Breaking Bad on AMC (4 Viewers)

After this is all over, I'd really like someone to ask Gilligan where this story would have gone had he killed off Jesse in season 1 as initially planned. Totally different show.

I still don't find the scenes overly interesting where Jesse is mopey and such. I get that it is key to his character, but they just aren't that interesting to watch, IMO. I wasn't overly crazy about most of the scenes he was in tonight, the one with Walt definitely being the exception. Jesse is simply way more interesting when he is going full speed and running his mouth, as opposed to being detached and mopey.
I only watched the first two episodes of this season (will watch the 3rd tonight) but this right here holds the show back in a big way for me. I find myself reaching for my phone when his scenes come on...same with Skylar for tha past 3 years...
You people have ADHD or something?

Not every scene can be all out high intensity or crap blowing up.

Those scenes with Sklylar/Jesse while not amazing are part of the bigger picture being painted here.

Like when Bob Ross starts painting some straight line and talking about happy trees.

I'm like WTF its a black line, then when he is done with a majestic mountain view with beautiful details, I look back and say, wow that straight line was a part of this beautiful shiit.
Maybe thats the drawback to watching them on DVD's versus every week. Maybe if I had 7 days to forget about it it would make it better?

Look, I love the show and I'm not trying to take away from it's greatness lol. You cant say anything bad about this show lol
I get some of those scenes not being too interesting, but I don't understand how that "holds the show back in a big way."

Those scenes are somewhat necessary to tell a great story.

Some shows try to do it and do it poorly.

It's monotonous. The ups and downs with him every season are just beat to death at this point IMO. Jesse loves life--has fun--someone dies--he doesnt care--acts nuts---walt talks him down--hes happy again rinse and repeat every season. I can't imagine this still entertains people after all thsi time. The second I saw the depressed look from him I reached for my phone...

Dunno if there'd be any way to tell. Not everything had been mapped out from S1, right? I was under the impression that there was a very loose direction to where things were going, but that the ending hadn't been decided until this season was written.

This was my understanding as well. It's also been a collaborative effort from a group of writers - with Gilligan's oversight. I imagine Gilligan had an idea of where he may take it without Jesse, but I doubt it was clear and I doubt Jesse staying around changed things that much.

Two words: ricin pancake syrup.
One of these things is not like the others,

One of these things just doesn't belong,

Can you tell which thing is not like the others

By the time I finish my song?

Did you guess which thing was not like the others?

Did you guess which thing just doesn't belong?

If you guessed this one is not like the others,

Then you're absolutely...right!

So in the rewatch, I noticed there was honey on the table of the Albuquerque Mexican restaurant. The only mex restaurant I can recall seeing honey was one that I went to when on a business trip to...Albuquerque. Score more points for realism.

Pretty much the norm around here.

I wondered how widespread it is. Typically when traveling around the country I don't eat Mexican and its definitely not a staple of middle Tennessee mex restaurants

Why watch the damned show if you're going to ignore everything unless there's a super awesome explosion? The whole damned show is monotonous. Walt's ego gets him in over his head. His smarts get him out. Rinse. Repeat. Yet here we are, still entertained. Maybe because we actually watch the characters instead of looking at lolcats.

So my older brother just started watching BB the other day. I think he said he's into Season 2 now.

He tells me "You know who is really good on the show acting-wise? Whoever plays Walt Jr. You'd think he had CP."

:lmao:

The character himself annoys a lot of people, but I think Mitte does a pretty good job.

Other than Cranston (who I've liked in everything I've seen him in, but had no idea he had THIS in him), Banks, and Esposito (both pro's pros), I don't think I recall ever seeing any of these actors before Breaking Bad. I'm guessing several are going to springboard into even more lucrative careers from here on out. Cranston, of course - but Norris is already on is way in the (pretty bad, though it's not his fault) Under The Dome, and Esposito and Banks (sounds like the Mariners' set up pitchers) will always have work. I guess Aaron Paul has the biggest upside; it'll be fun to see what he does with it. I hope Gunn & Brandt also get their chances, as I think both have been really, really good.

eta: just remembered, I saw Gunn in a Seinfeld episode.

Gunn was also Seth Bullock's wife in Deadwood for seasons 2 and 3.

Tuco's been in a number of movies. Most notable is probably The Rock, but he's been in a bunch that I've seen.

I do think Walt takes the ricin, but only to "force" him to do what he came back to town for. So if he's going on a suicidal mission, he takes it so he has no way out.

"No half-measures."

Interesting speculation based upon remaining episode titles.
I know its just speculation, but no way I'm clicking on that.
:goodposting:
LOL...that was my first thought...scrolled right past that link
You think the producers of the show are really going to let the secret ending (which all crew have signed ironclad non-disclosure forms among all of their trade secret maneuvers) of one of the best shows ever on television be ruined by IMDb-ing the titles of the remaining episodes or the taglines on the DTV guide?

Hank was in Total Recall. He's been around for awhile.

Do you suppose one of the senior "car wash professionals" will step up to run things now?

Will the air fresheners get rearranged again?

I agree with you. I love the "I'm the one who knocks" speech for I think different reasons than others. I love it because Walt is NOT the one who knocks, he's kind of a bungling monkey who's lucked into much of his success. I am looking forward to see the fall of someone who's gotten a little too big for his britches with an ego the size of Texas...
Are you kidding? Walt is the one who knocks. Think about how he got rid of Tuco, Gus Fring, Gayle (he organised the hit that started that conversation), the 10 witnesses in 2 minutes, Mike etc. The amount of planning that went into those situations (except maybe Mike, but he still got the best of a seasoned pro) is impressive and the results perfect (from his POV).

Walt is the wolf in sheep's clothing so good he's still fooling people.

I also think Walt is in way over his head. He did luck into a lot of his success. He doesn't even have henchmen for Pete's sake. He isn't like Fring or the Mexicans. He isn't like Todd's uncle either. He's got a couple things going for him. He's smart and thinks well on his feet. He's lucky. And he's got no soul. He's absolutely without remorse which is kind of useful in the meth/killmurdering game.
