Breaking Bad on AMC (3 Viewers)

Season 4 disc 1 arrived today. :pickle:
Season 4 was OK. Had its moments.
It's a testament to the show that season 4 is the worst one and still is spectacular.
I've seen every episode but I'm amazed how you guys can keep one season straight from another. The whole series is one big blur to me at this point. The Sopranos and The Wire are the only shows where I can tell you exactly what happened in each season, but that's only because I own the DVDs.

Is there a more "intense" show in the history of television? Where your heart rate is up over 100 for an entire hour long?

I literally thought about fast forwarding through some of it and reading a recap of that weeks show because I couldn't handle the tension. Maybe I'm just a baby, but this is ridiculous intense from episode one through season 2 without a minute to catch your breath.
You have no idea how much more intense it gets.
 yup
You should wear your HR monitor while watching upcoming S5.

Really? I thought it was supposed to pick up season 4? 3 is the best so far imo. Im not super high on the show though as an all-time great.
I think 1,2,4 are all about equal and 3 is the worst. 1 and 2 are good all the way through. 4 matches them only because the last few episodes of the season are so great.3 is still good, obviously, but overall it's falls flatter more often than the others.

Interesting. I thought 3 was the best season because that is when it goes from Walt and Jesse doing some crime to most everyone Walt knows suddenly being in mortal danger.

I thought 2 was the funniest by far. And it set things up nicely for where we are now.

4 is fantastic but the ending left me a little "meh". It seemed the last two episodes added in too much trickery and cerebral stuff when most of the show has been about how much a smart guy like Walt can only think himself out of jams for a while before they ultimately blow up.

I don't like 3 as much because they are all settled into their thing with Gus and most of it is stuff with the lab, Gale, etc. Plus, "Fly" is by far the worst episode of the series.Seasons 1 and 2 you aren't sure how far they'll be able to go with everything. Season 4, the relationship with Gus is falling apart. Just more possibilities with the storyline, makes it more interesting.

I hope Season 5 brings a little more light on the Gretchen-Elliot-Walt dynamic. Did Walt leave Gretchen for Skylar? Was it his pride refusing to marry a rich girl that would just add to her millions? Did Elliot really screw Walt? Can they be his last two targets for revenge before he dies?

Every season has been great but in terms of ranking:3421
I think I agree with this. Testament to how awesome this show is that there's nowhere near a consensus of which season was best. You ask fans of most shows to rank them, and usually two seasons will dominate with everything else falling in line. And very few people, if any, will consider the consensus best seasons to be the worst. With this show, although "worst" is a relative term, we've got some people who think 3 was the best and some think it was worst, and seems like the same for four too. Just about the worst moments of this show are better than 99% of everything else that's ever been done.

Just picking up this show after not watching since the beginning of season 2.

WTF is Bob Odenkirk doing as the Larry H Parker guy?!? Dude is awesome, but terribly cast in this show, to me. Way too campy.

 I'll give you the benefit of the doubt since you've only just seen him. One of the best characters on the show.

Better Call Saul

Just finished rewatching the Tuco arc. Wow, forgot how great of a character he was.

Uncle Tio! ding ding ding ding

They haven't explained everything but what's been implied is that Gretchen hooked up with Elliot while he was getting successful with the business and Walt moved out of the way.If Walt left Gretchen for Skylar I don't think Gretchen would have asked "is this about me?" when he refused to take the money.

It's all good man.... mmmm, no, it's not.

I'm disappointed to hear he sticks around... I'm glad he's got a good gig though. I'm sure Tim & Eric Awesome Show Great Job! doesn't pay too well.

But why was walt cut out of the business?

Don't you get the impression he took himself out? - Season 1 he's a sad sack loser who blew his opportunities in life - His whole attitude toward the business is solemn, not angry- Why would he even go to Elliot's party if he was cut out of the business?- Elliot didn't apologize to him at the party for cutting him out- After college he had a young kid (Walt Jr) with CP and probably didn't want to dedicate his life to a startup (not sure of the timing of the business success)

And Walt left Gretchen. If you go back to when he meets her for dinner after she learns that Walt claimed the money came from G&E, she states that she and Walt were on a trip. She came into the room and found him packing, after which he just left. I think Walt left her, not the other way around. The about me line may imply that he feels guilty about leaving her, thus is too stricken with guilt to accept help from her.

Just finished Season 3. Gotta stop watching this before bed. I figured even early in the season that Gale was insurance for Gus. I woulda been pissed if they portrayed Walt as dumb enough not to also figure it out.

Guess I'll wait for the Season 4 marathon now.

You're literally the only person I've ever known to express a negative opinion on the Saul character.

Back-to-back episodes coming up right now. 2-4am. They've been doing this every night.

Hank offed Tuco when they left off last night.

Not really surprising to me. I have pretty unique tastes and opinions. He just doesn't fit the show to me... although he's been less contrasting in subsequent episodes. Imagine David Cross being added to the cast of your favorite gritty crime drama playing the same whiny homo he always plays... just doesn't fit the show. On another note, I enjoyed having Kristen Ritter on the show until she O.D.'d... she's friggin hot to me. Is that Jack Tripper's daughter? Looks like he finally got in those short shorts of Janet. bowchickawowow!

Um...no. Odenkirk was awesome on Mr. Show. Awesome with Time and Eric. And this is a role he was born to play. You literally might be the only person on the planet who doesn't like Saul. And I'm fairly certain you'll end up changing your tune. I think you're getting in your own way here.

Youre right. Why take himself out though is the better question i guess. Im only 4 episodes into season 4 though.

My problem with the show is predictability. I feel like you see everything coming for the most part. How many times will Jesse be traumatized, go back on drugs, and #### something up? How many times will somebody make the son breakfast?

I've seen al the seasons live, so I'm a bit rusty on some back stories, but I think a high reason here is a love triangle. Also, Walt feels he should get all the credit(nothing new here) and for whatever reason the other two don't give him any.

I thought it was an ego thing with Walt?....I thought that was the first time we really saw Walt has having a high opinion and almost Alpha maleness to himself.

Right, but up to Season 4 episode 4, we do not have the full story IIRC
