Breaking Bad on AMC (1 Viewer)

why does everyone keep thinking someone would take Ricin to kill themselves? it's not a pleasant way to go.
Why does everyone keep thinking that they have to come up with how this all ends?

It's an amazing display of people jockeying for that 'I told you so' moment.

Sit back, relax, tune in the next couple of weeks and find out when it happens.
The plane that crashed at the end of Season Whatever-Season-That-Was actually was loaded with chemical weapons that have been slowly killing the townspeople. Every resident of the town dies in the final episode except for Walt. The chemicals have healed his cancer and he moves to New Hampshire. He only comes back because the chemicals also mutated all of the animals in the local zoo and have taken over the city.
yep. read about this same thing on a spoiler website. looks legit.

bit of a 12 Monkeys ending.

Not that I think he will, but if he did, it would make sense if he really just didn't want anyone to know he committed suicide.

If Walt wanted to kill himself, I doubt he'd want anyone to know and I think he'd accept the terrible death to keep that from happening.

Four episodes left...In a sense there isn't a lot of ground to cover. It's just the ultimate confrontation between Jesse and Walt and Hank and Walt. The chips are on the table now between all parties.

One thing I can see is that if only 1 or 2 people die, a lot of people are going to be disappointed! I feel like everyone in this thread, and everyone I talk to is waiting for a bunch of death to happen. I don't know that BB is necessarily going to go the route of Game of Thrones.

I do see a couple deaths happening, that's inevitable. Who knows, maybe there will be a flurry of people dying at the end, but I don't personally think so.

Ultimately, I guess that depends on what message the writers are going to send. Walt has been on this long journey of "leaving his family taken care of". Will they ultimately reward the family and let them have money and a future without Walt? Or will his sins catch up to him and end up devouring his family as well, which makes his descent a mistake all the way around.

I don't understand why people are worried about this show running out of time. They could almost wrap things up in one episode at this point. We don't really need to know what happens next with Lydia, Saul, etc. Those characters are sort of irrelevant now.

Walt's life would have been a lot easier had he been willing to sacrifice Jesse.
At which point? How long would Gus have kept him around after Gale mastered the cook?
Only reason Gus wanted Walt gone was because Walt ran over two of his dealers for Jesse
Gus never considered Walt a "professional." He only brought him in to learn his methods and take his market position.

Is this just an assumption? Because they never mentioned this at any time. So Gale was a "professional" but Walt wasn't?

Well, we need to catch up to the flash-forwards and then show what happens after them. So we need to see the following stuff happen (not necessarily in this order):

1) Walt needs to get out of town (and there needs to be an explanation/precipitating event that causes him to get out)

2) Walt needs to get a new identity

3) Walt needs to have his 52nd birthday at the diner and get the gun

4) Walt needs to decide that he's going back to New Mexico, and it needs to be explained why

5) The house needs to gets trashed by someone

6) Walt needs to go back to the house to get the ricin

7) Then Walt needs to do whatever it is he's planning to do with the ricin and the gun

And those things don't necessarily wrap up the storylines for the other major characters. I still think there's four episodes worth of stuff that needs to happen.

If Jesse wants to destroy all that Walt holds dear, he can go after Skyler, Walt Jr., and Holly. Killing them would crush Walt. That would be revenge for what Walt did to Jane and Brock. It would also make Walt's life pointless since, after all, Walt started the whole meth thing to get enough money to make sure his family was taken care of when the cancer took him. Then maybe we end with Walt taking the ricin to complete the loop.
Does Jesse know what Walt did (didn't do) to Jane?

I haven't read any spoilers or anything even close like the episode titles posting, but I have some theories based on the foreshadowing in last week's episode. I'm going to enclose my theory in spoiler tags just in case I am right.

So, last week's episode ends with Walt calling Todd presumably to arrange a hit on Jesse using the Aryan crew. The critical fact that Walt does not know at this time is that Jesse is currently staying at Hank and Marie's house. I have a feeling that Walt's lack of awareness of the fact that Jesse is staying at Hank and Marie's house is ultimately going to result in disastrous consequences when Walt orders the hit on Jesse -- specifically the death of one or more of Walt's own family members. We know that the Aryan crew is ruthless, as shown by how they slaughtered all of Declan's crew and the 10 prison inmates. If the Aryans figure out where Jesse is staying, they could storm Hank's house and end up killing members of Walt's family in a botched hit attempt on Jesse. Walt's family dying as an unintended consequnce of his own arranged hit would be the ultimate karmic retribution for all of the murder and mayhem that Walt has caused over the course of the series. This result is also foreshadowed by the words of Marie's therapist at her recent counseling session who said, "There's no problem, no matter how difficult, or seemingly unsolvable, that violence won't make worse." Now, who dies?

I think Marie dies in the botched hit. When she returns to her house from the therapist's office, she walks into the house to see two purple suitcases illuminated by bright light and Hank urging her to get out of the house for a few days. However, Marie, who is standing in the shadows in stark contrast to the bright illuminated purple suitcases and wearing all black, declines this option and decides to stay at the house to assist Hank in bringing down Walt. The bright purple suitcases represented Marie's way out of this mess, but instead she chose to stay behind to stand by Hank's side as he relentlessly pursues Walt while ignoring Walt's thinly veiled threats. I think that choice will ultimately result in her death, which will only further send Hank over the edge possibly causing him to indisputably break bad himself.

I also think Walter Jr. may die in the botched hit attempt. Perhaps, Walt Jr. decides to swing by Uncle Hank and Aunt Marie's house after school or perhaps he is "lured" by Marie because she believes her house is a safe place. After all of Marie's discussion about how Walt's home is not a safe place for the kids, it would be truly ironic if Walt Jr. were to be murdered at Hank and Marie's home in the Aryan's botched hit attempt ordered by Walt himself.

