Brian Westbrook - Questionable (1 Viewer)

Brian Westbrook-RB- Eagles Nov. 23 - 8:11 am et

FoxSports.com's John Czarnecki reports that Brian Westbrook will start Sunday and "see how far he can go" on his injured ankle.

PhiladelphiaEagles.com and the local Philly papers think Westbrook is closer to 50-50, so take this report with a grain of salt. Westbrook seems unlikely to top 15 touches in a brutal matchup, so he's a shaky play regardless. Correll Buckhalter will be heavily involved. Westbrook is not in our top-20 options Sunday.

:excited:

I'm an Eagles fan and honestly, I'd look to start someone else. Westrbook will be limited and he is playing a good run defense. Westy hasn't looked right really the last 2 weeks....I think Buck will get a lot more carries..

SportsCenter just reported Westbrook is a go today (no link)

Eagles RB Westbrook Expected To Play

Chris Mortensen, ESPN

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Philadelphia Eagles RB Brian Westbrook is expected to play today at Baltimore, sighting the urgency the Eagles face in their push for any playoff hopes.

For those who have had Westbrook before is this a normal thing for his injury history? I know that he's been questionable in the past, but haven't paid much attention to it.

Does Westbrook have a history of being questionable all week, then produce on Sundays? Or does his have a history of playing 5 plays and then sitting the entire game?

It is normal for him to miss practice and perform...BUT I think this is an exception: the Def he is playing, Coach giving more carriesto Buckhalter and his performance over the past two suggest the injury is hampering his performance. The NFL network thinks Westbrook will be active.

I'm a 1st year Westy owner too, but from what I understand, if he's active... play him.

He's a go, per Kara Henderson on the NFL Network.
and she said a team official said it's the best he's seen Westbrook walking in a long time.
Ehhh....The league where I own him is a 16-teamer, so I don't have much of a choice. But if you have another option (lesser player with a better matchup), I'd go that way. A hobbled Westbrook IN Baltimore against a pissed off Ravens team which just got run over by the Giants is not what I'd call a dream scenario. I don't see where the upside is today.

Geez....I have T. Jones on the pine and a must win situation this week.

Proud to be a Westy owner and have last minute decisions half the year.

In the past, he has been amazing on game day after not practicing or being questionable.. This year or at least the past few weeks have been different though- whether its the line, play calling, or Westbrook- he just doesn't look the same..I'm in a ppr league so of course I hope he catches alot of balls- but I also think- the best thing for him now is for the Eagles to use Buck to pound it, and get Westbrook in space with dumpoffs to lessen the punishment.

I had J. Stewart in over Westbrook because I expected him not to play or to have a limited role, tough choice now...

I'm starting Westbrook in the flex over the following guys:

LenDale White

Correll Buckhalter

Donnie Avery

Vincent Jackson

And from the WW:

Justin Fargas

Antonio Pittman

Am I crazy? Maybe. But, oh well.

Mortensen is reporting Buckhalter will get more carries than Westbrook. So flip a coin, who is in the know, Clayton or Mortensen

My apologies.

Mort thinks Buckhalter will share a heavy load, while Mr. Egg Head thinks Westbrook will get the vast majority of carries.

Don't apologize. People who have been members here for 5 minutes don't make the rules.Posting lineup decisions helps everyone.

So torn what to do... I am starting to lean towards Buckhalter. I have West/Buck/Sammy Morris/Kevin Faulk/Fred Jackson...

Clayton burned me so bad last week with his "Portis is very doubtful" story that I don't want to trust him at all.

Playing in a PPR I am also considering Faulk but it will come down to 12:50 and maybe a literal flip of a coin.

you been around long enough to know that is AC forum stuff
He's playing. What other updates do we need?Oh wait... he just took a pre-game dump. :goodposting:

Eagles coach Andy Reid did say earlier in the week that whether or not Westbrook plays, Correll Buckhalter will see more work than he did a week earlier.

I believe Booker is inactive today. If that's the case that means only Westbrook and Buckhalter are active at RB. That would lead me to believe the Eagles have at least some confidence in Westbrook being able to play and play well. Just a guess on my part.

my other options are Buckhalter or Kevin Smith against TB. I think I have to roll the dice with Westy....

The live pregame show on eagles.com- the guys are out on the field- talking about Westbrook- they say the artificial turf there is as hard as cement and its cold, mention the eagles practice turf-which Reid has said aggravates Westbrook's knee- is much softer--- they think this will put alot of pressure on Westbrook's injuries... They still don't give any real insight onto how much West will play though- say that they expect Buck to see more carries, but that's about it..

i really am stuck on this one- I have to start either West or Buck--- guess if it's 50/50 split- might as well play west.

No, but administrators do and it's been asked to keep this forum to reports only. Whoops, now I'm doing it...
Count me in the (apparent) minority that think ONCE THE PLAYER'S STATUS HAS BEEN ESTABLISHED, some lineup calls are a good thing... owners of the particular player can gauge what others are doing. We know he's active, now we need to make our lineup decisions. Can't believe I'm doing this, but I'm going with Peyton Hills over Westbrook.

5 minutes to lineup time.... Is he in your lineup or not?

For me........

Yes.. (but i still have a couple more minutes)

Okay, fine, I'll bite.I don't think Westbrook has looked that good lately anyway trying to play on this thing. It's cold. Field's hard. It's Baltimore. Me, if I had anyone else respectable I go with the healthy option.

I've only been on the forum for about a year or so but I think it's nice to see what other people's options are and who they are playing over who based on the injury updates. That being said, I am going with P. Thomas over Westbrook based on reports that Bush is out.

with the news that Bush is probably out on Monday night, and given the negatives noted here about Westy, I will start Thomas over Westy. this from a multi-year Westy owner who knows that he's done well when he's sat out during the week in the past. Grrr.

It is confirmed that Booker is Inactive, so Westy and CB are the only two RB's. This bodes well that the coaching staff feels he can play, and play well.

I'm keeping him in the lineup hoping for:

50 rush

50 rec

1TD

I guess Westy is useless for the rest of the year now. Philly offense, playcalling, QB, HC, and Westy himself have all been horrible for long enough to call it a trend.

If Westy is so banged up, how could Reid leave him in the game when it was a blowout- continuing to carry the ball? The coach is crazy.
