just my take, but i think the police reached a conclusion that it was a suicide attempt, the intitial report got leaked, and the media frenzy spiraled out of control. whether it was a genuine bad reaction, a genuine suicide attempt, or something in between we may never know, but i'm voting for the former right now solely because they released him so soon after.Catch me up on the last 5 pages -- now the conventional wisdom is that it absolutely, positively wasn't a suicide attempt? Was the police report faked, or was something else going on?![]()
TIA
Guess I should have handled this differently. Attempt #2 - No, nobody cares. If anyone cares......91% of all Cowboy fans believe it was a reaction to meds and not a suicide attempt.
With only those facts on the table, I'd be inclined to agree with you. The problem is that we have the cops/paramedics asking him directly whether he tried to harm himself and he answered "yes". I'm not one to believe that they falsified that information (even though, to be sure, it should have been kept confidential), but how else do you explain that? In addition, it's come out that (no surprise) he has a history of mental problems that include the 49'ers putting him into counseling, and him bristling at the suggestion by the Eagles that that occur. Also, the facts about his severely dysfunctional childhood and the bizarre behavior we've seen from him over the years strongly suggest that he's got some sort of mood or depressive or even bi-polar disorder. All of those things put him at risk for such behavior. That's where most of us are coming from here. There's an extremely difficult time reconciling those facts with a mere accident, although I acknowledge you can't rule out an accident. One thing is for sure though, nothing TO does fails to have a circus surrounding it.He was sick earlier this week from pain mediation. They switched his MedsHe has reaction and goes to hospitalWhy is that impossible to believe. What camp are you in?

You ain't kidding. All I want to know is if he'll play against the Eagles.
That's going to be the highest rated game on TV ever!
Thanks. I was under the impression that the police report was open-and-shut ... saying something like "dude straight up told us he attempted suicide".A question for the house: is it true or not true that when asked by police if he intended to harm himself, T.O. said "yes"? Didn't he also answer the same when he was asked directly if he intended to commit suicide? If the answer to either or both questions is "yes" ... how is the suicide angle explained away?just my take, but i think the police reached a conclusion that it was a suicide attempt, the intitial report got leaked, and the media frenzy spiraled out of control. whether it was a genuine bad reaction, a genuine suicide attempt, or something in between we may never know, but i'm voting for the former right now.
There is growing support that there was no attempted suicide. Instead, T.O. genuinely had a reaction between some pain meds and some sort of supplements. There are plausible explanations for the police report.Catch me up on the last 5 pages -- now the conventional wisdom is that it absolutely, positively wasn't a suicide attempt? Was the police report faked, or was something else going on?![]()

Attempt #3 - No, nobody cares what a group of Cowboys fans with the same or less information then the rest of the world has thinks about this subject. If you have MORE information then has been posted on this thread so far that would support your position then please enlighten us. If not, then you and all the other Cowboy fan poll participants are speculating just like the rest of us.Is that clear enough for you?Yeah you're right.218 User(s) are reading this topic (81 Guests and 5 Anonymous Users)132 Members: Bankerguy, smcindoe, Skinsfan, Aerial Assault, SSOG, kkparadise, SickThing, Spladow!, Kosar, matzflava, sj_bennett, Ears, moleculo, MBL12PK, Raging weasel, Disco Stu, Mo Head, Parkers99, TheGolfBallKid, Bob Loblaw, jhayden, Wreckincrew, mozzy84, toxicbees, Snot Bubbler, Demian, Blue-Kun, Sidewinder16, flapgreen, dtjesus, uclarick, Fuente Opus X, Random, Hellfire Snail, BlueOnion, tangfoot, Sack-Religious, RonMexico, RRR26, BigJim®, citsalp, theberg11, gadkins, jerseyjeff, rolliehouliranson, ceo3west, aardball44, bigfeet_88, Wilbur Wood, LivingTheDream, hammerva, Honus, phillzphan, GoNads, Little Richard, ditka...mike ditka, mcd, drpill, dagogrease, Spartans Rule, BrentBlack, vacaver1, dallas428, Hammered Finz, BroncosFan07, Black Label Society, Terpfan, Pantherz, The Finist, josh, Cenobite, Boucka, dalco2208, Particle Swarm, The People's Slacker, Michael J Fox, The foo, milkyclr, Todem, fierce_corgi, Frostillicus, [echo], FinHead, madsklz, sartre, Lauryn Hill, C & C, gpmoney, yaheRRdme, ddog9876, Vanco, da_budman, Tankslap, SPUMNUTS, Superdbs, WampusCat43, Franknbeans, nightshift, luckett's revenge, Pip's Invitation, togo, ShaneFalco, The Ref, JohnDoe, DocGonzo, Hairy Snowman, sheerterror, JohnnyCat, bosoxs45, ATC1, B-Deep, texasheat, Ditka is God, Otis, my man otis, Billy Ball Thorton, memphis raines, Team Tosh, freelander, Raagsreth, Marauder, mightyeskimo, wharf rat, wadegarrett, John, fake_15, steviey, walkmac, the_sig, Merlin, TheLem, HamstringGuess I should have handled this differently. Agreed. That's my problem as well.In addition ... I'm having a lot of trouble placing more weight on the info that's come out after Etheridge and Rosenhaus got involved than on info that came out before. It's odd to me that there's so much trust in Etheridge's take ... butAllegedly....mind you. Seems fishy to me.

