2 Viewers)

RN - I respect that you're willing to die on this hill, but there's no way to sugarcoat it: Bortles looks god-awful tonight.

No matter how this guy turns out, this has been my 2nd-favorite thread of the year.

Nothing can top the shenanigans in the Cutler thread.

Bortles looks really bad. Poor pocket awareness. Not very accurate. Mechanics are bad. Doesn't read the field.

The question is how long do they stay with him since he was such a high pick? All next year too?

From your article.

The 21-13 home win on Thursday Night Football over the Tennessee Titans was his best performance to date.
13-26 115 yards 4.42 YPA 1 TD 0 INT is his best game? He is QB41 out of 41 QB on PFF.

The Jags spent a high pick on him so I guess they are kind of forced to stick with him after this year. Sucks for the Jags. If he continues to play this poorly how long into next year do they stick with him?

Seems like youre only seeing what you want to see.

I'm trying to think of a QB that played this poorly for an extended period of time and turned it around the next year. I'm not coming up with one but I'm sure there are some that have so maybe he turns it around next year.

How about this guy?
Yeah I thought of him but he flashed he could read a defense and actually throw a football properly. Plus Bortles is getting worse. His last 5 games are really bad mang.

Bortles has been getting worse as the season goes on it seems. He was downright terrible last night. Just missing easy throws, bailing on his pocket and mechanics deteriorating. I'm guessing a lot of this is due to the Oline in front of him being poor. Then again, that's exactly why I never thought he should have taken over for Henne as early as he did. Hopefully this doesn't shell shock him for future growth. I really liked what I saw from him early on and think he has franchise QB potential.

I need to see a game or a half where I can go ok if he learns how to do that consistently he'll be good. Manning had that a couple times in his rookie year. Even if his rookie year in it's entirety wasn't that great.

Manning had Marshall Faulk and Marvin Harrison in his rookie season. Which Hall of Famers does Bortles have at his disposal?

Do we get to wait 20 years to provide the answer?

Yeah but they aren't screwing his footwork up or locating the ball on the inside shoulder when it should be located on the outside shoulder. A better OL may help but I'm not sure I've seen a worse QB performance than last night all season. It was that bad.

Easily worst QB performance I've ever seen is Josh Freeman's game against the Giants in a Vikings uniform. That was the Vince Carter Slam Dunk "it's ovah" terribad performance of all time. No comparison.

You must not have seen the cleveland game last week.

It probably helps to have a Marvin Harrison. I think Bortles will be fine. Not everyone can be drafted into a situation like Russell Wilson.
