Breaking Bad on AMC (3 Viewers)

One of those who never got around to watching it on TV, got convinced by friends to give a try, and blazed through the 4 seasons thinking it's one of the best eva.

One thing I hope they do with season 5 is explain what happened with Walt that caused him to flame-out as the chemistry superstar. Didn't he have a plaque from NASA hanging on his wall in the first episode? And I know he was banging Gretchen before she married Elliot and that they are started the bio-tech company, but they've never really explained why Walt gave that all up? Couldn't just be the love triangle thing.

Effin brilliant show.
Why not? Walt has a massive ego. He definitely seems the type who would cut off his own nose to spite his face.

Good point. Cracks me up that Hank was ready to close the case on Heisenberg thinking it was Gale, but Walt's ego (and some wine) couldn't let that slide.

Maybe, but they say that he left her while they were on vacation with her family, at which point Gretchen and he were still together, right? What exactly would have been the motivation at the time?

Bryan Cranston: 'Breaking Bad' will split final season

by James Hibberd

The question of whether AMC will indeed split the final season of Breaking Bad is close to an official verdict.

Emmy-winning series star Bryan Cranston says AMC will break the award-winning drama’s final 16-episode season into two separate runs, as has been speculated for months. “We’re splitting it,” says Cranston, who’s currently shooting the fifth season premiere in New Mexico. “We’re going to shoot the first eight, then take a four-month production break, then the rest will air next year.”

The network has not announced a premiere date for Breaking Bad, though actors on the show say the drama will return in July.

AMC and Sony Pictures TV have maintained radio silence on the show’s return and distribution plan. A studio spokesperson says the four-month production hiatus is “one scenario” that’s being considered. The network wants to divide the final season so it has a strong summer drama airing this year and the next (it would also presumably allow Breaking Bad to be eligible for two award-season cycles). With Breaking Bad production under way and summer right around the corner, obviously the schedule should get firmed up soon, though AMC has shown a willingness to engage in some production brinksmanship in the past.

Cranston, who’s directing the upcoming April 11 episode of ABC’s Modern Family, is expected to direct the ninth episode of Breaking Bad‘s final season (the 2013 premiere, assuming all goes according to plan).

“We pick up right where we left off,” Cranston says of the fifth-season opener. “We’re cleaning up the pieces from last season’s huge ordeal where Gus Fring was forced to meet his maker. It’s not as easy as Walter thought. And as we’ve discovered over the years, you don’t really know who Walter White is. I’m still discovering who he is and I’m trying to allow myself to be open to him going darker and darker. There’s physical danger to himself and his family, plus there’s the emotional danger due to his anger and hubris. It’s about the evil that men do and where that takes him.”

It was a Nobel Prize. I hope they explain what made Walter leave Gretchen too.

Just finished S4. Holy crap this show is awesome.Walt's ego is akin to a serial killer's ego. He needs to play this cat/mouse game.

Can't wait for S5. :excited:

Any word on season 4 on Netflix?
No clue... I went through Seasons 1-3 really fast over the past month and actually purchased Season 4 via iTunes when I read someplace that Netflix "might" get it when Season 5 starts. Since I saw the first 3 seasons via Netflix, I didnt' want to wait to start Season 5 on AMC while I watched Season 4 via Netflix.I just finished season 4 this week. Well worth the $30

Kept seeing commercial for a new sitcom called "Don't Trust the B...in Apartment 23" and couldn't figure out who the star was.

I knew she looked familiar. It's Jane from Breaking Bad.

One of the ads featured a bunch of characters from her show talking about how awful she is, and then the last one was Cranston saying something to the effect of "she makes you wanna kill her". Good stuff.

I just spent the last month plowing through this show. Now I'm stuck waiting for the final 16 episodes and seriously angry they are splitting it up into two years!! Geez, bring us closure!

What an amazing show. Perfect mix of comedy and unbelievable drama. The dramatic moments are so "on-the-edge-of-your-seat" awesome and I can't recall a show being this tense.

I always read through this thread after each show, just because it's fun to get other people's reactions. Added quite a bit to the show.

Can't recall a television show I've enjoyed more, although I haven't watched Mad Men, which is my next journey.

Amazing that in four seasons, there are only two scenes that I rolled my eyes at (usually TV is full of them). The airplane explosion, which I still rate as the only truly unbelievable event, and Gus' terminator, tie-adjusting scene. That being said, once I put that Gus scene together with the "Face-Off" title of the show (titles are another awesome part of this show), I totally forgave them. The "I see what you did there" post summed that up perfectly. Loved it.

And 4.11 is the best television episode I've ever seen. The tension at the end, and the joker laugh by Cranston...WOW. Just incredible.

Hank did a couple episode stint on the show "Body of Proof".He really stretched as an actor--he played a cop.

:goodposting: :goodposting: My favorite episode by far.And of course, the scene with Walt/Skyler after they had sex. "I'm the one who knocks :hot: "

Apparently there is some sort of student body president race going on somewhere. A girl named Summer got Giancarlo Esposito to make a video endorsing her.

Her opponent fired back with

ETA: Just read that the school is in Santa Monica hence the show biz connections.

Can't handle it. Will watch on DVR the next day.
I'm torn on what to do. Life sucks.
Just start it 15-20mins in. Be live by the last segment. That's what I normally do. Sometimes it is fun to watch live and have the commercial break to breath and talk about WTF is going on if you watch with someone else.

Walt is gonna need to kill Jesse by the conclusion of this series or Ima be pissed.

There's no other way for this to end. If the cancer doesn't get Walt, Jesse is his only remaining liability.

im more interested in the walt/hank storyline. i just hope they dont go dexter on us and have hank start "feeling something" for walt

Hank is a dummy. Walt could tell him "I am Heisenberg" and Hank would just chuckle.

noooohank is the man, he is just too blinded by his dorky brother in law to ever consider him to be involved in any criminal activity.

Hank and Walt is the logical conclusion to the series. I've been saying for two years that one of hank and Jess will die and the other will get away. Just not sure which it will be.

the whole point of the show is Walt breaking bad. He's going to be looking to kill a lot of people.

The only question for me is whether he ultimately gets away with it or will Jesse and/or Hank stop him.

Heisenberg is the bad guy. Walt is the mild-mannered, rational pedagogue.
from the interviews/podcasts I've listened to, it sounds like they want him to take the Scarface path. He's going all the way and there won't be a difference between Hank and Heisenberg anymore.
