Blizzard in Minneapolis (1 Viewer)

I have a feeling this is going to be a nightmare scenario for most fantasy leagues.
moving the game to another stadium is good for the Giants, not so good for the Vikings.the Giants defense will be all over the Vikes in this one.
Where would they move this game to?
Green Bay? :jawdrop: The stadium is available, no roof needed, and a true cold outdoor day.Favre's streak continues there.
Wouldn't that be the exact opposite of a home game for Minnesota? Also, wasn't it the Giants who got an extra home game a few years ago vs the Saints after Katrina? They played it in the Meadowlands but called it a home game for the Saints, which was ridiculous.

That's why the answer is Detroit.

That's not unusual in these parts.
Thanks, Copernicus. The point is that is might present a problem as the 50+ guys traveling from NY aren't likely prepared to play in that kind of weather. Of course that is a situation that can be remedied, but it will still be something the league has to think about.
And the Vikings would be prepared for it? Whatever the solution is, the teams will have to adapt.

The Vikings Would Be Much Better Prepared Than The Giants (Since The Giant's Would Probably Not Have Their Cold Weather Gear With Them And Would Need It Sent To Them While Minny Would Have Quick Access To Their Cold Weather Gear)

I'm sure the Vikings have surplus gear. The Giants could borrow them.

This, minus the excessive capitalization.

Having equipment sent creates a disadvantage how?

Awesome, game ppd. for the time being and will be played tomorrow, now lets talk about games that are being played today for the love of god.

Talk about beating a dead horse.

( I cant say it to NFL network so I'll say it here)

I am watching the NFL Network to find out where they are playing the game. There's nothing Sapp and Irvin can say that interest me about anything else.

12 other games dont interest you, well umm then your not a football fan, as well as I am 10000000000% certain as soon as the game has a new place it will be all over the place, as well no matter how soon they announce it has no effect on anything today or any other NFL games.so again why the dramatics?

I don't have a dog in this fight, but I do find it funny that a Saints fan would be complaining about the media-created drama surrounding an NFL team.

OH NOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! I've been called out! :lmao:

I didn't say they didn't interest me. But at this point, it's all fantasy playoffs for me, and info I need is going to come from sources other than morning shows 3 hours before the game. And same as the stadium news, any info I need is going to be posted here, there, and everywhere in plenty of time for lineup decisions.

The roof collapsing is big news, whether you care or not.

Vikes owner should be fined by NFL if roof is really a prob.

(I don't know what to believe in this stuff because it snows so much in Minny normally)

He's responsible for having a staff that maintains a building so fans can attend games and players can play. A lot of snow is not surprising in Minny and a building has to be built to handle it.

I was also supportive of angry NY fans grumpy that their new stadium lights kept going out and how that was a prob and...it doesn't matter what, if the NFL owners are inviting people to their house then it better be in good condition. The money spent on a ticket should assure fans of that.

Have you EVER been to the metrodome? It's a horrible facility in the first place let alone the roof collapsing. There's a reason the Vikings NEED a new stadium. If you ever want to pee in a trough that's the place you'll want to be.As far as the roof it's just a big cloth balloon. Yeah you could have people up there shoveling it off during the storm but then when someone got killed when they fell off or the roof collapsed anyway you'd be liable for that.

You really have no idea what you are talking about. We got 17+ inches, which is the 5th most on record for a single day. Virtually everything shut down yesterday, and plows had been pulled off the road until 2am this morning. This was not a regular snow fall.

:lmao: Great, so it was the 5th-largest snowfall on record....which means that 4 other times in, what, the last 100 years (??) we would have seen the roof collapse. Bri's point is that if you build an indoor stadium in Minnesota, part of the design spec needs to include ability to withstand unusually large snowfalls....because it happens. As you yourself noted, 4 times in history (which again, probably only goes back ~100 years) it has snowed EVEN MORE THAN THIS.

Yep, I'm sure glad you guys know how to beat nature. San Fran should be held responsible for their stadium cracking in the earthquake years ago, and New Orleans should have been prepared for that hurricane.

