BoostFuel -- Gas delivery service (1 Viewer)

Yeah, I'm not seeing the great value here. Getting gas isn't much of a hassle. I'm not sure what problem they're solving.

A Google search indicates that their gas is $0.05 cheaper than gas stations, so a cheaper product (saving less than $1 for most car fill-ups) combined with saving a few minutes of time is a slight benefit but nothing amazing. If it was in my area, I'd give it a try but I don't see this as some great service. Maybe when it's cold it would be nice to not have to go get gas?

Most importantly, gas stations are an awesome opportunity to clean out my car while the pump is going. Those trash cans are always full because people use them to get rid of extra car trash. Will BoostFuel take away my trash?
Said that too about grocery delivery.  I want to be able to pick my own stuff at the grocery store..but I guess nowadays there are many who are just too darn busy to do this, so companies like Shipt are taking off.

At this point any product or service that allows Americans to NOT do something has strong potential.

We don't pay for deliveries, but the free grocery pickup some places have is a real time saver.  Those, we use.

Another one I'd like is where I'm out of town in an unfamiliar city.  It'd be cool to just hit the app when I wake up the morning of our departure and get a fill-up while we check out of the hotel.  That way we hit the ground running without having to worry about finding my way around the concrete jungle.

Great idea and I could see myself using it from time to time.  There have been plenty of moments where I'm running around crazy and realize we're getting low - it'd be nice to have this service stop by while I'm at soccer practice or something to fill me up.
I mean, that sounds awesome, but that's not what this service is.  They don't bring gas to wherever you are, it sounds like they have a contract with your employer so they can come to your workplace and fill a bunch of cars all at once.  Without that part I doubt the economics make any sense.

Their investment may be lower than a gas station per truck in that each truck probably costs 150k vs. land and a station. Of course, the land and station depreciate longer than a truck but the government's frequent bonus depreciation on assets like trucks could make for some nice years if they are expensable. Direct wages of these trucks are much higher than a gas station, assuming both have 1 employee to move the same amount of fuel (Hazmat tanker driver vs counter help). But these trucks may be more efficient and offset that. I think the real profits here are in the fees they charge the companies that offer this as a benefit to their employees. The money isn't in the fuel.

I used to buy this service for my diesel truck fleet.  We did save a buck or two and the drivers loved having their trucks already filled.

No reason that can't work for cars.   Heck could that be an employer perk?   Say they will fill up your car, you pay the gas cost per gallon, but the employer pays the delivery fee.   Yeah, I see this concept working

Not that interesting for me personally.

Now, if they could refuel while I'm driving that would be awesome!

I knew you had to be in trucking.

Wet hosing works for truck fleets because they can come and deliver a lot of fuel. 50 and 100 gallon tanks. DEF was a nice bonus for this industry due to the higher margins as fuel margins are razor thin.

It is also not as common to need the keys in order to fuel the truck. Thats an added hassle.

Fleet owners will actually even pay a slight premium on the fuel because it means they save labor and hours of service by not having their guys stop for fuel. And get coffee. And a danish. And say hi to the other 12 truck drivers doing the same thing.

People are stupid when it comes to gas in their cars. They drive two miles out of their way and wait in line because gas is ten cents cheaper at one station. Congrats, you saved 1.20. You used .25 gallons of gas and cost yourself 20 minutes.

So the odds of collecting a premium are nil.

There is a reason quickfuel doesnt offer this service.

It sounds great but will likely just need to keep raising funds via offerings since fuel is about the worst margin product there is.

Everything you said is spot on for the most part.  We did get a slight discount however, because, of course, we were now locked into the company and bought ALL our fuel from them..with very small exceptions.

As far as people being stupid, yep..and thats one reason why this just might work.  Especially if tied to an employer like I mentioned.  Some parking lots hold 300-400 cars....at 10 gallons per car, 4000 gallons.   At 6.3 pounds per gallon, that could be easily trucked to a local parking lot.  Charge standard rates for the fuel, plus a delivery fee(which the employer might pay) and boom....
