Breaking Bad on AMC (8 Viewers)

Just finished season 4. First two seasons were entertaining but nothing special. But after the last three episodes of season 4, I can't remember being more impressed with the writing on a TV show. Question - what ever happened to Mike?
We left him in that makeshift hospital tent in Mexico after he got shot.
He is one of the best characters on the show, and I hope we haven't seen the last of him. Really thought he'd be heavily involved in the last episode.
He'll be back in a big way. Interesting to think how the last few episodes would have played out with Mike around guarding Gus. Mike and Hank are dying to share some screen time. That will be great when they do no matter how they end up playing it.

Yep. Looking forward to this. It will be a poor man's version of Deniro linking up with Pacino in Heat.

Had a dream last night about Season 5

Basically it went like this

-- Walt is worried/paranoid that people may try to get revenge on him for his action in S4

-- Saul hooks him up with some mob-type guys for a protection "service"

-- Hank, meanwhile is somewhat of a hero for ID'ing Fring. For good publicity for the DEA, he's doing some local talk shoss etc.

-- Hank talks walt into making an appearance with him. Hank wants to tout Walt's role in helping him etc.

-- Nosy TV reporter does some digging connections between Walt and his mob-type protectors

I just rediscovered this show. I watched the first season and missed the live air of season 2. I just bought seasons 2-4 and in a week I'm already half way though season 4. I want to stop short of calling this a great show, but it is very good.

Go ahead...you can call it great. It's great.

I'm always amazed and somewhat intrigued when I see these sorts of things. Amazed that someone would spend the time to do it and intrigued by what was driving them to do it in the first place. Regardless, I appreciate the results.

Breaking Bad POV Compilation
Just saw this and was going to post it. Pretty awesome.

prediction: last 2 episodes will be basically Walt & Hank vs. Jesse & Mike

.... OR, Jesse rolls on Walt to Hank, and its Jesse & Hank (the odd couple) vs. Walt & Mike

Damn I have two more shows to watch in Season 3 - then have to complete Season 4 in time for the premier. What a great show. What I find funny is how easy it is for guys to hate Skylar - while women find her to be a sympathetic character. God I hate that ingrate.

My prediction:
They're breaking the final episodes into two blocks. The end of the first block will have Walk eliminating Jesse. Not that Jesse's a bad guy, is looking to backstab Walt or is messing up. Hank has got a hard on for nailing Jesse....and there's just too many instances where Jesse's been public with Gus. Once Hank starts looking at the trail Gus left (which you have to assume he will).....Jesse will pop up in no time. The end of the series will be Hank nailing Walt.

The women I know that watch the show don't like her either.

This show is unreal. The GF and I have plowed through the first 3 seasons in about a week... can't turn it off. Hell we watched every episode of season 3 but the first two TODAY. Just ordered Season 4 on Amazon Instant Video because the DVDs don't seem to be available.

One more episode tonight.... "Box Cutter" S4E1

:goodposting: Wife and I finished all 4 seasons since Thanksgiving and that's only because we dragged out Season 1 over a couple weeks. Didn't want to catch up so quickly and then have to sit around waiting for Season 5...but by the time we finished S1 we couldn't wait to get the next episode on so we just ended up banging out the next three in short order. Best show ever.

Wow - bought and watched seasons 2-4 in about 9 days. This is a very good show. Can't really figure where they are going to go next in season 5.

I love this show more than anyone can ever love a show, but I am constantly surprised by these posts of people catching up that don't hate on season 3 just a little.

No show knocks it out of the park EVERY season. That's an extremely difficult thing to do.The Sopranos had blocks of subpar episodes here and there. The Wire had that ridiculous storyline with McNulty inventing a serial killer, etc.

Sons of Anarchy was an abortion in Season 3, and Season 4 was solid, but completely ruined (IMO) by a crappy finale.Breaking Bad's writing is consistently spectacular, and not many shows can say that this far into their run.

Breaking Bad is my 2nd favourite show after SOA - I find that BB will have a few snore episodes follwed by a really good one.SOA always seems to have my attention - I thought Season 3 was great.Walt is kind of a nutbar thought...........

 indeed!!!
 okay got a question

Sooo... why the #### does Gus slit VICTOR'S throat? Blaming him for letting them kill homoboy? Making the statement that even his closest, most-loyal guys are capable of getting cut down in cold blood? Jesus that was somewhat unexpected but
Figure we'll knock out 2 or 3 more episodes of S4 tonight (at least). She's just as hooked as I am.