All this shows is that lots of snow events happen overnight and are recorded as two day events. This was in no way an unusual or unexpected snow event for the area.

They're used to dealing with this kind of stuff in Minnesota and the storm is supposed to be moving out of that area soon. Still, I wonder if it will get pushed back to a late game?
We have not had storm like this since 91. Been checking my sidewalk every so often up to 14 inches of snow here in Saint Paul and it's not done yet. Beind the snow is temps in range of 4 to 10 below zero and a nasty wind. Oh wait we still have that damn dome!.... Using Weather.com futrue radar the heavy snow should stop by 8PM with the light snow done by midnight, I say the Gaints should fly in to the Twin Cities in the morning and bus right to the dome.
If you're saying there hasn't been a storm like this in many years, it's not out of the question that the fabric roof at the Vikings stadium could collapse. I think it's happened before.
Wow, you were right on that one!

I don't know anything about construction and earthquakes but california is still standing so...admittedly I just don't know on that part of the topic.I don't see how a hurricane in Nola is comparable to snow in Minny. Seems to me one is far more common

I've lived in the adirondacks and vermont for many years. I have family in Buffalo, friends in Wisconsin and.... no way is 17 inches the 5th most for a single day.On this specific day in history maybe but geesh I just quickly checked some arbitrary site and Minny gets 5-6ft of snow per season and the avg temp was well below freezing for winter. That means it's expected to snow and consequently there's tons of plows, workers, and salt ready for every season. Building must be built to withstand the snow and citizens are probably used to paying high heat bills and insulating their house well and everybody probably owns a shovel or two.Don't act like it snowed in the bahamas

Had a wonderful conversation with someone from the NFL late last night.

Initially, the NFL was not pleased about the Giants travel. More than 40 reporters made it from the NY NJ area to Minny and the TV crews (which involves several trucks of equipment and 50 or so workers) all made it and it wasn't "phew we barely made it." The reporters all traveled by plane and not on a chartered flight either.

We discussed plenty real quick and ...insurance is the reason for this game delay in every way you twist it. The assumed risk is too great. That doesn't really change this thread or anything just keep in mind a vehicles, stadiums, even players are insured and some company and or employer is assuming risk.

FBG26, Minny governor said "There may be some school delays" in regards to monday morning.

May? and delays not closings?

Yeah I'd say that area is well prepared for such a weather "event"

He was proabably referring to that area and not for the entire country.

Records for Minneapolis10/31/91 28.411/2985 21.11/22/82 20.0 (Last time the dome went down)1/20/82 17.412/11/2010 17.1 (This last storm)11/11/40 16.8There is your top 6 Snowfalls. Now in the Metro Area (Minneapolis/Saint Paul and Suburbs) There was 21 inchs in Shakopee MN. 5-6 Feet snow ?? Are you nuts? Mabyee in the ArrowHead over 300 miles north of here. (North and east of Duluth MN) Where they have had 40+ inch snow falls but not here in the Cites. Last 10 years we been lucky get 2-3 feet snow a year over span of 5 months that's nothing, couple 3-4 inch snow falls a month. I remeber the Storm of 91 that took us to our knees for couple days, it was all wet heavy snow.I also recall the storms in 82, I was just kid but I recall digging massave snow tunnels for fun! This was what pre-pong! or at least pre atari!Anything over 6 inches these days brings this city to it's knees, it's not the Minnesota of old. I can count on one hand since 91 the number of 10-12 inch snow falls we have had. So yes, the city was pretty much closed down, you can blame gas prices if want! I even sold my Z71 Chevy for family SUV to save gas becuse winters have become so mild here.Oh forgot to add it's already the 5th snowiest Decemeber here. With another 2-4 expected on Wed.

One hell of call, I though if dome made it though the storm of 91 it would be fine with this snow fall. The Storms in 82 when it did fall down (When it fell in 81 it was not built fully built yet) it was 37inchs of snow with just one day of rest.Edit: Good god I should not type and watch football at the same time.