i don't disagree, it could definitely be spin. the biggest piece of info to me is that he's out of the hospital. i can't believe, if that many people thought it was a suicide attempt, that they'd let him go so soon.Agreed. I have been harping on this part of the report as well. Kim Etheridge claims to have been at the scene the whole time yet there is no mention of her. If Kim was there and this was not a suicide attempt, I would expect the story to go like thisAllegedly....mind you. Those listening to the press conference....what's being said?
Any updates for those of you that can tune in to this....Hey, a request for the mods... could we make a second thread that was locked and pinned at the top of the forums that was just a summary of the latest news? I'd really like to hear what the latest is on Owens, but I really don't feel like wading through 24 pages worth of thread here...It'd be nice if there was just one post that was pinned and closed at the top that said "This is what we know about TO" and got updated as new info came in.
Please! Please! Please! While you guys are just hilarious with your comedy routine, I would love to just be able to come in here to find out what is going on from a fantasy football perspective. It is becoming very tiresome to continually wade through all of this just to try to find a shred of news.he's said "I don't know" approximately 73 times sof far....74.Those listening to the press conference....what's being said?Any updates for those of you that can tune in to this....

I was listening to Dan Patrick on the radio insist that if this was a suicide attempt, there'd be no way that TO would be out of the hospital and doing a press conference. I disagree given how image conscious TO is and given how many people he has around him giving him advice in that regard. The common reaction by publicists to a PR crisis is to get your message out as loudly and as fast as you can given that silence tends to be viewed by the public as agreement with the prevailing story.that was definitely my impression as wellLt. Watson was so terse because he wasn't so much mad with the media as he is with someone leaking the info.
I notice that he didn't leave the hospital alone, though. I know a doctor can release someone on suicide "watch" at their own discretion. Seems to me that T.O.'s release was regarded differently than releasing someone alone who would just go back to their home without observation. Perhaps the doctor felt that T.O., as a result of his profession, would be heavily observed by Rosenhaus, Etheridge, Cowboys officials, etc. and so decided to apply the rule differently. Can we speculate that a medical professional accompanied Owens and Etheridge? I know that's not been reported ... but it wouldn't seem unreasonable.i don't disagree, it could definitely be spin. the biggest piece of info to me is that he's out of the hospital. i can't believe, if that many people thought it was a suicide attempt, that they'd let him go so soon.
No. Pastors make house calls for all kinds of emotional and spiritual issues. It's entirely possible the pastor's presence was a social visit. It's more likely TO was having some emotional and/or spiritual issues and his pastor was on hand to help. Are you suggesting he was there to deliver the last rights?Generally, a pastor is not at your house unless needed.
It takes a lot to keep someone in the hospital involuntarily and in this situation with a celebrity involved the hospital's liability antennae are WAAAAAAAAY up. If TO didn't agree to that extended hospitalization (and you can imagine the advice that Rosey & Co. are giving him in that regard), I doubt the hospital would try to keep him there involuntarily. Note that he's certainly not a physical threat to anyone else which is one of the main criteria of involuntary commitment for medical treatment.i don't disagree, it could definitely be spin. the biggest piece of info to me is that he's out of the hospital. i can't believe, if that many people thought it was a suicide attempt, that they'd let him go so soon.Agreed. This is Bill volunteering to fend of the barbarians because no one else is as capable as him to do it.Parcells said he didnt know anything of this until "mid-morning" wow, how is that possible?

The police are in serious CYA/damage control mode for liability reasons due to leaking that info, preliminary or not. I'm distrustful of their public comments on this too. Note that IIRC they already have paid out big money in settlements to Michael Irvin and Nate Newton for leaking law enforcement info on those two guys. They've got to be very wary here.RECAP: Mickey with BaD Radio on The Ticket. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------Mick:I was just talking to somebody and they told me the reason bad reporting is prevelent today is because with the internet that they can't just sit on a story and wait til it's accurate. They have to get it out there before checking all of the facts. The police report everyone had seen is not the final police report, but a preliminary observation.I've had alot of police officials tell me that you don't quit the investigation if you think he attempted suicide and that he would have to be held for a 72 hour observation period.Lt. Watson was so terse because he wasn't so much mad with the media as he is with someone leaking the info. I would imagine his superiors told him to get a handle on the situation.I don't have a professional opinion on this, but just seeing him yessterday, he didn't seem like a depressed person at all.I don't know if his combination of supplements and pills made him make a bad decision on what he was taking. There are tents on the lawn everywhere where stations are doing live reports. There is also a helicopter flying over. THis is very Irvin-esque in regards to the media attention.
####### reportersman...not only are those reporters stupid... they aren't very nice people...I mean, seriously... WTF??"Would you be surprised if TO tried to commit suicide?" WHAT KIND OF QUESTION IS THAT?!?!