To people who don't like season 3, you're nuts. "One Minute" might be the best episode of the series thus far.

Gus killed Vistor because he was seen at the crime scene.

Makes sense. Figured the lookie-loo explanation was sufficient but I guess not.

Whats with the ever growing amount of purple #### in Hank's house?! :lmao: GF Pointed it out... been getting worse and worse through season 4.

Creator of the show said in an interview that they utilize color very purposefully and that they've associated Marie with the color purple since the beginning of the show. Maybe its prevalence has gotten more visible the more she has to do herself around the house with Hank out of commission?

SOA is like one part cartoon, one part video game, one part soap opera...It's a fun watch but not that great of a show.
Not trying to pick a fight, but what shows would you consider to be great if not this one? You acknowledge that it's a fun watch, clearly the acting is superb, the writing doesn't stretch believability, it's an interesting storyline, and they answer the questions they present. What else is there?

Eh? The writing is insanely childish at times.

Jax shooting a car load of guys and causing a pile up on the interstate last season and no one ever coming to question the club...

I am about half way through Season 3 on Netflix streaming. This season I am liking it a lot more. I have to wonder though, had I just been a normal TV viewer without people telling me to keep watching, whether I would have stuck with it after season 1 or 2. I liked those seasons, but they didn't seem like anything too special to me. Season 3 has made the show a lot better IMO, however, some things still come off as rather predictable and/or unrealistic. I still prefer Boardwalk and Thrones as far as current TV goes, and do not feel that it reaches the level of The Wire (whose drug game was much more realistic than what seems to go on here -- particularly the first two seasons).

Jax plowing a hearse into the back of another car and no one on the other cars giving a flying ####. Then Jax stealing a motorcycle and no one STILL gives a flying ####. And then Jax shooting Opie to prevent him from killing the man that killed his father, because Opie's problems are secondary. It's Jax's world and everyone is just fortunate to breathe his air.

Sons is pretty bad. It reminds me of a modern day Dukes of Hazzard mixed with a bit of Melrose Place and a touch of A-Team.

Homeland

Boardwalk Empire

I would even consider "Game of Thrones" to be pretty close to great. And that's saying something since I've never been a D&D/fantasy kind of guy. It's kind of funny now that I think about it. A series about dragons and fireproof naked chicks is 100% more realistic than the one about the present day biker gang.

It won't touch Thrones. And then I will have to come back again after Seasons 2-5 of Boardwalk and Thrones as well.Don't get me wrong, I like Breaking Bad and like what I am seeing in Season 3 even more (save for Skylar, I hate that ##### as does my fiance). I just feel it's a little over-hyped when people compare it to The Wire etc. (which I will be re-watching for the third or fourth time once I'm done with Season 3 of BB so as to introduce my lady to that as well).

Is season 4 of BB on demand or being replayed on AMC?

Yeah, I'm very dumb. This whole time I thought you were referring to Breaking Bad as being a mediocre show with childish writing, I just realized now you were talking about Sons of Anarchy. I didn't even realize people were talking about SOA so when I first read the comment I didn't put the 2 and 2 together.

Reminds me of the first few pages of this thread when someone kept thinking this thread was about Mad Men.

Carry on

Finished season 4 last night. HFS.

Very very curious to see where they take things for season 5.

My thoughts

Gus is obviously bigtime from somewhere. The Cartel wouldn't kill him and alluded to "knowing who he is" in the flashback. They wouldn't snipe him toward the end of season 4. His past is fuzzy back in Chile. Something is there. Something big. That comes to the surface now that he's dead.

Walt is short on cash now. There's a power vacuum. Do he and jesse step up? If so, there's a huge potential flashpoint there with walt watching his girl die and then poisoning the kid. If any of that comes to the surface....

To be fair, Boardwalk and Thrones are two of the best TV series ever made. It's not that I think Breaking Bad is better than those series, but it's different in a good way. Those two are sweeping, epic shows and I love them. I just like BB as a small, terse change of pace.

I'd consider Game of Thrones to be great. If that show isn't great, then what is?
