Brian Westbrook's injury may be more serious than first thought (1 Viewer)

A guy I work with knows a guy who knows a scout who said that he talked with one of the guys from the locker room who sometimes gets to go in the trainer's room and he saw a guy talking to another guy about how he overheard that a friend of Westbrook was telling a guy who works for the newspaper that it's all speculation.

A guy I work with is from Philly and he said that this report that came out has some truth to it and Westbrook's abs are really messed up... Although Ried denied it, it might be bad. He also said Westbrooks injury is part of the reason Ried might step down during the season. I have no doubt my co worker did hear this, or some version of this, just because I dont see any reason for him to make it up. But I'll take it from your reaction that he was just pulling my leg or mis-informedI only brought it up because I wanted to see what info is out there....what is the latest then?
My son works in Philly and he didn't tell me any of this.

I am your father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate. Lone Starr: What's that make us? Dark Helmet: Absolutely nothing!

Come on guys. Let's get this thread back on track. Quit with the conjecture and post some facts when you get them. This is becoming a worthless thread. If it's a rumor, state it as such. If it's fact, post a link. There are probably over 1000 people on this board with a lot of stake in Westbrook. Bickering gets us no-where.

From Yahoo sports:

Oct 2 Reuben Frank, of PhillyBurbs.com, reports Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid denied a report on NBC Sports that said RB Brian Westbrook (abdomen, ribs) has a small tear below his rib cage and the injury could worsen if Westbrook plays. The Eagles say that Westbrook has an abdominal strain. When asked if injury could be long term, Reid said he hopes it is not.

Also more of the same here. Looks like Reid is denying it's a tear.

Finishing top 5 means nothing during the weeks of the playoffs or vs your current league leader when Westbrook is out with a lets see here:kneegroinabdominal strainelbowfingerpinky toebatted eyelash....
He missed one game last year and finished top five. Keep on avoiding him because of a flawed perception.
But he missed 4 in '05, 3 in '04, 1 on '03, and 1 in '02.... not exactly a picture of durability, and only a matter of time until he misses more that 3...
:drive: 2 of the games in 2004 were because of coaches decisions in weeks 16 and 17 when the Eagles had everything locked up. Same thing happened to the Colts one year with Manning and Harrison down the stretch.Only in 2005 did he miss more than 1 game in a season due to injury. Hardly a 75% figure.

There is no news. Probably won't be any news this week since the Eagles are on BYE. We'll know more this time next week, and then, we probably won't know too much.

I couln't possibly see any info coming out on this one with the BYE week, as well as the rumors swirling about Reid's possible departure for family reasons... I have a VERY bad feeling about this injury... just based on some of the descriptions that have come out in recent weeks... any time I hear Abdominal Muscle tear/strain I think multi-week rest.

Are other Westbrook owners trying to trade for Buckhalter?

I will admit am quite worried about the injury so I traded Fred Taylor for the Buck. :lmao:

That's the same trade I'm contemplating. But if Westbrook turns out to be fine, I'd only be making someone else's team better. So I'm still contemplating.

I snagged Buckhalter off the wire this week. We can only carry 3-4 backs so he was available. Then I traded for Westbrook. I think the move works out. I didn't have much at back. It did cost me Reggie Wayne though to get Westbrook. If you can lock up Buckhalter it's basically taking a shot at Westbrooks upside.
