I'm sure they'll want to see what kind of citizen he is before committing big $ his way.According to PFT, no.hmmm, he is a FA after this year, any word on if a contract extension was already in the works?

Depends what the picks are. Remember the Giants were keen on Edwards on the off-season and must presumably have been offering at least a second and possibly a first.Frankbot said:That's a decent return for the Browns.Sup_Yo said:Jay_Glazer jets have traded for braylon edwards. they sent two picks, wr chansi stuckey and linebacker jason trusnick to clevelandEDIT: Per Glazer's Twitter
ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Braylon Edwards has been traded to the Jets. FoxSports' Jay Glazer reports WR Chansi Stuckey, LB Jason Trusnick, and two draft picks are heading back to the Browns. The town wasn't big enough for Edwards and LeBron James, so the Jets struck while the iron was hot. Along with Edwards' recent incident with a Cleveland nightclub performer, it was also believed that most of the leaks involving complaints about coach Eric Mangini were courtesy of the disgruntled receiver. Edwards' value should rise in New York, but not by much. The Jets are a run-oriented offense, and Jerricho Cotchery has emerged as a viable No. 1. We're expecting WR3 production going forward. Nothing all offseason, then he hurt his ankle (speculation that may have been related to his contract status). His value wasn't exactly peaking after last year's debaclehmmm, he is a FA after this year, any word on if a contract extension was already in the works?
Selling high would have two years ago. This is a classic sell low, but perhaps not selling at its lowest.Good job by Cleveland selling high.
As opposed to holding him all season, getting 3 wins if lucky, and then watching him walk for nothing? If they got a bag of chips and an ounce of Rex Ryan sweat they probably made a good dealCleveland basically handed the Jets their star quarterback and #1 wide receiver. And we basically got nothing in return.
Good job by Cleveland selling high.
Braylon Edwards is a stud. Nothing else to say here.If you have a car that you know is going to break down in the next 300 miles, selling at all is a win. This is the classic win-win situation, especially if the Jets extend this guy and didn't give up an arm and a leg in trade.Selling high would have two years ago. Pretty sure BFred was being sarcastic. He's clever like that.Selling high would have two years ago. This is a classic sell low, but perhaps not selling at its lowest.Good job by Cleveland selling high.
For the short term, maybe. But in the long run, talent wins out. I'd look to bundle Massaquoi to improve another player if there's an owner looking to capitalize on this news. Let's also not forget that Mangini knows Stuckey from his tenure with the Jets and may feel that Anderson (or Quinn) needed a guy who can catch a lot of balls out of the slot. The whole Browns offense is turned over right now, with a new running back, Massaquoi effectively being promoted along with Anderson, and replacing Braylon with a totally different kind of receiver in Stuckey, so really anybody could emerge.RUSF18 said:I don't see how it's not Massaquoi. I would actually root for Braylon to become huge for the Jets, if it meant there was even a slight chance LeBron would decide he didn't want to go to New York. The town wasn't big enough for Edwards and LeBron James, so the Jets struck while the iron was hot.
Works for me.Per Schefter:Trade terms: Braylon Edwards for Chansi Stuckey, Jason Trusnik and two picks thought to be a 3rd and 5th-round pick.
I would hope not if I were a Jets fan, that would be terrible. As a Browns fan I'm hoping for at least one 3rd rounder.supposedly P. King reported that none of the picks are higher than a 3rd...
It's much easier when BE is getting doubled every snap. If that double team goes to Massaquoi...he becomes Massawho?RUSF18 said:I don't see how it's not Massaquoi. true....picks could be 5th rounders and it's a good deal for themBraylon is a FA after the season. Anything in return is good for the Browns. They were not going sign or tag him.According to PFT, no.hmmm, he is a FA after this year, any word on if a contract extension was already in the works?
Good deal for both sides IMO.Per Schefter:Trade terms: Braylon Edwards for Chansi Stuckey, Jason Trusnik and two picks thought to be a 3rd and 5th-round pick.

I just hope it's not a 1st or 2nd.Otherwise, I guess they feel a great need for another target for Sanchez.Depending on the draft picks it sounds like the Jets paid a hefty price for a WR who is a FA after this year.
Rember that Borwns OC Brian Daboll was the QB coach under Shottenheimer in NY last season. They playbooks are likely similiar.Q-Bert said:Short term/redraft probably a hold. Depends how quickly he gets integrated in the offense. Not exactly an easy thing to do mid season. you've got the recent examples of Roy in Dallas last year and McCardell in San Diego a few years back.runner06 said:Adding to those questions, how does this effect Braylon Edwards fantasy wise, both short term (redraft) and long term (dynasty)?renesauz said:![]()
What will this mean for Cotchery? How far up does this bump Massaquoi? My intial impressions are Very little for Cotch, and a ton for Mass.
Ya saw that after I posted. I'll take it. Looks good for both teams. Maybe the Browns finally start cashing in on traded picks. Wishful thinking, I know....supposedly a 3rd and 5th.I would hope not if I were a Jets fan, that would be terrible. As a Browns fan I'm hoping for at least one 3rd rounder.supposedly P. Hard to go down from that week 4 performance.THis is a great trade....for internet chatter. Edwards drops more than TO, and will cave under the spotlight that is the NYC fans/media. I think the Jets overpaid, Edwards has the whole fighting issue going on. If I had Edwards today, I'd be selling him to some sucker who would overpay me for him, there will be sucka ducks out there in every league. Edwards #s stay the same IMO, maybe go down a bit.
You think you could actually get something for Edwards in a trade right now?I'd love to hear what people think he is worth.THis is a great trade....for internet chatter. I'm really liking this for Braylon. He'll be a very good #2 with the D having to worry about Cotchery and Keller, not to mention a better run game and potential franchise QB. It's not like he catches a lot of balls anyway, but now he should go back to scoring TDs.Will you still feel that way if the Jets don't/can't resign him next year?Good deal for both sides IMO.Per Schefter:Trade terms: Braylon Edwards for Chansi Stuckey, Jason Trusnik and two picks thought to be a 3rd and 5th-round pick.

One of my offers that was rejected earlier this week that I remember was Antonio Bryant and Kirk Morrison for Braylon (Dynasty IDP).You think you could actually get something for Edwards in a trade right now?I'd love to hear what people think he is worth.THis is a great trade....for internet chatter. call me a duck, but in a dynasty league I'd buy. On board here.Good deal by the Browns. And solid risk by the Jets.
Edwards obviously has a ton of character issues, and his latest incident was the final straw. To get 2 draft picks, and a couple of young players, it is a great move for the Browns. As for the Jets, they get a potentially great receiver, albeit one who drops a lot of passes.
Who offered the Browns that?So if Cleveland could have traded Edwards in the offseason for a 2nd or maybe a 1st, how is it a good deal now for them to get a couple of low picks and a couple of scrubs?
My Titans.I am in the camp that thinks Edwards finds new life in New York. The guy has immense skills, but had become worthless as he was doubled every game. I think this will open up the Jets attack a lot as the season moves forward. Although Mass now becomes the #1 in Cleveland, it feels like a bad situation for him in my opinion. This Cleveland team looks like it's going to be a mess the rest of the year. Mass, Stuckey, Robiskie and Cribbs? What defense is going to fear this unit?
