Was considering him with my pick just after the turn. Much along the same lines as you, love the upside... but certainly risk of sophomore slump, pitchers figuring him out a little, or not having a redonk start to a season to inflate stats a bit (honestly, I didn't look into the splits, just recall from last year)Ugh. Went to bed with a 4-player list which started 1. deGrom 2. Freeman 3. Posey.
Fourth on the list and now on my team...
2.15 Trevor Story, SS, Rockies

It's not hard to see this pick going really wrong, but the upside of a 40-HR shortstop with good defense is too much to pass up.
Holy ####. You bastage. Thought for sure I could get him in the 3rd.
I prefer being at the turn. As you noted, it provides opportunities to double up on a pick in a complementary manner.... it's also easier to manage when work and #### is busy (and since I am moving to dallas with a full week of charrettes and community meetings to end this month before a 3 day jaunt up to a conference in Montreal to begin March, busy is an understatement).Yeah, my list got hammered, too. The worst thing about picking on the ends is waiting 46 picks. I am now down to a 3 man list with 8 picks to go. Not real confident that any of them will make it back to me.
it is nice picking two guys at a time though, you can pick complementary players. The worst thing in the world is picking around say the third spot and having two guys you want and trying to decide which one has the better chance of making it around the turn.
Was kicking Story and Trea Turner around at 2.08.2.15 Trevor Story, SS, Rockies
Well you made the wrong pick. Was kicking Story and Trea Turner around at 2.08.
i've spent so much time in these drafts researching some guy (and getting excited about him) who ends up getting picked with the very next pick, even when i'm 5 picks away. Like DeGrom.not even sure why i make a list when i am 5+ picks away
I was pleasantly surprised when I looked into the splits. April was obviously his best month, but July wasn't far behind. In June/July he made progress on his K rate and his OBP was trending up too. He wasn't as dependent on the fluke start as I thought. He still makes me nervous though. Was considering him with my pick just after the turn. You and me both, GB.I really love this draft every year. One of my favorite baseball-related experiences every year.

for the newbies, in the Effects columns, the + numbers mean that element is more likely, and vice versa. A park factor above 1.00 means that the park is more hitter-friendly.
Speaking of ... can anyone hook us up and post the second round? TIAI can't access the googles at work either, so a list every so often would help.
noIs the google docs locked? I was going to help fill it in, but I can't click on anything.
