Breaking Bad on AMC (2 Viewers)

As for Jesse's character I wouldn't be surprised if Gilligan was looking for someone who was a sort of Slim Shady type guy then develop his character through the years.
How surprised would you be to learn that the original plan was to
Yes but I've also read where Gilligan said that he knew how good the actor's were because they were on his prior TV show X-files. In this clip he also said he just didn't know how important the character was going to be. Seems logical, you keep and kill off characters depending on where the story goes.

I don't see the Aaron Paul love being too over the top. People just acknowledging that he has come a long way since the first season. it's fun to watch someone improve at their craft
About a dozen pages back I wondered how much of Paul's improvement was a direct result of being around Cranston.Cranston is so brilliant at underplaying Walt, at conveying a wide range of emotions with just a glare, a shoulder shrug, or a few mumbled words.

Paul was so ridiculously over-the-top that first season (he was like a bad parody of Eminem). His improvement has been his ability to convey so much internally with minimal dialogue or hyper gestures.

Much like Cranston.
I think the change is more with the character than with the actor. At the start of the series Jesse was trying to be a bad parody of Eminem. Since then he's been through a lot, and it has changed him. Paul has done a great job playing Jesse throughout those changes.
:goodposting: Nailed it. He's been solid throughout. It wasn't Paul that was over the top, it was Jesse. Paul didn't write his ridiculous myspace page or his answering machine message.

By the way, I googled the answering machine message and found a youtube clip. I take back what I said earlier- the guys complaining about Anna Gunn putting on so much weight thati it creates a continuity problem

Uhhhh she did have a kid.....pretty good reality that she blew up, she's really diving into her character.

ya I suppose so...keep in mind I was watching season 1 at the time, and she looked NOTHING like what she looks like now. Couldn't even tell it was the same person really.

:goodposting: When I saw her and Walt have the make-up sex a few episodes ago I was wondering how the bed withstood it.

:lmao:

Not sure which is worse.

Bagging on a handicapped kid for talking funny.

or

a 43 year old, 5'10 woman for putting on some pounds.

I, for one, was not bagging on her...I still think she's kinda hawt, she just looks totally different

Why wouldn't the cartel just kidnap Walt? Then they get the chemist. I'm guessing Gus has him watched.
That would funny if they kidnapped the wrong Walter White and nabbed Jr. instead. Pan to the poor kid getting tortured b/c he says he can't cook.
Some around here would enjoy that scene. :lmao:
Cartel guy: Don't try to pull that Keyser Soze ##### on me Walter White. I know you're not a retaard.Walt Jr: {Chewbacca roar}
OMG :lmao:

How can you not like Walk Jr with these quote gems:

“Walter, Jr.: How’s it feel to be old?

Walt: How’s it feel to be a smartass?

Walter, Jr.: Good.”

“This smells like band-aids.”

“Do I look like a skater?”

“Then why don’t you f—— die already?!”

“It’s not that hard, Mom. It says ‘crunch’ on the box.”

[To Skyler] “Why ya gotta be such a, a #####?!”

“Walter, Jr.: Can I be excused?

Skyer: To do your homework or to play video games?

Walter, Jr.: I can multi-task.”

Here's my theory of how the series will play out.

Walt finally "breaks bad" by killing Jesse. It always made me wonder why Walt does everything in his power to save Jesse. I think because in his mind he can justify what he's doing by making something out of Jesse. Circumstances will lead WW to a choice with him choosing Heisenberg over Jesse.

I think Hank's investigation will meet a dead end because imo the Chicken man does a mole in the DEA. Hank will end up joining forces with Walt to take down Gus/Cartel.

Show ends with Heisenberg as the new top dawg with Hank in the Mike role as his enforcer. Seeing first hand the corruption hidden in law enforcement, especially after his injury, will be the catalyst for Hank "breaking bad" and joining the rest of the family in the crime game.

Did they ever show what happened to Gus's brother (or mention him at all for that matter)?? Any chance his brother is Hanks old partner?

Just rewatched last week's episode.

Love the scene with Hank talking to his old partner and DEA. Just broke things down nicely.

My one gripe is how have the ambushes on the chicken-joint delivery trucks not come to light? They are headline making incidents.

Plus to be honest I would have preferred Hank tie the delivery trucks to Gus/meth then finding a fingerprint in Gale's apartment. A little bit more believable and cleaner all the way around.

Paul's scene in NA was awesome as well.

They're being cleaned up quickly.

That may be so. It is preposterous though.

Best fifteen minutes of the season so far. Walt being in charge of his life....Gus being bold to Tio and then showing the pressure in the elevator,.,Hank rediscovering his swagger.

What did the text say and whats the significance? How did walt know to look at his phone? Does this mean Jesse's house is bugged?
The text said meeting was cancelled because the boss was busy. Significance is that Walt may think Jesse was lying about not seeing Gus (which he was). Walt looked because the phone buzzed.

:lmao: Steven Bauer and Mark Margolis in drug-lord meeting set in the 1980s. Sweet casting. I half expected Mary Elizabeth Megatronica to show up.

ETA Mark Margolis (Tio Hector) played the assassin/bomber in Scarface. The one that was supposed to blow up the Bolivian journalist going to the U.N.

treinta metros!

Could Jesse tell that the message was opened earlier?

It was a msg regarding a meeting being cancelled. Walter caught jesse in a lie. Walt knows that Jesse has seen the chicken man.

I thought it might have meant Jessies house is bugged and Mike is on to Walt.So much in that episode. Whats the deal with Jessie paying for the girl? I guess we shall see later. Damn gus is tormenting hector.

That guy who banged Al Pacino's sister in scarface has had quite a bit of work done on his face. :jawdrop: and it did not look to bad.

he knows who Gus was in Chile....whatever that means. Any ideas?
 Could be anything but I'll take a guess that it might have something to do with the aforementioned Pinochet. Chile during the 70s and 80s was a police state. Thousands of people "disappeared" under Pinochet's rule. Maybe Gus was part of the DINA (National Intelligence Directorate)...Chile's secret police. Or I could have it backwards. Maybe he fled Chile to escape the above.ETA: Just saw PlasmaDog beat me to it

Still digesting that scene at the pool. Very well done. Really loved getting some background on Gus and seeing him as a younger, less confident 'businessman'. Great acting by Giancarlo

:shrug:Anyone get the impression that Gus and the young chemist may have been "involved"? NTTAWWT
I thought the exact same thing.
Definitely hinted at that. I'm going to say yes with Tio pissing in the pool and telling them they probably liked what they saw.
