The whole Saints offense has looked horrible so far. Can they bounce back? Can they regain something even close to last year's form?

I have all 4 Saints you mentioned above (Brees, Colston, Deuce, Bush) spread over 2 different teams and so far it's been bleak, but I keep telling myself they've had 2 road games at pretty tough places to play (@ IND, @ TB) and it's time for some home cooking. If they struggle in week 3 on MNF @ home against the Titans, I'll start to be more concerned. I think they're too talented to be kept down, and they need to avoid getting down early (like @ TB) where they are forced to abandon the run and become one-dimensional.

Colston is most definitely a buy low. Eric Johnson is the only non-RB receiving threat on that team besides Colston. Colston is very similar to Andre Johnson in Houston in that respect. The guy is a target magnet, and if Brees can put it back together, watch out.

That sounds about right. It's almost impossible to believe that the offense from last year will do a complete 180. I think a solid game out of them will go along way to restoring their confidence. The key is to go back to what worked last year, pounding the ball with Deuce and stop trying to force the ball to Reggie so much. I think both of those Ds surprised some people so far this year. Once the ball gets rolling, Bush gets into the endzone and Deuce gets mad, Brees will put up the numbers and the 4 of them (Colston) will start picking apart defenses. But if they lay another egg this week, I'll start to get worried. But Brees rises to the challenge, he did it in Dago even when fans and GMs were against him and he'll do it again. Should be a very good game and if Bush can't get up to play against Young, then there's trouble in the Bayou.

I just traded Colston in a package for R. Moss. The thing that swayed me to give up Colston in the deal is his history of injuries and it seems after every one of his catches he is very slow to get up and looks hurt. Also Moss has great matchups the next 3 weeks (Buff, Cincy and Clev) and after that it will be next to impossible to get him. If Colston can stay healthy he will put up very good numbers. It is funny how after only 2 weeks some FF owners are really hitting the panic button. That is the time that sharks smell blood and fear.

Colston's history of injuries and is slow to get up after each play. This is the guy's second year. Also, I know plenty of WRs that "get up slowly" after each play. That's a warped way of justifying the trade for Moss. Will Moss be better? I think so. However, I also think Colston will produce as a WR1 this year. He has put up decent (not great) numbers during this offensive svckage.

saints have 2problems. 1)they have no deep threat- or a competent one that can catch the damn football(devery)2)with there defense so porous they NEED to ride deuce much more often-which payton won't. till they remedy the deep threat or defensive problem there offense will be in the toilet. defense are keying and stopping the swings and screens to reggie bush and the quick slants or Wr bubble screens to colston. if it wasn't for garbage time colston would have done nothing so far. he is good but not good enuff to do get open or make plays on his own without a deep threat or consistent run game behind him.

People said that alot last year too. Garbage time counts too - that's why I love WRs on losing teams and RB on winning teams.

Right now, Deuce is averaging 4.4 ypc on 20 attempts, and Bush is averaging 3.0 on 22 attempts. Eventually, Payton has got to decide that winning is more important than forcing the ball to their "star" player. Personally, I think Bush looks about the same as he did at the beginning of last year. It's almost like he forgot everything he learned about playing in the NFL. Deuce should be getting the ball 20-times a game, and I'm not just saying that as a Deuce owner. The only way to explain the offensive playcalling thus far is that Payton has decided to make Bush a running back even if it costs them the season. The pressure will build soon, but the question is just how stubborn is Payton?

Well, they are all SO LOW that they are good buy-low options. Brees will be fine. Duece will be fine. Bush...eh... its really entirely up to him. The talent is there, and once he remembers his own limitations and takes 2-3 yard gains instead of turning them into 3-4 yard losses he will produce, just like last season.

I'm more concerned about Colston. He'll get 1000, probably 7-9 TDs. Good, very good. But he is closer in style at this point to Keyshawn than T.O. Until another WR steps up, it'll be tough for him to become a monster.

I'd love to see Patten as the #2 with Henderson spending more time in the slot.

My biggest complaint so far is too little time for Karney. The o-line isn't good enough to open holes without a fullback. And Eric Johnson is not as solid a run blocking TE as Campbell was. Last season a strong running game set up all those deep passes.

All will be just fine. Their first two games got out of hand so quickly that the offense never got established in the game plan that we saw work so well last year. Brees is not an athletic/gunslinger type that can still do well when he's harassed. Bush, like a lot of the team, just seems tentative. Deuce is basically tied to the team's fortunes. When they are in control, he'll flourish. They havent even come close in the first two games. And Colston is just fine. No he's not going to join the uberelite #1s, not yet, but his production while the rest of the team is broken down on the side of the road should reassure you - as Chase pointed out.

They will get a huge lift from the home crowd this Monday, and this slow start will be forgotten soon.

The problem with this team's offense is that they're trying to be too perfect. They just need to loosen up and start attacking like they did last year. Too much talent not to turn it around.

If you want to buy low...I'm thinking you may be able to buy lower after Monday Night.
can you expand on this? Tennessee has been playing some fierce D for a team that doesnt have much talent on that side of the ball, but they are definitely vulnerable in the secondary. New Orleans has one of the most decisive home field advantages in the league, assuming the fans bring it like they did last year. What do you foresee going down in the Superdome on Monday night?

NO has been playing in that stadium for decades and it hasn't done the team any good. Last year was an exception for obvious reasons. I don't doubt the resiliency of NO residents, but expecting the same level of enthusiasm as last year for an 0-2 team, and a city that is still in the same basic shape it was in last year, is probably expecting too much.

I'm flying in with some friends for the game. I think Vince Young is the only way that team wins and/or keeps the game close. He's put that team on his back and must be accounted for every single second he's on the field. Likely, Payton will opt for a ball control offense to keep VY off the field. He knows the fans are clamoring for some hardnosed play. They want the team to play hard and act like they want it. The Tenn front seven will be tested early and often, I think. If the Saints can't get up for the home opener, after 2 embarrassing losses, on MNF then they might as well call it a season. The pressure is squarely on NO here.

Must have been a nice package if you were able to get Moss after his 1st 2 games.

Colston's history started before he entered the league. :excited:

Main players in deal: I gave up Ced Benson and Colston for Moss.

they look out of sync, as Parcells says, the secondary looks like a weak link..I'd expect them to bouce back, sure..they might not be as good as last season , offensively , but they might be close enough..

He's been in the league one year and was injured once. It is really hard to use that to justify saying he is injury prone. Fred Taylor is injury prone. Colston's sample size is too small to determine.

The o will bounce back, and long as the D doesnt give up so many points the season is lost. id buy low (especially brees), but dont give up the farm

:football: I'm waiting for the 0-4 record and the paper bag head covers to start making a comeback as the NO faithful root for the "Aints". Ahh, good times.....
