He wanted Jesse back so he wouldn't take Hank for all he's worth. So, Walt turns on Gale completely out of ego, right?
Should I grab more beer now?[/quoteSettle in. We are to the good part.
Yes. Only ~36 episodes to go, each better than the last.
I always took it as feeling responsible for Jesse's ###whooping and bringing him back in as restitution. So, Walt turns on Gale completely out of ego, right?
I see that. But I also saw that Walt was a little put off when Gale had all the prep work done without him having to say anything. I think he saw Gale as a rival and used the Hank/Jesse thing to put the rival in his place. He wanted Jesse back so he wouldn't take Hank for all he's worth. So, Walt turns on Gale completely out of ego, right?
Marie grew on me during the series. This is about the time I started to change my opinion on her.Marie sucks. Would have been so much better if Hank were single.

No. Jesse was a threat to expose Walt. That's why he brought him back after showing such admiration for Gail.I always took it as feeling responsible for Jesse's ###whooping and bringing him back in as restitution. So, Walt turns on Gale completely out of ego, right?
I could see a little of that motivation thrown in.I see that. But I also saw that Walt was a little put off when Gale had all the prep work done without him having to say anything. Welcome.Marie sucks. Would have been so much better if Hank were single.

Glad I wasn't the only one.Marie grew on me during the series. This is about the time I started to change my opinion on her.Marie sucks. Would have been so much better if Hank were single.
I can't think of one instance where she was essential to the plot.Marie grew on me during the series. This is about the time I started to change my opinion on her.Marie sucks. Would have been so much better if Hank were single.
You're wrong. Pistols at dawn under the willow tree to settle the matter?Disagree.No. Jesse was a threat to expose Walt. And right there when Walt immediately jumped Jesse's ### when Jesse started talking about cooking without him.I could see a little of that motivation thrown in.I see that. ....Yep. This is about the point in the series where I really started liking Jesse.Jesse bored in the lab is....
I think Marie was key in Hank accepting the El Paso promotion, she seemed more interested in Hank getting his recognition and due than Hank himself did.Marie grew on me during the series. This is about the time I started to change my opinion on her.Marie sucks. Would have been so much better if Hank were single.
Reminded me of this--Will Hank be ordering minerals soon?
And Hank's call to Marie in the desert is one of the 2-3 most poignant moments in the entire series. It wouldn't have the same emotional effect if Marie was just some off screen character throughout the run of the show.Marie grew on me during the series. This is about the time I started to change my opinion on her.Marie sucks. Would have been so much better if Hank were single.
I always thought his primary motivation was self preservation. He realized he was teaching everything to someone not loyal to him, but loyal to Gus. And someone that Gus had complete trust in. Plus, he couldn't control and manipulate Gale the way he could Jesse. So, Walt turns on Gale completely out of ego, right?
Hey, look at me! I can read fast! For those of you with a Kindle, check out "Breaking Down Breaking Bad"- its $3.99, and only 100 pages. I read it in about an hour. It's got some great insight on the character motivations, plot lines throughout the 5 seasons, top ten moments etc. A quick fun read.
Walter saw Gale as his replacement. Whether he was justified in that is something else entirely.Nah, there was no friction or anything like that with Gus yet. Walt did it strictly to get Jesse working with him again, so he wouldn't ruin Hank's life with a lawsuit.
As for Marie, yeah, she was annoying, but she was a key supporting character. Like bentley said, Hank's phone call to her after arresting Walt would have had a lot less impact if we weren't as familiar with her character.
According to the book I just referenced, Walt could not control Gale the way he controlled Jesse.Walter saw Gale as his replacement. Of course you don't actually need a Kindle since there's an app for mobiles and PC.For those of you with a Kindle, check out "Breaking Down Breaking Bad"- its $3.99, and only 100 pages. I felt I was on a multiple day binge just like the tweakers in Jesse's house. Multiple 1:30am nights, and I typically go to bed at 10:30-11.Abraham said:If you have never seen the show then I am seriously excited for the next few days of your life.oooh thx.... i forgot netflix has it free, thxI'll check back at 4am when you are five episodes past the point where you said to yourself "one more episode then I'm going to bed."
Oh Christ. You need a book to help you with talking points for a GD TV show??? Do you have any original thoughts and opinions?timschochet said:According to the book I just referenced, Walt could not control Gale the way he controlled Jesse.dparker713 said:Walter saw Gale as his replacement. Uh, yeah. But only in a scorched earth sorta way.the principal is hot , right?
It's all about Walter's ego. As much as he rationalized his actions supporting his family, in the end, it was all about him.dparker713 said:I always thought his primary motivation was self preservation.
