Braylon Edwards going forward (1 Viewer)

Although we just have a 4 game sample to work with, I am nonetheless stunned by the amazing drop-off in production from Braylon Edwards. I understand a number of factors contribute to this: Anderson's tentative play, the slight regression in offensive line performance, the strength of schedule, and Braylon's continuing difficulty in actually catching anywhere in the neighborhood of half the balls thrown his way.

Although I won't share specifics on membership-only material, I would make mention that DD still has him ranked fairly high in the Top 250 going forward.

From where I sit, the situation in Cleveland is a  . The schedule doesn't appear to get any easier either. Yet, bye weeks sometimes contribute a great deal toward a team re-difining it's identity.

What are the thoughts of the FBGs?

one of the biggest drop offs in a single season, without an injury being involved, that I can ever recall. He's likely staying on my bench until I see a few good games from him. I would THINK he could only go up at this point...

The schedule is so tough, it may never turn around. I see Cle trying to run more with Anderson playing bad, and if they get that going it could open up the passing game. Seems like they've been trying to do just the opposite without any luck.

FWIW, I just traded away Edwards, so I don't have much confidence in him myself. Not sure Quinn could change that too much either if he gets the nod.

I just traded away McFadden for Braylon. So evidently people are starting to bail on the guy. Yeah he has a tough schedule and the Browns look like a train wreck right now, but they have too many weapons not to turn it around to some degree. Braylon is still the #1 and he did put up 16 TD's last year so hopefully it is just a matter of time.

I have confidence he can post decent #'s from here on out. Just traded Bush and Chambers for ADP and Edwards, so here's hoping that he can right the ship!

I had been offered B. Edwards for Felix Jones straight up in a 3 player/keep league. With AP, Gore and Slaton in the fold, FJones has been languishing on my bench. Since I can't keep all three, I may just pull the trigger. Especially since I think TO (my only legit WR keeper) is poised for a meltdown if the Boys lose again, especially come playoff time.

Only thing keeping me from doing this is value. Edwards lacks it. Bigtime.

Does anyone think he's a top 15 play at WR this week against the Giants?
The Giants secondary is much improved over the last season. Match that with the push they're getting up front, and the dropoff from Kellen Winslow cutting in, and I don't think you see top 15 numbers from BE this week. JMO.

I traded Burress to get Edwards in dynasty a couple weeks ago, so obviously I still think he's got the upside. Pretty disappointing so far though.

Terrible schedule this year. Not a big fan of the Browns turning things around. I really like Edwards, but just can't be high on him this year with that schedule and that disfunction on the team.

I'm distressed for the lack of a better word right now. Curtis is available on the wire. Long term in PPR can anyone guess as to who should be the better long term play?

Edwards is not that far removed from a monster year. It is awfully hard to just cut bait on him at this point. He can't get much worse than he has performed. I'm starting him this week over the likes of Cotchery and Driver.

Hopefully the Giants will play down to their competition like they did against the Browns.

What is the spread on this game? I love the Browns

I'm not dropping him, but I'm starting Bobby Engram and Devin Hester over him this week until he proves he can play well. PPR and return in my league btw.

I avoided him in all 15 of my leagues. I am leery of paying top dollar for possible anomalous performances.

He may do well but I am glad I am not depending on him.

I have no plans to trade for him unless someone makes a sweet offer.

I am guessing there are 15-20 WR I would rather have, than him, from here on out

JMO though

Agreed... fwiw. I offered Santonio Holmes for Edwards this week; offer was rejected, but I'm not willing to give more than that.

The top 3 WR that I targeted in every league were Braylon, Colston, and Holt. Ugh.

Braylon should improve going forward. But the Browns have reverted back to a sucky team and they have a tough schedule. And you just know Quinn is going to get some PT at some point, and I'm not sure if that's good or bad for Braylon. I guess it can't be any worse than it is now.

Braylon has cut my heart out this year.

I'm now faltering on whether to start him over Cotchery or Lance Moore. I'll probably go safe and leave him on the bench until he shows up.

i made a pitch to an owner where i offered fred taylor and anthony gonzalez for edwards and was turned down. no counter-offer, but i wasn't crying too much - that offer was about as much as i was willing to give.

I was offered Edwards for Holmes this week in a 4 player deal. Tempted to take it but the other players involved I'd be giving up too much. May end up just trading Holmes for Edwards...

Edwards is now 100% healthy the the first time all year. The foot and should injuries have hampered him early on.

Regardless of what has happened the first 5 games Edwards is a monster talent at WR and should post some good numbers from here on in.

link? or is this speculation?
Heard it on the NFl Network. Foot and shoulder both is good shape for first time this season. Will Edwards match last seasons totals? No way, but he should be a solid play from here on in.

Were the foot and shoulder injuries sending shots of pain to his hands when the ball was in mid-flight?

Did they say whether or not his dropitis is going away?

I just traded Favre for him in my PPR league since I have Romo as well at QB. Now Edwards is my #2 WR behind Marshall and I also have Lance Moore, V. Jackson, and Camarillo.

His schedule has been brutal so far but he can only get better, Stallworth being on the field will help some, and there are some great matchups later in the season for him (Broncos, Bills, Texans, Bengals Week 16).

He's the ultimate buy low guy right now an dif you don't HAVE to count on him as a WR1 it's a good move to get him.

I think he gets close to 100 yards this week and a score. Just a gut feeling.. The Browns have had a week off to get together, Anderson knows it's do or die time for him, and they should be playing from behind against the G-men this week.

They do not call me DaGuru for nuttin. :towelwave:

I'm down 22 points going in to tonight. I have Braylon, who has about 80 yards all season. He has Giants D - sacks/picks/galore against DA expected. No chance, right? Unbelievable. Braylon goes off (and almost had that other monster TD). Giants D scores -4, and I win by 10. The capper? The guy in 2nd in my division needed 1 more point from Jacobs to tie. 4th and 2, I was dreading a handoff. Eli incomplete - 2 game swing - life is GOOD.

Same situation here but I only had Braylon going with a 23 point deficit. After the int return for TD I went to get a drink thinking Eli had screwed me again. Figured they be running the ball now with Braylon not seeing another measley 18 yard rec that I needed.Came back in and checked the score.I won by .14 points tonight!Braylon, welcome back to your rightful position as my starting WR along with Marshall!

Amazing worrying in this thread. Just saw it for the first time. I have been disappointed by Edwards this year, but he started again like he has all year. Edwards is extremely talented and if Cleveland's OL plays the rest of the year as well as they did tonight, Edwards will be fine and yes, he should outshine Kevin Curtis.

Not looking good now with Romo down. I hope thinks work out for you.As for me I needed about 24 from Braylon tonight, and he comes through with 28 and change. Just traded for him this week.Thing is I almost took him out of my lineup when I saw Colston was not playing, and almost put Moore in.Thankfully my son talked me out of it. Now he wants a cut of my high point winnings for the week.