Skylar could also potentially die in a botched hit attempt. Perhaps she swings by Hank and Marie's to try to talk them down -- or perhaps to retrieve her children -- and she is present when the Aryans try to execute the hit. Again, it would be karmic retribution for Skylar to be an unintended casualty of the Aryan hit ordered by Walt, which she herself encouraged.

Although I don't think Jesse will die in the hit attempt, there are definite signs that Jesse will die. Most notably, when Jesse is discussing the wire plan with Hank and Gomez, he is sitting behind two coffee mugs -- one of which says "DEA" and the other of which is turned sideways such that the handle of the mug forms the letter "D." I believe that this subtle foreshadowing was clearly intentional -- as the arrangement of the two mugs next to each other is too perfect to be a coincidence -- and signals that Jesse will die at some point.

These events also fall in line with the foreshadowing that we have seen in the flash forwards -- Walt purchasing an M-60 and retrieving the ricin. He will use the M-60 against the Aryans to get retribution for them killing Walt Jr. and/or other family members.

I think what makes this show great is all of the discussion of the theories and whatnot. As long as people are being respectable and not being jerks about it....let's continue to discuss. Hell, that's what internet message boards are for.

I don't think so. As we all know, there is nothing more dangerous and traumatizing for the public to see on TV than naked people.

I think most of this is very good speculation, but I still don't think Jesse will die. Once again in Rabid Dog, we have Jesse reminding Hank and Gomez that he's the only guy who can cook product that is even close to as good as Walt's. Comments from GIligan and Cranston have suggested that Walt returns to ABQ to "protect someone." I still think it's Jesse.

But I do really like the Marie speculation, which works really well thematically. These episodes have gone to great length to show Hank becoming Walt's shadow or mirror. The mistakes that Hank is making (not going to the DEA from the beginning) are motivated, it seems, from the same place that have motivated Walt. A misplaced sense of pride. A need to prove himself the better man. I've leaned toward the theory that Hank would recognize this and eventually take the case up the ladder and have himself taken off the case, but the evidence seems to support your conclusion a bit better.

And I imagine that if Skyler's sister is killed, that would effectively cause Walt to "lose" his family. I think Skyler would take the kids and go. Possibly after confessing.

I haven't read any spoilers or anything even close like the episode titles posting, but I have some theories based on the foreshadowing in last week's episode. I'm going to enclose my theory in spoiler tags just in case I am right.

I agree with your analysis. I think it is possible that my speculation on Jesse could be the result of intentional misdirection by the writers or simply foreshadowing of the fact that Walt was going to try to kill Jesse. I think your speculation about Skylar is a distinct possibility. It would still serve the same thematic goal of Walt "losing" his family as a result of the meth empire that was originally intended to provide for them.

Did I fall asleep at some point during the last few episodes? When did Gomez come into the picture in these new episodes? He seemed clueless at the office, but now he's at Hank's house and knows what all is going on? Did I miss something, or was this an implied progression of events?

He seemed a little surprised to see Jesse, so I'm guessing Hank called him and told him to come over. After jesse spilled the beans and they were outside, Hank asked him "do you believe me?" and jhe replied "yes."

they skipped over any scenes of Hank bringing him in. He was just there without any explanation given.

OK, good. I was scared I had missed something there. Thanks

At this point, do we know whether Hank has told anyone at the DEA outside of Gomez? Was the wire on Jesse an official DEA operation or were Hank and Gomez doing it alone?

A potential way that Walt Jr. and/or Holly could end up at Hank and Marie's house is that Hank presents Jesse's confession to the DEA, which results in the DEA getting an arrest/search warrant and storming Walt's house. Marie, knowing this will happen through Hank, convinces Walt Jr. to come over to their house, so that he is not present to witness the DEA raid -- as had been previously discussed during the dinner conversation between Walt and Hank. That could potentially place both Marie and Walt Jr. at the house with Jesse when the Aryan hit takes place as the DEA raid is underway.

When they went to the flashback to show what happened to Jesse when he broke into Walt's house, my wife asked "Is he doing it again?"

Based on the title of episode 6, I can absolutely see it happening

at the same time. DEA raid at his house while family is getting killed at Hank's. Would be BRUTAL BRUTAL television...

Four episodes left...In a sense there isn't a lot of ground to cover. It's just the ultimate confrontation between Jesse and Walt and Hank and Walt. The chips are on the table now between all parties.
:goodposting:

I don't understand why people are worried about this show running out of time. They could almost wrap things up in one episode at this point. We don't really need to know what happens next with Lydia, Saul, etc. Those characters are sort of irrelevant now.
I think Lydia dies this next episode

Why did Walt tell the locksmith the old keys need to work? I didn't get that either.
lol
I must be missing something because I didn't understand it either. So what's the deal with the old keys?
Walt did not want Skylar to know that Jesse had broken into their home. If the locksmith installed new locks, then she would have known that someone had broken in and poured gasoline in their living room.

I came here to say this. That was my interpretation as well.

That makes no sense at all. Pretty sure it was because he knew Hank had copies of the house keys and would coming looking for more poetry books.

Well, a simple way to resolve this question would have been to, you know, actually READ THE THREAD YOU'RE POSTING IN RIGHT NOW.

When Gummi used the word "kid" to describe Jessie Hank corrected him. Is that because they're talking about another kid? Todd? Breck? The kid on the 3-wheeler that Todd shot?

how can someone understand why Walt made up a story about a gas pump malfunction, but still not know why he didn't want to change the locks/keys? how is that even possible?
