Brady Owners any concerns about him sitting during playoffs (1 Viewer)

Any other Brady owners here concerned that he will sit out much of the FF playoffs given how well they are playing?

I'm sure worried (and in part hope they lose one or two games)

Even if you knew he'd be sitting in Weeks 16 and 17, what would you do differently? Would you trade him? I'm trying to understand the logic of the question.

Brady will not rest until they've assured themselves home field advantage during the playoffs...period. If that goes to game 15-16 to guarantee it...they'll do it. Peyton and company will be doing the same thing.

The logic is as Brady owners you should be preparing contingency plans for when Brady sits and he will sit..... Bellichek has a history of sitting his starters when nothing is on the line - look at preseason and season games. Last year week 17 when the game didn't matter as the Pats playoff spot was lock in he sat everyone....

Brady will play until the end.

If they beat Indy this weekend, they will have a very good shot at going 16-0, and you know that they will go for it, so Brady will play as much as possible in weeks 16 and 17.

If they lose to Indy this weekend, they will still have a shot at home field, since the Colts would still be likely to stumble and lose a game at some point, so home field could be a possibility all the way up until the last game.

Don't sweat it.

A team that's bringing Brady back into games for a 6th TD pass and "running up the score" as some assert, isn't going to sit Brady IMHO. I think it's clear the Pats don't just want to have home field, they want to be viewed as historically dominant and that means pushing toward 15, 16 wins and setting points scored and point differential marks. Brady will also likely be pushing for the all-time passing marks; another reason Belichick will let him play out the string.

the same as with inuruies, i think there is a chance for most players to sit a game or two at the end of the season. it seems like week 17 is by far the worst and is obviously why most fantasy leagues are over before then. i actually think that brady has a better chance than most to not sit out. there is a good chance that home-field advantage wont be decided until week 16 or 17, and that is very important to teams. also, brady and the pats seem to be going out of their way to make a statement or send a message this year so it seems like there is a good chance that they will keep doing so throughout the regular season. i know there is the risk of injuries by brady playing when they have nothing to play for and teams do like resting their players and letting them get healthier for the playoffs but if anyone is going to keep playing anyway it seems like it would be brady this year.

i just realized that playoff teams are probably more likely to sit their star players down the stretch once their playoff spot is secured and they can't get a higher seed, but what can we do about that for our fantasy purposes? in general, that usually means that the players on good teams had better seasons in the first place.

Brady wasn't brought back into a game to throw a 6th TD pass or to run up the score. Brady was brought back in the game because Matt Cassel was throwing INT's and NE was only up 21 points. 21 points in the NFL is a good lead, but not comfortable enough to have Matt Cassel throwing picks. 1-2 INT's could easily turn that game into only a 10 point lead. Anyway, NE is a pass first, pass second and pass third team. If they score TD's then so be it. I don't think it's purposely "running up the score". And if it is running up the score so what! This is the NFL not the pee wee league where we have to worry about 5 and 6 year olds feelings!

Given how NE has piled on the points late in games, what's to think they'd stop piling on points at the end of the season.

Depends. If the Pats lose a game, like maybe this weekend, then Brady owners had better be worried. If and when the unbeaten record goes away, so does Brady playing in meaningless games. I they stay undefeated, then BB's ego keeps him playing.

Brady has started and played significantly in meaningless week 17 games before under BB.

I'm not worried about it, but I won't be upset if INDI wins this weekend (which I don't hink will happen, I think NE wins by double digits), putting the Pats two games out of Home Field.

between now and then I have to win MVP (entry fee returned) and get to the playoffs. Then I'll start worrying about Brady being seated.

If there undefeated I think he starts.

They lose between now and then -- he'll sit. But I would think it would be week 17 and only week 17. They will get a bye, and BB won't let Brady go three weeks without playing a real game.

:goodposting: If they lose this game, then they probably won't sit. If they lose, then they are effectively 2 games back of Indy, so they have to win out to get home field. The best scenario for Brady is that they lose this weekend and then Indy loses a game and they are both 15-1 going into Week 17. Then Brady plays Week 17 (unless the Colts have an early game and win and the Pats have a late game).

:goodposting: Again, if the Pats lose, they are 1 game ahead of all the 2 loss teams and potentially behind the Colts. That means they have to win to try and get homefield. Do people understand that Indy is still undefeated?

I believe that everyone is assuming that they are in the playoffs, have locked down home field advantage, etc.

Obviously if they are behind the Colts or only 1 game up on anyone he'll start regardless.

Yes, I realize the Colts are undefeated (until Sunday :goodposting:

As for Brady taking a cheap shot, let me know when someone gets close enough to him please

Porter won't take a shot. He likes the money. He's been in enough trouble with the league. He's not going to put his livelihood on the line to bust Brady's knee cap, especially since by then the Dolphins will be 0-14

And I'll ask again, how does he get close enough? You don't think DL right now aren't wanting to get licks on Brady. They can't. The o-line is playing ridiculous. The only way Porter gets him is if he hits him with a lead pipe as he's coming off the ice ... I mean field (I know, bad Nancy Kerrigan reference)

Phew, I was getting worried when you were the second person to mention them losing (and the first guy said this weekend, which made no sense since then the Colts are in the home field driver's set) and Brady sitting because of it. The best thing for FF owners of NE Players is for the Colts to beat them. I have no Colts, so I would be more than happy with a 35-34 loss to the Colts.
